eog branched for GNOME 2.20

2007-09-18 Thread Lucas Rocha
Hi all,

I've just create a separate branch (gnome-2-20) for eog 2.20.x. This
is where stable version development continues.

Extra-cool-futuristic stuff takes place in trunk now. The roadmap will
be published as soon as the Roadmap Gang (those cool guys) start
bugging me about it. :-P

Cheers!

gnome-vfs, eel and nautilus branched for 2.20

2007-09-18 Thread Alexander Larsson
gnome-vfs, eel and nautilus has been branched for GNOME 2.20.
The branch name is "gnome-2-20".

Future work on nautilus will be porting it to use gvfs/gio. This work
will happen on a branch though, so I don't expect much work on trunk in
the near future.

Re: gnome-games 2.20.0 released & branched

2007-09-18 Thread Og Maciel
Hey guys,

My co-worker Ken Vandine has found a critical but in the Macedonian
translation of the .desktop file (see
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478056) which prevents the
menu from showing up (the sudoku game specifically). There's a patch
attached to the issue... I just saw the announcement for the branching
of gnome-games, so I'd like to ask someone to verify this?

Cheers,

Seems to be fixed in the gnome-2-20 branch. Fix for trunk will come
soon, I guess?

Is it possible to release an update 2.20.0.1 gnome-games tarball? This
small issue makes the gnome-sudoku .desktop file useless...
I can do the release if necessary.

Thanks,

Would it be possible to let 'make distcheck' detect such problems, so
that broken translations will not cause such problems in the future?

Could this be added to gnome-common, gnome-doc-utils or similar?

Well, this particular problem can be caught with desktop-file-validate
(and I plan to push for a check rule using it). I'm not sure it's really
possible to have a check for all possible problems related to
translations, though.

I wouldn't mind helping if it isn't against any rules about how to use SVN.
But I don't think that I will be possible to make it in time to make the
2.20.0 release anyway as far as I understand the they are already building
the tarballs now, so I'm afraid you might as weel wait and have you own
coordinator do it, and then they will be in the 2.20.1 packages.

This occurred, because I reverted a change made previously while in
string freeze. To avoid requesting a string freeze break I thought I
could safely remove the locale part from the schema. Unfortunately, this
is not the case and I'm sorry for that.

The patch adds back the locale part and therefore the window_x and
window_y keys will be installed correctly.

The new strings only appear in gconf-editor and not in Deskbar-Applet
itsself. So translators can take their time to translate it.

Yes, I already wondered because I was so sure to have set HEAD to
stringfrozen="false"...

gnome-games and old branches

I'm forwarding Andreas suggestion to gnome-i18n. This question already
rose some months ago. If I recall correctly, Danilo thought it was worth
keeping the old branches for history and statistical purpose. Right?

Should we keep old branches forever or should we only keep two or three
old branches?
Should we make something clearer about these branch status in the
interface?
