[VOTE] incubator_corinthia_release_0.1

2015-08-23 Thread jan i
Hi

The corinthia podling have voted on a release and would now like the IPMC
to vote.

We thank Justin Mclean for his highly valuable help in getting the bits
right.

Release artifacts can be found at:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/incubator/corinthia/

In case of doubt the signing has been done with my key (j...@apache.org)
which are available in apache KEYS as well as public servers.

Please Vote:
[ ] +1 for accepting the release
[ ] +0 for not caring about the release
[ ] -1 for not accepting the release, must give a reason.

Rules are the normal
min. 3 +1 and no -1

Vote runs at least until Thursday 20th August or continue until we have the
needed 3 +1.

In the PPMC VOTE 2 IPMC cast a +1
Daniel Gruno cast a +1
Jan Iversen cast a +1

Thanks in advance for helping us making our first release.
rgds
jan i.

Hi

I am pleased to announce that we can continue with our release. It has been
a long
journey so far and the next step is to have IPMC vote for the release.

The vote passed with:
8 +1 (include 1 Mentor vote)
0 +0 (Dennis gave this in the PRE-VOTE, but wrote "I do not give permission
for this to be applied automatically to a genuine [VOTE]" so it is not
counted.
0 -1

4 PPMC abstained from voting (will be discussed later on private).

Daniel Gruno and Myself have binding IPMC votes, which I will transfer.

rgds

Re: [VOTE] incubator_corinthia_release_0.1

2015-08-23 Thread John D. Ament
Jan,

Couple of notes:

- File should be named XX-incubating not incubator-XX.
- You have a LINK_DEPENDENCIES.txt which seems to represents a NOTICES
file. As well as a DISCLAIMER file. Not sure its role.
- Remove the file extension from NOTICE/LICENSES.txt.
- Your source distribution includes w3c-tidy-html5 plus its license, but is
not references in your NOTICE file.

- Files missing headers:
- InfoPlist.strings
- DocFormats-info.plist
- The entire test/data directory (maybe its a limitation of the data?)

2015-08-23 Thread Justin Mclean
Hi,

> - File should be named XX-incubating not incubator-XX.

Yep that should be the case - see 3.1 of [1], but I think this can be corrected
next release.

> - You have a LINK_DEPENDENCIES.txt which seems to represents a NOTICES
> file. As well as a DISCLAIMER file. Not sure its role.

A disclaimer is required and is usually in a DISCLAIMER file [2].
"For releases, the text SHOULD be included in a separate DISCLAIMER file stored
alongside the NOTICE and LICENSE files.”

Link dependancies don’t need to be listed in the NOTICE file but only what is
actually bundled in the release. [3]

> - Remove the file extension from NOTICE/LICENSES.txt.

.txt is acceptable see [4] "They may be named LICENSE.txt and NOTICE.txt"

> - Your source distribution includes w3c-tidy-html5 plus its license, but is
> not references in your NOTICE file.

IMO there no need as it is under permissive BSD style license licensed [5].

Justin

Re: [VOTE] incubator_corinthia_release_0.1

2015-08-23 Thread Justin Mclean
Hi,

+1 binding

I checked:
 - signatures and hashes correct
 - file names contain incubator rather than incubating - but intent is clear
 - DISCLAIMER exits
 - LICENSE and NOTICE correct
 - All source files have Apache headers
 - No unexpected binary files

I wasn’t to able to compile from source as I don’t have the correct environment
set up, but I could follow the build instructions.

Please fix the release artefact name for the net release - incubating rather
than incubator.

Things you may want to think about changing of for the next release, however
none are actually required.
 - put the hashes in .md5 / .sha files rather than CHECKSUMS (tends to be the
way it’s done)
 - have the version number in the unzipped directory (incubator-corinthia)
 - InfoPlist.strings has zero real content so an Apache header not needed but
could be added for completeness
 - Be nice to have the build instruction in the release and not referenced via
a URL (as the URL and it’s contents may change)

Thanks,
Justin

Re: [VOTE] Ripple Release 0.9.32

2015-08-23 Thread Daniel Gruno
I am unsure whether this is a request for IPMC votes, or just a notice
that a vote is coming. The subject does not match the first line of text :)

In any case, I checked the RC, verified the archive (
http://compliance.rocks/result.html?25e563c1 ) with a few 3rdparty and
CSS files excluded in the scan (as you can see on that page), and it
passed. The build works, I'm not interested in the test framework.

Consider this a (latent) +1.

With regards,
Daniell.

Re: [VOTE] Ripple Release 0.9.32

2015-08-23 Thread Justin Mclean
Hi,

+1 binding

I checked:
- signatures and hashed good
- filename contains incubating
- DISCLAIMER exits
- LICENSE and NOTICE good
- no unexpected binaries
- all source files have headers

I did’t have an environment set that could compile the project. Would be nice
to have pointer on how to set up “jake".

What's the provanance of these two files? I notice the first can be found here
[1]
ripple-emulator-0.9.32-incubating/thirdparty/dredd.txt
ripple-emulator-0.9.32-incubating/thirdparty/fail.txt

The header on lib/client/platform/webworks.core/2.0.0/client/utils.js is
probably a little misleading as it contains a mix of licensed code, but not
sure if any changes are required.

There’s no need (but no issue) for Rico or XMLHttpRequest.js to be included in
LICENSE as they Apache licensed. [2]

Thanks,
Justin
