please tidy up at Incubator

2012-08-29 Thread David Crossley
Congratulations for getting out of the Incubator.

There is some stuff that still needs to be finalised.

Not sure what else, but there are at least some things
in this list:

Hi David,

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner. Thanks for the reminder(s),
I'll try and get to these asap, realistically that's not going to be before
the coming weekend n unless another member of the PMC can see to it?

Thanks,

Tom

RE: Potential proposal + request volunteers for champion & mentor roles

2012-08-29 Thread Kasper Sørensen
Hi again all,

We now have a draft proposal. I will send to Dave as agreed, but are anyone
else also interested in this? Please advice - should I post the complete draft
proposal here, or only send to individuals who wish to help/mentor the proposal?

Regards,
Kasper

Hi Dave,

Great! And indeed MetaModel does already make use of both Apache POI (for Excel
spreadsheets) and OpenOffice (although currently using a "raw" HSQLDB-based
approach to .odb files). So I think it sounds like you could be a really good
mentor for the project.

I will write a draft Incubator proposal based on the Proposal Template [0] and
send it to you so we can talk about how to go further.

Regards,
Kasper

Hi,

I can see this project being useful in a number of ways. It is a very common
pattern that data needs to be put in and out of some combination of
spreadsheets, text files and databases.

I'm totally willing to be a Mentor for this podling proposal. It fits well with
my participation in POI, OpenOffice, ODF Toolkit, and Flex along with use of
Tomcat, PDFBox and Lucene/Solr.

I can also see how Gora might want to use MetaModel as well as MetaModel having
a Gora interface.

Regards,
Dave

I should have made it more clear that the note was only to
assist those two specific projects which have been out of
the Incubator for some time, yet still have some key resources
that they have not yet updated.
