Re: [DISCUSS] Incubating Proposal of Shenyu

2021-04-15 Thread Yu Xiao
Hi kezhenxu94 and Kris Calvin

I'm Xiaoyu founded this project in 2018. Firstly, thank you very much for
your comments.

For why they would be the initial committers:

>[1] https://github.com/dromara/soul/commits?author=tuohai666
>[3] https://github.com/dromara/soul/commits?author=kimmking

1. As Dromara.org core members, they are active in running the community
activities: https://dromara.org/activities. serving as mentors for many
people to enjoy open source and join our community.

>[2] https://github.com/dromara/soul/commits?author=dmsolr

After our discussion he will be removed from initial committers list.

For why they would not be initial committers:

SteNicholas contribute to soul-admin in 2018, his code refactoring had been
completed, and he does not join community any more.

> https://github.com/dromara/soul/commits?author=lw1243925457

After our discussion Asxing and lw1243925457 will be added to initial
committers list.

I am the mentor of huangxfchn, but now he doesn't have time to help with
the project, and we welcome him back when he is free.

He is Lei Zhang who already exists in initial committers list.

He contributed only 357 lines of code, not enough, welcome his further
contributions.

Finally:

1. PPMC members will consider nominating them as committers after enter the
incubator.

2. Our project is growing very quickly, and there will be a lot of tasks
and community work ahead, there will be important work for them.

> [5] https://dromara.org/awesome/#contributors
> [6] https://dromara.org/awesome/#knownusers

1. We only counted the Soul project, not include the other projects.
2. When join the ASF incubator, we will clean IP, in order to ensure the
apache way.

Best Regards

2021-04-16 Thread Yu Xiao
Hi Zhiyuan,

Thank you for your attention. I understand your concern.
After all, it is difficult to get more people to participate in the project.
So, in order to get more people involved, we refactored the design,
optimized and simplified the codes, make it looks very simple.

The follows [1] are the statistics of some significant novice task
activities from 2020-11-30 to the present, with 171 person-times.
In addition, a translation activity [2] organized at the end of 2020-11,
had 34 person-times.
A total of novice mission activities is 205 person-times.
In the source code parsing activity [3], we organized source code parsing
and sharing activities [4].

To trace the commits history, the issues between 2020-11-15 and 2020-12-15
[5],
and the pull requests between 2020-12-1 and 2020-12-15 [6] are listed.

>I noticed that in December 2020, the number of contributors has grown
>particularly fast, from 35 to 108 in 2 weeks.
>May I know how is this done?

Finally, the contributors [7] who contributed in the periods of time
(2020-12-1 ~ 2020-12-15), can be found actively in the issues or the pull
requests just provided.

Re: [DISCUSS] Incubating Proposal of Shenyu

2021-04-22 Thread Yu Xiao
Hi Sheng & IPMC,

We are very appreciate about the helpful feedback from you and IPMC. Thank
you all!

We have discussed the current situation of ShenYu project and the points to
be improved with our mentors these days, as follows:

We we come to an agreement that too high a bar for initial committer ship
can be detrimental to the project.

Further more, we notice that Justin already had mentioned "It best to keep
the committer bar low".

Based on the suggestions from mentors, We nominating additional committers
based on their contributions to the project.

And active to refine the committers list. After several days of discussion
[1], we re-elected the initial committers.

It can find the detail info in the proposal which we have updated the
proposal, refer to [2].

We notices that the ShenYu community is not diverse enough, and we learned
that we really need for a more diverse community.

I believe that, this is also our original intention to dedicate ShenYu to
Apache community.

We hope that more friends from any companies and any countries around the
world will participate in ShenYu project.

I and the PMC of ShenYu will pay more attention to this and appreciate the
mentors and IPMC to supervise.

The open, fair and elite spirit of Apache foundation is worthy of continuous
learning by myself and ShenYu project.

I believe ShenYu's join in Apache incubator will be a happy journey of
continuous learning.

The Apache way is our way. Any feedback and guidance are welcome!

Re: [DISCUSS] Incubating Proposal of Shenyu

2021-04-22 Thread Yu Xiao
Hi Zhenxu,

We are very appreciative about the helpful feedback from you.

About the project name ShenYu, we just completed checks following the guide
from Apache [1].

We found the trademarks exist in Canadian and EUIPO via WIPO Global Brand
Search [2] in the Nice CI. 42.

After consulting with our mentors, we knew that the medical equipment
company and what they produce [3] will not likely be confused with this
product.

For other search results which are not in the Nice CI. 42, also will not be
confused.

We need more helpful comments from IPMC regarding the name. Thanks.

Re: [Branding Issue] Shenyu is still decleared as a project of dromara community

2022-07-02 Thread Yu Xiao
Hi John,

dromara[1] is an open source organization, and there are many
developers or organizations using projects from the dromara community.

Apache ShenYu was donated to ASF by dromara. So, dromara project[2] a
link to the Apache ShenYu website[3].

Other projects(hutool, sa-token) under the dromara community also have
a links, but they forward to a wrong address.

After sheng's feedback, ShenYu PPMCs have good communication with the
dromara community. these links have been cleaned up.

As we all know, Apache ShenYu is copyright by ASF, as you can tell
from the name.

Hi,

I think that reminding the mentor to vote.

If the mentor is busy and doesn't have time, may need to seek more
mentor to help.

Can other IPMCs take the time to help check it?, brpc is a great

Hi,

Very happy to see the name ,

BTW, It refers to Telperion(silver tree)in Two Trees of Valinor?

《The Silmarillion》is my favorite stories. And now the TV of 《The Rings

  The name is really great,

I think it's cool to introduce this fantasy tree to the Apache world.

Re: [RESULT][VOTE] Release Apache Teaclave (incubating) v0.5.1-rc.2

2023-05-31 Thread Yu Xiao
Dear He Sun,

It is very useful for PPMC and dev to check of the vote thread[1],
rather than simply +1 (for incaubating project).

There may be the following reasons:

1. there may be many processes not match the apache release (e.g.
license and notice file).
2. more than 1 release manager if needed to graduate from apache incubator.

[DISCUSS] Incubating Proposal for OzHera

2023-09-04 Thread Yu Xiao
Dear incubator community,

I would like to propose OzHera[1] as a new apache incubator project, you
can find the proposal[2] of OzHera for more detail.

OzHera is an application performance observation platform that centers
around applications,
integrating metric monitoring, link tracing, logs, alerts, and other
capabilities.
The Hera platform has the following core features:

** Embrace Cloud Native
Complies with the Opentracing standard, integrating multiple star
open-source products such as OpenTelemetry,
Grafana, Prometheus, ES, CAdvisor, etc. At the same time, Hera deeply
adapts to K8S,
providing one-click deployment on K8S through operator.

** Precise: Availability Metrics
We have defined corresponding availability metrics for common RPC
(Dubbo, HTTP, etc.) requests.
These request-scope metrics are automatically extracted from tracing
by Hera, and during extraction,
we enhance the ability to recognize business error codes.
A single metric can accurately express the exceptions encapsulated by
RPC and business processing.

** Quick: Metrics-Tracing-Logging Linkage
Based on traceId, it links the alarm -> metrics -> link -> log closed loop.
>From the moment the alarm card touches the user, the user can quickly
view the link and log situation related to this alarm,
greatly improving the efficiency of problem locating.

** Economical
Less than 0.1% storage cost, satisfying 99.9% of tracing demands
OzHera achieves the recognition of abnormal calls (error span,
abnormal business error codes,
error logs, single span time exceeding 1 second, etc.) and ensures the
storage of data for the entire call link of abnormal traces.
For normal traces, we adopt a default random sampling strategy of one
in ten thousand.

** Enterprise-level Observable Products
Complete account, permission, application management mechanisms,
allowing users to quickly implement within the enterprise and connect
to the enterprise’s own account, application deployment system, etc.
It can also quickly dock with enterprise office software to achieve
alarm touch. Core links are well decoupled for rapid scaling,
and for large volumes of tracing, we have implemented tail sampling strategies,
able to support high qps, real-time observable demands of high
timeliness systems.

HI tison,

This may be the description of the problem where the mentor is
volunteering to help with the project .
The understanding of the task here is that the mentor suggests some
practices the Apache Way!

mentor covers what division? And how you previously assigned tasks to the
initial committers and what the tasks are.

2023-09-09 Thread Yu Xiao
Hi Justin,

Thank you so much for your reply and advice.

I will discuss with the current mentors about the suggestion and also
try to find new mentors to increase the diversity.

The project leaders have already started working on the issues raised
by other IPMCs, such as "Initial committers proposal", "Ozhera
separation from Mone", "IP and License clean" etc.

Hope I could share a refined proposal in the near future!

Best wishes!

Re: [DISCUSS] Incubating Proposal of Seata

2023-10-14 Thread Yu Xiao
I have the same question as Huxing Zhang.

I remember when apache shenyu joined the incubator, the init committer
list, and there was a discussion about that as well.

Maybe it's a way to get the project changed to work the apache way.

Is there a public place to see these (github issue or else)?

> Regarding who should be the initial committer, the community follows the
principles of fairness and openness. We sent notifications through email
list and Dingtalk group to all committers/maintainers, informing them about
the news of the public application for initial committer. Before submitting
the proposal, we accepted all proactive applications.

Best wishes!
