[VOTE] Release of Apache Olingo 1.1.0 incubating (RC03)

2014-01-31 Thread Amend, Christian
Dear all,

This is a call for a vote on Apache Olingo 1.1.0 incubating. This is our 3rd try
of our 2nd release. We have resolved all issues which were discussed since our
1st release candidate.

Apache Olingo is a library implementing OData V2 protocol specification.

A vote was held on the Olingo developer mailing list and it passed with eight +1
votes where two +1 votes came from our mentors. The vote had zero -1 or 0 votes
(see the vote thread [1] and result thread [2]), and now requires a vote on this
list.

The vote will be open for 72 hours and passes if a majority of at least 3 +1
IPMC votes are cast.

[ ] +1 Release this package as Apache Olingo 1.1.0 incubating
[ ] -1 Do not release this package because ...

Best Regards,
Christian

best development methodology for Apache git?

2014-01-31 Thread James Taylor
The Phoenix project has recently come into incubation from it's former life
as a Github project. I believe other projects have made this same
transition, so I'm looking to get some advice from them. What's the best
development methodology folks have found for collaborative development when
your source of truth is an Apache git repo? Something like the Github model
that combines a) the ability for managing branches and visually reviewing
patches and b) a means to gate commits against the single source of truth,
the git repo.

Gerrit meets this requirement and based on INFRA-2205 used to be setup. If
that's not an option, what have folks found that works well?

Thanks,
James

Over at Apache jclouds we're running a similar setup, with our main repos in
ASF Git mirrored to GitHub for interaction with contributors. Feel free to ask
on dev@j.a.o or hop onto #jclouds at Freenode for more details!

Regards

Re: Incubator ApacheCon presentations

2014-01-31 Thread Suresh Marru
These are great topics Marvin, looking foreword for them.

Hi All,

I am planning to propose a talk targeted for recently graduated incubator
podlings. Along with sharing my own experiences, I want to highlight importance
of giving back to IPMC by hanging around and helping future podlings, and most
importantly some of the pitfalls to avoid once we move into self-governance
mode.

Any volunteers to join in co-presenting this talk or contributing to the
content? We don’t need to overwhelm the mailing list and choose to directly
email me at smarru at a.o

Thanks,
Suresh
