Re: Gnucash 2.7 on Windows

2017-11-18 Thread Sébastien de Menten
I filled a bug in bugzilla. Could it be possible to fill issues in github
instead as the bugzilla interface is rather complex ?

Re: Finance-Quote 1.47 released!

2017-11-18 Thread Alan Schold
I believe I have 1.47 installed and am trying to add the Alphaadvantage
key as described in the FAQ. I navigate to _C:\Program Files
(x86)\gnucash/etc/gnucash/environment_, and I'm not sure what to do
next. Opening /environment/ brings up an explanation of the file, but I
don't see anywhere to add the variable. I know I'm missing something simple.

FYI: USD->CAD now works, but not GBP->CAD.

it does here:

~/DEVELOPMENT/finance-quote >>> perl -Ilib Examples/currency-lookup.pl GBP CAD
GBP->CAD = 1.66540274
~/DEVELOPMENT/finance-quote >>> perl -Ilib Examples/currency-lookup.pl CAD GBP
CAD->GBP = 0.60045536

Re: Gnucash 2.7 on Windows

2017-11-18 Thread Catscrash
Hi,

I have crashes with 2.7 as well, but with Linux. I compiled
successfully, but are not able to start the new version.

./gnucash
Notice

Your gnucash metadata has been migrated.

Old location: /home/catscrash/.gnucash
New location: /home/catscrash/.local/share/GnuCash

If you no longer intend to run GnuCash 2.6.x or older on this system you
can safely remove the old directory.

gnc.gui:ERROR:gnc-main-window.c:3631:gnc_main_window_setup_window:
assertion failed: (filename)
[1]    32604 abort (core dumped)  ./gnucash

make check runs successfully.

Any idea what might be wrong? Or how I can be useful in debugging?

Thanks

Re: Finance-Quote 1.47 released!

2017-11-18 Thread Steve
Alan... no ever accused GnuCash of being user friendly. Unfortunate.

The environment file you opened may look like simply a bunch of
instructions, but if you look closely, it's actually a combination of
comments and the commands themselves. The comments explain each line that
follows, etc. You don't need to concern yourself with those.

Simply go to the END of the file and on a new line, paste the necessary line
from the instructions, containing your Alphaadvantage code. Then simply
save the file (I ended up having to change the permissions on the file to be
able to save it, btw) under the same name.

That's it.

Re: Finance-Quote 1.47 released!

2017-11-18 Thread annapolishome via gnucash-user
Ok, I am seeing all this stuff with Finance Quote. I thought I did
everything I needed, but when I run Gnucash, Tools, Price Editor, Get Quotes
I get the message 'Unable to retrieve quotes for these items' which is all
my stocks. Something is missing or not in the right place, or I left out a
step, etc. Any help appreciated. I am running OSX High Sierra. Thanks.

The assert is because
filename = gnc_filepath_locate_ui_file("gnc-main-window-ui.xml");
returned NULL.

Are you trying to run GnuCash without installing it? That in general doesn’t
work.

Sorry, no. Github’s issue tracker doesn’t scale to the number of bugs we need
to manage.

Transaction Report with weekly balance

2017-11-18 Thread Billsy
I currently use Quicken Personal, and use a budget report, which lists weekly
transactions, and a running balance of my cash account at the end of each
week - that way I know exactly how much I have in the bank at the end of
each week.
When I generate a transaction report with GnuCash, the transactions are
listed and totalled for each week, but I don't have a weekly cash position
indicated, so although I know the total of all weekly deductions, I can't
see a running weekly balance of my cash account.

Am I missing something in the report options?
Thanks,
