xfce default theme/icons

2013-04-05 Thread Joel Dahl
Hi,

I've just installed xfce for the first time in years, after reading the xfce
4.10 tour [1]. However, the default desktop that I get does not look anything
like the desktop shown on the xfce.org front page [2] or on any of the tour
screenshots. The icons are not the same, the panel looks different etc. Why is
that?

You must configure the Desktop in the way you want it to be.

Why is our default desktop different from the the xfce default desktop? Or is
the desktop shown at xfce.org a customized desktop?

I'm not sure but I don't think they are showing a default desktop.

ah, interesting. this problem seems to *never* happen when not using a
 "maximized" terminal.

If the terminal is not taking up the entire desktop, ctrl-shift-t seems
 to always work.

Default theme looks like that,
http://cdn.xfce.org/about/screenshots/4.10-2.png (it's default themes for
gtk2 and xfwm4 and default wallpaper).

You can try x11-themes/greybird-theme.

For icons x11-themes/gnome-icons-faenza or
x11-themes/gnome-icons-elementary. But these icons don't follow freedesktop
spec (it's SVG images, they should go into scalable/ directory).
