String additions to 'glib.glib-2-20'

2010-08-02 Thread GNOME Status Pages
This is an automatic notification from status generation scripts on:
http://l10n.gnome.org.

There have been following string additions to module 'glib.glib-2-20':

+ "%u byte"/"%u bytes"

Note that this doesn't directly indicate a string freeze break, but it
might be worth investigating.

Not according to http://git.gnome.org/browse/glib/log/?h=glib-2-20 hence
false alarm.

New strings in Orca

2010-08-02 Thread Joanmarie Diggs
Hey all.

We've had to add some additional strings as part of the fixes for the
following bugs:

  * bug 625729 - Orca does not present superscripted and subscripted
numbers in gcalctool
  * bug 625737 - Orca should attempt to clump superscripted and
subscripted numbers together

About Russian coordinator

2010-08-02 Thread Yuri Myasoedov
Hi, i18n GNOME Team!

I'm a Russian translation contributor. Our translation team is in trouble.
Leonid Kanter, the current coordinator, disappeared and no one can
commit translations. The list of fulfilled translations is growing, and
we have less than two months to translate GNOME 3.0. The last
message (in the gnome-...@gnome.org mailing list) from Leonid we saw
in March.

Also, I've requested a GIT account in Mango system to be able to
commit translations, but I can't get an approval, because Leonid
doesn't reply for a long time.

In that case, I see several ways to solve a problem:
1. remove Leonid from the coordinator and choose the new one;
2. allow me to get the GIT account without Leonid's approval.

[Fwd: GNOME 3.0 in March 2011]

2010-08-02 Thread Andre Klapper
Forwarding to gnome-i18n@ as it was incorrectly stated in a recent
posting that GNOME 3.0 would be released in two months. Instead, GNOME
2.32 will be released in two months, and 3.0 in March 2011.

--- Begin Message ---
Hello all,

A few release team members talked with various people during the first
few days at GUADEC to get a better feeling of where we stand on our road
to GNOME 3.0. We held a meeting later and decided that GNOME 3.0 should
be postponed to March 2011 to make sure this release will have the high
quality we all expect.

Our community wants to be proud of what we will release as 3.0, and
moreover, we don't want to disappoint our users who are excited about
our goals for GNOME 3.0.

We will still release a stable version of GNOME in September, and we'll
call it 2.32. We encourage maintainers to add a configure flag to easily
make their modules use GTK+ 2 and GTK+ 3, or to create a gnome-2-32
branch where the 2.32 work will be done.

Thanks to the hard work the community has been doing in the last few
months, we have achieved a lot for GNOME 3 and we therefore want to also
release a GNOME 3 Beta in September. This will clearly send a signal
that we want people to start playing with GNOME 3, and this will help
build even more momentum before the release.

Finally, it's important that everybody keeps focusing on making the
GNOME 3 vision a reality: the additional time that we have until March
2010 should be used carefully and we encourage maintainers to target
achievable goals during this new cycle.

Cheers,

Frederic

See Andre's mail for the GNOME 3.0/2.32 thingie...

Please have a look at
http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/StartingATeam
(There is already a non-responsive coordinator)

and follow this actions (e.g. CC the current coordinator). If he doesn't
reply within two weeks we will move coordination over to someone
(probably you).

Please also CC the Russian mailing list so we are sure that nobody
objects having you as the new coordinator (just in case).

So, in short, write a somewhat formal mail to the russian list, CC'ing
gnome-i18n and the current coordinator to resolve this and wait for a
reply of the coordinator or two weeks to have passed and remind us
again.

Thanks,
Johannes

Yes, great ideas! IMHO having both the IRC meeting and survey wouldn't hurt,
in case there are willing volunteers around to organize it. :-)
