I don't get the warning when I pass the "nodev" option to mount. /etc/fstab: /dev/da0s2b /tmp mfs rw,-s131072 0 0 => warning message /etc/fstab: /dev/da0s2b /tmp mfs rw,nodev,-s131072 0 0 => no warning message Looking in sys/kern/kern_conf.c at the function udev2dev() gave me the clue to use "nodev". kernel panic: swapon
Cvsup'ed this morning and built world. All went swimmingly until reboot. I got this kernel panic: swapon: adding /dev/da0s2b as swap device panic: blst_radix_free: freeing free block The ordering of the swap partions does matter. I've done that twice. Buildworld failed both times. My last sucessful buildworld was last sunday, 5/21. Re: kernel compile error
Just finished up a buildworld/installworld to try and get the freshest binutil bits. Worked out fine. I supped around 22:15 UTC. Upon making a kernel I'm getting a different error. This time a header is missing or misplaced? Here's the error: ===> ipfilter cc -O -pipe -DIPFILTER_LKM -DIPFILTER_LOG -D_KERNEL -Wall -Wredundant-decls -Wnested-externs -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -Wpointer-arith -Winline -Wcast-qual -fformat-extensions -ansi -DKLD_MODULE -nostdinc -I- -I. -I@ -I@/../include -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -c /u2/src/sys/modules/ipfilter/../../netinet/ip_log.c /u2/src/sys/modules/ipfilter/../../netinet/ip_log.c:24: osreldate.h: No such file or directory In file included from /u2/src/sys/modules/ipfilter/../../netinet/ip_log.c:107: @/netinet/ip_fil.h:534: warning: redundant redeclaration of `send_reset' in same scope @/netinet/ip_fil.h:511: warning: previous declaration of `send_reset' @/netinet/ip_fil.h:535: warning: redundant redeclaration of `send_icmp_err' in same scope @/netinet/ip_fil.h:510: warning: previous declaration of `send_icmp_err' *** Error code 1 On Wed, 24 May 2000, John Baldwin wrote: > > On 24-May-00 Scott Flatman wrote: > > I've done that twice. And my Celeron with a ZX chipset is immune. I've noticed this on a VIA chipset machine. It also has ATA drives. It's running 5.0-current from 7/10. I have an HX chipset machine running -current from 7/10, same card, ATA drives, no error. A BX chipset machine running -current cooked today, same card, SCSI drives, no error. So I can quite easily reproduce it. :) I tried turning off softupdates on all partitions. Same panic. It also caused umount to hang the machine. I don't have softupdates on / either way. I rebuilt a kernel today, about 1 hour ago. Still panics either way, with or without softupdates.
