Well, the entire mbuf(9) needs to be examined and fixed. I promised
myself to do that before stable/11.

I have no evidence, but suspect the number of people using non-VT100, 
non-ANSI terminal emulations is very small, and those people will 
probably not be bothered by escape sequences that do not render
