[ANNOUNCE] Apache OpenWhisk Composer 0.9.0-incubating released

2018-12-05 Thread David P Grove

The Apache OpenWhisk (incubating) community is happy to announce that the
Apache OpenWhisk Composer 0.9.0-incubating module has been released. This
is the first Apache release of this module.

Apache OpenWhisk (Incubating) is an open source, distributed Serverless
platform that executes functions (fx) in response to events at any scale.
The OpenWhisk platform supports a programming model in which developers
write functional logic (called Actions), in any supported programming
language, that can be dynamically scheduled and run in response to
associated events (via Triggers) from external sources ( Feeds) or from
HTTP requests.

The Apache OpenWhisk Composer module supports a new programming model for
composing cloud functions built on Apache OpenWhisk.

The release artifacts are available at:
https://openwhisk.incubator.apache.org/downloads.html

Signatures of the release artifacts can be found at:

https://www.apache.org/dist/incubator/openwhisk/apache-openwhisk-0.9.0-incubating/

As this is the first release of this module, there is no ChangeLog.

Find more about our project at:
 - Project Site: https://openwhisk.incubator.apache.org/
 - Github mirror: https://github.com/apache/incubator-openwhisk
 - Mailing list(s): d...@openwhisk.incubator.apache.org

regards,

--dave
on behalf of the Apache OpenWhisk PPMC

--

Apache OpenWhisk is an effort undergoing incubation at The Apache Software
Foundation (ASF), sponsored by the Apache Incubator. Incubation is required
of all newly accepted projects until a further review indicates that the
infrastructure, communications, and decision making process have stabilized
in a manner consistent with other successful ASF projects. While incubation
status is not necessarily a reflection of the completeness or stability of
the code, it does indicate that the project has yet to be fully endorsed by
the ASF.

IPMC Board report - missing podling reports

2018-12-05 Thread Justin Mclean
Hi,

We’ve got a number of podlings expected to report this month but missing from
the report, they include:
BRPC
DLab
IoTDB
Marvin-AI
OpenWhisk
Pinot

Unless they get their reports in ASAP they will be noted in the report and be
asked to report next month.

I notice DLab has a report on it’s dev list but not submitted it, can one of
the PPMC or mentors help out here?

Thanks,
Justin

[VOTE] Graduate Apache Airflow to TLP

2018-12-05 Thread Jakob Homan
Hello-

The Airflow podling community has VOTEd[0] to graduate, following a
very successful DISCUSS[1]. Accordingly I'm bringing the resolution
up for an IPMC VOTE.

The podling result was:
Overall: 21 x +1 votes, 0 x -1 votes

Binding +1 x 11: Kaxil, Tao, Bolke, Fokko, Maxime, Arthur, Hitesh,
Chris, Sid, Ash, Jakob.
Non-binding +1 x 10: Daniel, Shah, Stefan, Kevin, Marc, Sunil,
Adityan, Deng, Neelesh, Sai

Since entering the Incubator in 2016, the Airflow community has:
   * successfully produced 7 releases
   * added 9 new committers/PPMC members
   * built a diverse group of committers from multiple different employers
   * had more than 3,300 JIRA tickets opened
   * completed the project maturity model with positive responses[2]

Here's my binding +1. The VOTE will run for at least 72 hours.

Thanks,
Jakob
