FreeBSD news story

2015-11-24 Thread Denis Yanov

Hi, my company released new Delphi Data Access Components which are
available for FreeBSD. Those components have free trial
versions.

Can you post the following news post?

"Devart team is proud to introduce the new versions of Delphi Data Access
Components including such significant features as:

- RAD Studio 10 Seattle is supported and now you can use the latest IDE to
develop cross-platform applications.
- Now you can use INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE batch operations, that may
increase performance of huge data modifications up to 1000 times.
- MariaDB Embedded is supported
- Now the trial limitation by 6 columns is removed from the Trial version
for Win64 and it becomes a fully-functional Professional Edition.

Our Delphi components are libraries of components that provide direct access
to multiple databases from Delphi, C++Builder, Lazarus (and Free Pascal) on
Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, Android, Linux, and FreeBSD for both 32-bit and
64-bit platforms. We have combined the experience of long-term successful
development into one product, which provides unified access to multiple
database servers like Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, InterBase,
Firebird, PostgreSQL, SQLite, DB2, Microsoft Access, Sybase Advantage
Database Server, Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise, and other databases
(using ODBC provider).

They offer unified approach to the database-related applications development
process. That means you can switch easily between different databases in
your projects without going deep into their specifics.

Using them with its server-independent interface is the best way to create
cross-database applications.

You can find their description on the product page
https://www.devart.com/dac.html";

If you can't post it, please advice what I should remove or change to get it
posted?

[Bug 204017] man.cgi does not default to latest version+ports

2015-11-24 Thread bugzilla-noreply

Andreas Perstinger changed:

   What|Removed |Added

As noticed by Allan Jude, the easy fix would be to change the default man path
in man.cgi.

Another solution would be to use the "vendor" attribute (as explained in
share/xml/man-refs.ent) if it exists on the "citerefentry" element and add the
corresponding "manpath" URL parameter to the link. But then we also need to add
two more aliases in man.cgi because the vendor values "xorg" (currently used by
17 entries) and "ports" (currently used by 40 entries) are not known to the
script.

("current" isn't known either but the 5 entries in man-refs.ent that use it
[devfs, device.hints, nullfs, acpiconf, usbconfig] are all in the base system
and when the value of the "manpath" parameter isn't known to the script, it
falls back to the default. Thus I would rather modify the entries in
man-refs.ent, i.e. remove the vendor attribute from these entries.)

[Bug 204788] Kerberos chapter in the Handbook is out of date

2015-11-24 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=204788

Bug ID: 204788
Summary: Kerberos chapter in the Handbook is out of date
   Product: Documentation
   Version: Latest
  Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
  Severity: Affects Only Me
  Priority: ---
 Component: Documentation
  Assignee: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org
  Reporter: i...@michaeleichorn.com

The Kerberos chapter is out of step with CURRENT (and maybe 10?)

There are multiple errors in the Setting up a KDC section:

1) most of the code blocks after 'kadmin -l' are not accurate (there are more
questions now)

2) rc.d variables are out of date:
kerberos5_server_enable is now kdc_enable
kadmind5_server_enable is now kadmind_enable

This bug is still present in browsers such as Safari 9 and Chromium 46. The
attached screenshots shows how it looks in Safari (it looks the same in
Chromium). The "fixed" version of streambag.se looks different, but is still
far from correct.

[Bug 204795] LDAP chapter in Handbook is out of date

1) The instruction to create /var/db/openldap-data is no longer necessary, it
is created at package installation.

pkg query '%D' openldap-server
/var/run/openldap
/var/db/openldap-data
/usr/local/libexec/openldap
/usr/local/etc/openldap/schema

2) The instruction to copy /usr/local/etc/openldap/DB_CONFIG.example is wrong.
No such file is installed (confirmed with pkg query '%Fp' openldap-server). I
do not know what should be done here.

ports/UPDATING and commit logs show substantial configuration changes including
to the database setup. I have no idea what else may be out of date...
