Re: [Ada] 4.3.0-rc1 available

2008-02-24 Thread Laurent GUERBY
Clear for Ada on x86 and x86_64-linux:

http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-testresults/2008-02/msg01630.html
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-testresults/2008-02/msg01586.html

I see lots of libmudflap FAIL on both targets though, is someone
working on those FAIL?

I collected on gcc-testresults quite good Ada results for 4.3 on:

powerpc64-suse-linux-gnu
hppa2.0w-hp-hpux11.11
hppa-unknown-linux-gnu
s390-ibm-linux-gnu
s390x-ibm-linux-gnu
sparc-sun-solaris2.11
sparc-sun-solaris2.6
powerpc64-suse-linux-gnu
ia64-suse-linux-gnu
mips-sgi-irix5.3

Note very good (tasking likely not implemented and not signaled as
such):
i386-unknown-netbsdelf3.1
x86_64-unknown-netbsd4.0

Missing are Ada results for x86-darwin and powerpc-darwin, I've CCed
macada.org people who seem to provide 4.3 based Ada for both targets:

http://macada.org/macada/Downloads.html

Alan & Al, do you have testresults?

Matthias Klose provided Debian-20080113-1 4.3 results with Ada for
ia64/sparc/s390/powerpc/i486/hppa/x86_64. Only missing from debian are
mips, mipsel and alpha which were present with Ada for 4.1.

Matthias are there known issues for 4.3/Ada on those targets or just
lack of interest?

Another detail: md5.sum does not contain the hash
for the gcc-4.3.0-RC-20080222.tar.bz2.tar.bz2 file
(which I assume is the prefered download since it's
23% smaller than the .tar.gz).

Sincerely,

Laurent

Thanks for your explanation (and Andrew's in a private message). I was
looking for this info in a FAQ but couldn't find it.

recent build logs can be found here:
http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?pkg=gnat-4.3

alpha currently fails with a bootstrap comparision failure (Ludovic?);
the mips buildd's do have unrelated problem; asking our mips porters
to do manual builds.

Uros looked at this for me and thinks it might be due to using an old
libc on the cfarm. I'll let him explain exactly what's needed.

For x86_64 I used debian 4.0 libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13 (I can update to
2.3.6.ds1-13etch5).

For x86 I used the much older ubuntu 5.10 libc6 2.3.5-1ubuntu12.

GCC mirror changing IPs

2008-02-24 Thread Joe Laffey

Hi,

We operate a GCC release mirror in St. Louis, MO (mirrors.laffeycomputer.com).

This server has changed IP addresses, which is normally no worry on your end.
But the old IP had special access to the master server to be able to download
the releases right when they came out, and thus take some load off of your
servers. This new IP address does not seem to have that.

The old IP was 66.165.104.114 and the new IP is 71.91.230.170. Both should have
a revers DNS PTR of pong.laffeycomputer.com.

If you could enable the mirror access for the new IP I would appreciate it.
Note that the old IP may be active for a little while as well. I am using it to
get the latest release right now.

Thanks,

In my (working) case:

GNU C Library stable release version 2.5, by Roland McGrath et al.

Without knowing libc details I would say that 2.3.6 has a fatal bug

possible bug with libstdc++ in gcc4.3 20080215 linked to old user /usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib

2008-02-24 Thread George Nurser
I installed gcc4.3 20080215 on os x10.5.2 using macports

The configure arguments (with prefix = /opt/local) are:
47  configure.args  --enable-languages=c,c++,objc,obj-c++ \
48  --libdir=${prefix}/lib/${name} \
49  --includedir=${prefix}/include/${name} \
50  --infodir=${prefix}/share/info \
51  --mandir=${prefix}/share/man \
52  --with-local-prefix=${prefix} \
53  --with-system-zlib \
54  --disable-nls \
55  --program-suffix=-mp-${major} \
56  --with-gxx-include-dir=${prefix}/include/${name}/c++/ \
57  --with-gmp=${prefix} \
58  --with-mpfr=${prefix}

 % otool -L /opt/local/lib/gcc43/libstdc++.6.dylib
gives:

/opt/local/lib/gcc43/libstdc++.6.dylib:
/opt/local/lib/gcc43/libstdc++.6.dylib (compatibility version 7.0.0,
current version 7.10.0)
/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current
version 111.0.0)
/usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version
1.0.0)

So /opt/local/lib/gcc43/libstdc++.6.dylib is linked to the old, system
/usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib instead of to the new
/opt/local/lib/gcc43/libgcc_s.1.dylib

Is this the correct behaviour?

I've forwarded this to the group of admins for the gcc.gnu.org machine.
