Probleme compiling icu freebsd 6

2006-11-06 Thread mihai
Hello,

I'm experiencing a series of problems while trying to compile icu-3.6.

I have the following:

FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE-p1

gcc 3.4.4

and

gcc 4.2

glib-2.12.4 compiled without collation fix

Upon compiling the port I got the classic "page already free" error message.
I've looked it up on this mailling list and on google and have followed
several guidelines pointed out by other people:
1. upgrading /recompiling glib without collation fix
2. upgrading compiler to gcc-4.1 or 4.2

By installing gcc-4.2 and using it to compile icu-3.6 I now obtain:
/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: ./iotest: Undefined symbol "_ZNSo9_M_insertEPKci"
*** Error code 1

Is there any way to fix this ? I don't know what else to try.
Is this a bug ?

Thanks,
Mihai

Current unassigned ports problem reports

2006-11-06 Thread FreeBSD bugmaster
Current FreeBSD problem reports
The following is a listing of current problems submitted by FreeBSD users.
These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental
development code and obsolete releases.
Bugs can be in one of several states:

o - open
A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed.

a - analyzed
The problem is understood and a solution is being sought.

f - feedback
Further work requires additional information from the
originator or the community - possibly confirmation of
the effectiveness of a proposed solution.

p - patched
A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or
confirmation from originator) are still open.

r - repocopy
The resolution of the problem report is dependent on
a repocopy operation within the CVS repository which
 is awaiting completion.

s - suspended
The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information
or resources. This is a prime candidate
for somebody who is looking for a project to do.
If the problem cannot be solved at all,
it will be closed, rather than suspended.

c - closed
A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated,
documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned.

We're closing the bugathon with the following numbers:

Due to technical problems we've closed less PRs than during the last
bugathon, but it didn't make the event any less useful.

It doesn't appear here but progress has been made on xorg-modular front,
thanks to people reporting bugs on x11@ or directly to me. If you're

Anyway I'd like to thank each and every committer/participant who joined

Happy bugbusting!

The server has been set up fresh, no problems occured during this

Is there a problem with the make file?

I plan to delete and reinstall the include and lib directories to
suppress old files which can be keeped by upgrade/uninstall but it is a
long way... and I am not sure that this solve this trouble.

The jdk 1.4 was working until I upgrade. I checked about:plugins.

You might make sure you have the very latest Firefox. Meaning, cvsup
today. And rebuild it. They don't mention what the real problem was so
I don't know if its your issue or not. But it might help.

There is a post in cvs-all@ where someone mentions java being fixed by a
particular update to the port. So you may have a port that predates
that fix.

Hope that does the trick.

Bit of a typo in my prev msg. It should read as above.

You're right, the latest Firefox-2.0_2,1 will fix Java and a few other
plugins.

VMware Workstation does not run on 2.0.x SMP Linux kernels. Please update to a 2.2.x or later SMP Linux kernel

2006-11-06 Thread Lane
Hello,

I've recently installed emulators/vmware3, purchased a linux license on ebay,
and ran into this message:

VMware Workstation does not run on 2.0.x SMP Linux kernels. Please update to
a 2.2.x or later SMP Linux kernel

Argh!

I'm running 5.4-RELEASE (SMP) but I get the same message on my laptop, running
6.1-RELEASE

I'm tempted to rebuild the kernel WITHOUT SMP, but I just want to know if
anyone else is able to run vmware 3 in ANY configuration with 5.4 or 6.1

Thanks,

lane

There's no maintainer. If you use it, maybe you'd like to upgrade it
yourself and post the necessary changes as a PR.

What is the output of 'sysctl compat.linux.osrelase'?

It shoud give you 2.4.2.

See the following post from a user who had the same problem:

http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-emulation/2003-July/000103.html

Make sure your not setting compat.linux.osrelease in your /etc/sysctl.conf file.
