[gentoo-dev] aging ebuilds with unstable keywords

2006-03-13 Thread Daniel Ahlberg
Hi,

This is an automatically created email message.
http://gentoo.tamperd.net/stable has just been updated with 14662 ebuilds.

The page shows results from a number of tests that are run against the ebuilds.
The tests are:
* if a version has been masked for 30 days or more.
* if an arch was in KEYWORDS in an older ebuild, but not in the newer ones.
* if SRC_URI contains hosts specified in thirdpartymirrors.
* if ebuild uses patch instead of epatch.
* if ebuild sets S to ${WORKDIR}/${P}.
* if ebuild redefines P, PV, PN or PF.
* if ebuild doesn't inherit eutils when it uses functions from eutils.
* if ebuild doesn't inherit flag-o-matic when it uses functions from
flag-o-matic.
* if ebuild has $HOMEPAGE in SRC_URI (cosmetic).
* if ebuild has $PN in SRC_URI (cosmetic).
* if ebuild forces -fPIC flag to CFLAGS.
* if ebuild has deprecated WANT_AUTO(CONF|MAKE)_?_?.
* if ebuild uses is-flag -fPIC, should be changed to has_fpic.
* if ebuild appends $RDEPEND or $DEPEND to $RDEPEND or $DEPEND to $DEPEND.
* if ebuild has arch keyword(s) in iuse.
* if ebuild overrides MAKEOPTS.
* if ebuild has automake, autoconf or libtool in RDEPEND.
* if ebuild exists in ChangeLog.
* if ebuild installs COPYING and/or INSTALL into doc.

The database is updated once a day and this email is sent once a week.

[gentoo-dev] New Staffer: Christel Dahlskjaer

2006-03-13 Thread Seemant Kulleen

Dear All,

It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you Christel Dahlskjaer, the
newest member of the Gentoo Staff. Christel joins our User Relations
project [1] to help bring it back up to speed (it has languished for a
little while). She basically wowed a bunch of us in the past few weeks
with her ideas on how to revamp the project and resurface the roads
between the developer community and the user community. She will be
working closely with Daniel Drake as well as the Developer Relations
personnel.

Christel has been a friend of Gentoo for quite a while, serving as our
freenode contact (if you have a mask, chances are high that Christel
gave it to you). And you didn't even know it...

Ms. Dahlskjaer (Natasha, when she's in Russia) hails from Norway,
somewhere near the arctic circle. She smarted up and moved to warmer
climes -- tropical England, where she lives these days. She enjoys
belly dancing, yoga, coffee, sleeping with the light on, falling
bookmarks, unbookmarked spots in a book, and playing the violin:
sometimes in that order.

Please make her feel welcome. I'm sure we will be hearing from her quite
a bit in the near future.

Welcome Christel!

Thanks,

Seemant

[gentoo-dev] IMPORTANT: OSL outage

2006-03-13 Thread Lance Albertson
It appears that the OSL had some kind of a power issue (which
unfortunately included having some issues with the generator). They are
still working on bringing machines back up, but anything thats tied to
the database server is not working (bugs/forums/etc). I have half of the
machines back up, while others are still MIA.

Please be patient as they work on resolving the issue. I believe CVS
should be working now and the tree should be updating. Please let me
know if that is not the case.

Cheers-

[gentoo-dev] Last rites for net-im/ickle and net-misc/gtm

2006-03-13 Thread foser
Hey,

while wandering trough the tree I came across net-im/ickle and
net-misc/gtm, packages abandoned years ago, without metadata and any
recent changelog entries. So I took it upon me to mask them for removal
in a few days or so. Bugzilla is unreachable at the moment, but I don't
think an entry is needed for these 2.

The mail server is not hosted by OSL. That server is somewhere in Italy, iirc.
I'm still receiving -dev mail just fine.

Actually, you're right.. robin (which handles the mailing lists) is in
Trieste, but of course you need toucan to access the @gentoo.org mails...
Still, toucan is in Indiana, so not related to OSU's outages.
