custom reports: guile or eguile

2017-09-11 Thread Gour
Hello,

thanks to reports written by Doug Doughty I've become inspired to definitely
stay with Gnucash and learn to write some custom reports, but wonder whether
how much can be done with Eguile or it is recommended to use Guile considering
the current status and/or further development of Eguile?

Sincerely,
Gour

Re: GnuCash on ArchLinux

2017-09-11 Thread alarin
Hello

It won't install

$ yaourt -S gnucash

gnucash 2.6.17-3  (2017-07-07 14:07)
( Unsupported package: Potentially dangerous ! )

And if I continue there will lot of  this:

(invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature))

Means it's not working as it should.

How to install it? You sure it should work?

Bernhard, it's not a fresh installation. Perhaps 1 year old or so.

I ran those commands now and after that "yaourt -S gnucash". Exactly the same
result.. What could be wrong with my computer in your opinion?
I have installed any other program i need with no problems.

Drew,

As I understand it, there is no facility to customize the toolbars in GnuCash,
since the underlying toolkit, gtk, doesn’t offer it. At least, that is what I
was told when I asked a similar question a couple of years back.

Sorry. As Derek noted, patches to enable this would be welcomed.

Ah but there exists mechanism to add keyboard shortcuts.Edit your
.gnucash/accelerator-map and maybe you'll find appropriate entry.
I've added Ctrl-J for Jump as Ctrl-L for Split as follows:

(gtk_accel_path "/GncPluginPageRegisterActions/JumpTransactionAction"
"j")
(gtk_accel_path "/GncPluginPageRegisterActions/SplitTransactionAction"
"l")

1) Are you sure you saved your data before you quit gnucash?
2) Are you sure you opened the same (correct) data file?

What OS/Distro are you using? Note that on a Mac, double-clicking on a
data file will start GnuCash but will NOT open the file you clicked.
GnuCash will still open the last file it used (which may not be what you
clicked).

Tracking money moving out of checkbook

2017-09-11 Thread Dennis Powless
I'm trying to set up a budget and I need to track all the cash or money that
leaves the checking account in a report. I generally capture most of it will
expense accounts i.e. fuel dining general spending etc. what I seem to be
missing is all the other miscellaneous expenses, some transfers some odd
payments with different expense account attached to them.

GnuCash security symbol incompatible with financeQuote

2017-09-11 Thread gnucash_noob_22237
Dear all,

I want to track the stock with symbol "BTEM.L". This is recognised by
finance::quote :

./gnc-fq-dump yahoo_europe BTEM.L
Finance::Quote fields Gnucash uses:
symbol: BTEM.L   <=== required
... etc

More standard would be the symbol "LON:BTEM", but not recognised by
finance::quote.

GnuCash seems to only allow me to create securities with symbols X:Y where X
is "type" and Y is "symbol", and the ":" is non-optional. How can GnuCash
track "BTEM.L" ?

Thanks!

Dennis,

Doesn't a transaction report run on your checkbook account do that. You can
run it unfiltered or only select the transactions that go to another
specified account?
