Hi,

Try plugging the adapter a few times and see if appears like USB 3.0.

You are sure the USB port you are using is USB 3.0 capable?

The USB 3.0 controller you have "Lynx Point" is know to require special quirks
in order for USB 3.0 ports to become active. Please also check your BIOS
settings.

Hi,

The Lynx Point needs some magic to enable proper port rounting. By default all
ports are USB 2.0.

Possibly by putting the correct value into:

hw.usb.xhci.xhci_port_route

In /boot/loader.conf

It will work.

Hi,

Could you check with a tool like wireshark, if the network adapter has data
loss. Can also be checked using "ifconfig ue0".

For example if you "ping -f -s 1500 xxx" to some local address, how much packet
loss is there?

What I see in the dmesg, is that there is a device that has trouble
enumerating. See the IO-ERROR. If you enable hw.usb.uhub.debug=16 you will see
the portnumber.

BTW: You should try:

0x1
0x2
..
0x8000

Because the device has many ports.

Hi,

You need to put the sysctl setting into:
/boot/loader.conf

Because the failing enumeration happens very early on.

I'm not sure if this is an issue:

# dmesg | grep Port routing
xhci0: Port routing mask set to 0xfffb
xhci0: Port routing mask set to 0x

# sysctl -a | grep xhci_port
hw.usb.xhci.xhci_port_route: 4

# cat /boot/loader.conf
hw.usb.xhci.xhci_port_route="0x4"

does not matter what i set hw.usb.xhci.xhci_port_route to in /boot/loader.conf,
the last entry from dmesg matching routing is always

xhci0: Port routing mask set to 0x

I scp-ed a file > 10MB to/from the laptop and that would trigger the panic.
Since i applied the patch, the panic issue is resolved.

The rest of this thread is about usb 3. maybe that should be a separate

updated to 10.0-STABLE r268239.

No reproduce-able panic.
No improvement in networking speed.

Hi,

Your patch looks reasonable. I'll test and commit it next week. If I forget
please remind me. Probably you should check the return value of the USB request
and print a debug message if it fails. I'll fix that.

Thank you!

I've got this when inserting this very usb memory stick. And, no /dev/da*
devices created. More over, when I de-inserting stick, I've got problems, such
as when I de-insert with mounted stick (PS/2 keyboard dies!, other bug
report?).

Similar to 179107 and 179109 (though didn't try fix from 179109 yet).
When I detach mounted USB memory stick, keyboard dies. The same happens when I
detach "bad" memory stick, that I can't mount on my FreeBSD-9.3-RELEASE.

Same patch but reduced to including only E3272 related changes; the rest was
committed.

The attached patch has been reduced to the stuff which has not yet been
committed. Please note that this patch can not be applied as is to the sources
due to me picking out the rest of the patch and committing that.

This patch I am not quite sure how it works: It looks like the u3g driver is
used to do the eject and ignore the device afterwards. The change around line
857 in u3g.c I don't like. Could you attach the output of

   dmesg

after attaching the device? And the output of

   usbconfig -d ugenX.Y dump_device_desc

Thanks for the other changes! They have been committed (in some form).

The real problem in my case (and in general probably) is that the SYSINIT/probe
order for ukbd is too late. Setting the kern.cam.boot_delay tunable to 3
(30 seconds) in loader gave ukbd enough time to probe and attach my USB
keyboard before the system panicked at the mountroot prompt.

I concur that using the "usbconfig ... UQ_MSC_NO_PREVENT_ALLOW"
command fixes the problem temporarily

I run FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE-p7

To fix the problem temporarily:
1) plug in the dongle

2) Run usbconfig to find the unit (5) and address (2) of the usb

  ugen5.2: at usbus5, cfg=0 md=HOST spd=HIGH
(480Mbps) pwr=ON (100mA)

3) Run usbconfig again to set the flag:

4) unplug and replug the dongle.

[Bug 192755] New: snd_uaudio incorrect handling of version 1 audio format type descriptor

2014-08-17 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=192755

Bug ID: 192755
Summary: snd_uaudio incorrect handling of version 1 audio
format type descriptor
   Product: Base System
   Version: 10.0-STABLE
  Hardware: amd64
OS: Any
Status: Needs Triage
  Severity: Affects Only Me
  Priority: ---
 Component: usb
  Assignee: freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org
  Reporter: juanma...@ono.com

For USB audio 1.0 formats the code in uaudio.c uses the value of bBitResolution
from the descriptor directly to choose and internal audio format from the array
uaudio10_formats. It should use the value from bSubFrameSize instead.
It is clearly specified in the official USB document for audio data formats,
page 9 under the section "2.2.2 Audio Subframe" that the endpoint must be
handled using bSubFramSize*8 bits per sample from which the device will take
the number of bits it actually uses.
In my particular case I own a device reporting bBitResolution of 24 and
bSubFrameSize of 4. An unpatched driver will be sending 3-byte subframes to the
endpoint resulting in pure noise :)

For USB 2.0 formats the code already does some conversion to avoid this same
problem, using the equivalent bSubslotSize in the function
uaudio_chan_fill_info_sub:

 /* Map 4-byte aligned 24-bit samples into 32-bit */
if (bBitResolution == 24 && bSubslotSize == 4)
bBitResolution = 32;

if (bBitResolution != (bSubslotSize * 8)) {
DPRINTF("Invalid bSubslotSize\n");
goto next_ep;
}

After the patch the format seems to be correct, showing the following output in
dmesg:
uaudio0: on usbus7
uaudio0: Play: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, 32-bit S-LE PCM format, 2x8ms buffer.
uaudio0: Record: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, 32-bit S-LE PCM format, 2x8ms buffer.
uaudio0: MIDI sequencer.

Unfortunately this card also needs other code changes and quirks to work, but I
hope your patch can help other people with devices using non-typical bit
resolutions.

[Bug 192755] snd_uaudio incorrect handling of version 1 audio format type descriptor

2014-08-27 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=192755

Author: hselasky
Date: Wed Aug 27 14:22:40 UTC 2014
New revision: 270717
URL: http://svnweb.freebsd.org/changeset/base/270717

Log:
  MFC r270134:
Use the "bSubslotSize" and "bSubFrameSize" fields to obtain the actual
sample size. According to the USB audio frame format specification
from USB.org, the value in the "bBitResolution" field can be less than
the actual sample size, depending on the actual hardware, and should
not be used for this computation.

[Bug 193279] New: Corsair K70 Gaming Keyboard will not function on boot

2014-09-03 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=193279

Bug ID: 193279
Summary: Corsair K70 Gaming Keyboard will not function on boot
   Product: Base System
   Version: 9.0-STABLE
  Hardware: amd64
OS: Any
Status: Needs Triage
  Severity: Affects Only Me
  Priority: ---
 Component: usb
  Assignee: freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org
  Reporter: l...@foolishgames.com

The Corsair K70 keyboard has the same issue as a K60 and requires a USB quirk
to function under FreeBSD. Without the quirk, the keyboard detects in dmesg,
but does not actually take input.

These additions to usbdevs and usb_quirks.c seemed to fix it much like the
change for the K60.

product CORSAIR K70 0x1b09 Corsair Vengeance K70 keyboard

 USB_QUIRK(CORSAIR, K70, 0x, 0x, UQ_KBD_BOOTPROTO),

Hi,

Can you also dump the USB and HID descriptors of your device. Maybe it is
possible to make a more generic quirk?

Can you edit this file:

/usr/local/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/10-x11-input.fdi

And change:

kbd

Into:

kbd_dummy

Then restart hal.

Possibly you need a keyboard device entry in /etc/X11/xorg.conf after this
change.
