pkg doesn't deal with perl minor upgrade? Re: svn commit: r306959 - in head: . lang/perl5.16
What is the recommended procedure to deal with perl modules after a perl minor version upgrade like this? poudriere rebuilt all my perl modules when perl went to 5.16.2 but none of them get pulled down by pkg, just perl itself. perl-after-upgrade doesn't see any packages installed. I spot checked a perl module and it is still in /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.16.0 but that is no longer in the perl include path. At this point I would either hand pick the perl modules and force reinstall them, or use the big hammer and do pkg upgrade -f. Is there something better? Thanks. [CFT] devel/binutils 2.23
Hi! Attached is a patch that updates the devel/binutils port to the latest version, 2.23. This is a minor version, and looking at the release notes I can't see anything suprising. Nonetheless it would be very good to have it tested before I commit the update (sometime after 9.1 when the ports tree is unfrozen). I am especially interested in testing on things not i386 or amd64, since I only have access to those architectures. When applying the patch, remember to add -E to patch, to remove empty files. Process question: port commits -> FTP package generation
How do commits to a port ultimately make it out to the FTP mirrors in package form? For instance, the following update dates indicate there is no automated dependency engine doing this (surely to avoid some chaos and engine difficulty). With the exception of the 4 month spread in the file dates for 9i, it seems plausible the other three branches were all built in one run during the up to 4 day spread in their ls dates. Is there a doc I can read about this overall process? Is there a tinderbox with interim builds and logs and things? 8a Oct 11 20:08 CHECKSUM.MD5 8i Sep 17 14:26 CHECKSUM.MD5 9a Oct 16 23:13 CHECKSUM.MD5 9i Oct 26 10:21 CHECKSUM.MD5 ___ freebsd-ports@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-ports To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-ports-unsubscr...@freebsd.org"

general ports config question
Tried getting an answer on questions but nothing useful; hope this is appropriate. I've been wanting gimp 2.8.0 (now 2.8.2) for a bit and as it's been slow to show up in the ports collection, thought I would see about building it. Unfortunately, I don't know squat about the process but figured trying it would help slow my brain from atrophying at its currently rapidly accelerating pace. Not wanting to disrupt my current environment (gimp 2.6 built from ports), I wanted to build 2.8 someplace else. Since gimp-2.8.2 requires babl-0.1.10, I thought I'd start there. It's not clear to me what params or environment variables to set prior to running ./configure to generate a Makefile which will cause it to: 1. use stuff in the work directory by preference, 2. still find installed stuff in /usr/local if necessary; 3. install the result in a different place, e.g. /usr/local in the work directory. Unpacked the tarball in a work directory. Just doing ./configure and then make craps out with Making all in babl "Makefile", line 959: Missing dependency operator which is a line which says: -include $(INTROSPECTION_MAKEFILE) which is defined empty Looking at the installed version of babl (babl-0.1.6), this and other symbols are all defined to be something out of /usr/local which leads me to think I'm missing something pretty basic; I'm guessing those symbols should still be pointing at /usr/local/ via some defines I haven't set. hints?
