2011-01-12 Thread Gabriele Columbro

Dear Incubator PMC members,
on behalf of the Chemistry dev team, I'd like to ask your approval to
release the RC1 packages as Chemistry OpenCMIS 0.2.0-incubating.

The release has passed the Chemistry PMC vote: http://bit.ly/i0qwI0
During the vote, also 1 IPMC (Jukka Zitting) vote has been collected,
so we'd need 2 more IPMC +1 to proceed with the release.

Detailed release notes can be found in Jira at: http://bit.ly/fcewS7

Main release candidate packages (for distribution at apache.org/dist)
are at: http://people.apache.org/~gabriele/chemistry/opencmis/0.2.0-incubating-RC1/dist/
The full set of Maven artifacts (for distribution at
repository.apache.org) is at: https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachechemistry-013/

Sources tag can be found at:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/chemistry/opencmis/tags/chemistry-opencmis-0.2.0-incubating-RC1/

The staging maven documentation site is at :
http://people.apache.org/~gabriele/chemistry/opencmis/0.2.0-incubating-RC1/site/

Artifacts have been signed using key D0383AE5 (publicly available at http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=vindex&search=0xB0E9DD9ED0383AE5
 and under http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/chemistry/opencmis/trunk/KEYS)
.

The vote is open for 72 hours.

Please cast your votes!

Hi all,
just a reminder for this vote, which is now been open for a full week.

As Nick correctly mentions here, we just need one more IPMC +1 to get
this release out.
Would be great if someone can take this on, so we can move forward
with pushing out the release.

Thanks in advance,

License text needed for dependencies or URL is enough? (was: Re: [VOTE] Apache Chemistry OpenCMIS 0.2.0-incubating (RC1))

2011-01-21 Thread Gabriele Columbro

Hi Ant,
first off thanks for taking time for testing this release and giving
us the final and so much needed +1. Will send vote result email right
away.

About licensing concerns, our first release (0.1.0 RC1) was rejected
for this kind of reasons and we *should* have fixed those in 0.1.0-RC2
(as per https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CMIS-224).

@IPMC: any comments on whether license URL is fine or the full license
text should be included for dependencies?

I'm also wondering how other projects using the standard Maven Apache
release process deal with this, as our DEPENDENCIES file are generated
according to that logic.

Thanks for any comment!
Gab

Hi Thorsten,
When we prepared the Chemistry OpenCMIS release process, we referred to the
Maven specific Apache release guide [1].

As an example, OpenCMIS specific release info can be found at [2] (though we
still need to update it after the recent TLP graduation).

thanks for the heads up. See my comments below:

Sorry, but I'm -1 on this. I think you need to fix at least one of
the problems raised in https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/
CMIS-224 before we can bless the release.

Np, I guess that's just one healthy step in the maturation process of
an incubator podling :)

All your release artifacts need a NOTICE and LICENSE, war archives
are no exception, as per

http://www.apache.org/dev/release.html#what-must-every-release-contain
You need to either fix your release process to include these files
in your war archives, or exclude them from the release for not.

They actually are in there, only (way too hidden) under WEB-INF/
classes/META-INF: I'll tweak the usage of the maven-remote-resources
plugin so that they are clearly accessible in META-INF.
We'll also have to check for completeness of those files (as per https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CMIS-224)
 before proposing the release again.

You'll hear from us soon again (hopefully) :)

Hi all,
after 72 hours (actually almost 77 now :) this vote has started and
together with those received on the podling list [1],
we have now received sufficient IPMC binding votes to proceed with the
release of Chemistry OpenCMIS 0.1.0.

Resuming, we got 3 binding IPMC +1 votes and no 0 or -1 votes as

I'd like to take the opportunity to thank everyone that helped making
this 1st release happen, *especially* the dev team for delivering a
great piece of software and the mentors / incubator at large for
helping us growing Chemistry the ASF way.

And let this be just the 0.1st of many successful releases :)

Thanks,
