[Bug 284275] Jingsha B85M-I: System hangs on boot unless kern.smp.disabled=1
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=284275 --- Comment #5 from K4sum1 --- (In reply to Mark Johnston from comment #3) Did that, and got a dmesg.boot. I also was able to get a dmesg.boot from a soft reboot with SMP enabled, which I'll also attach. For other operating systems, I tested Windows 7, 8.1, and Xubuntu 24.04, and those are fine on this machine. I would test more, but Ventoy either doesn't boot the OS or the OS doesn't let me install it to the drive when booted with Ventoy, idk why. (In reply to John Baldwin from comment #4) > The fact that you are only getting that panic sometimes is very odd. It > means your firmware is not always generating that table. What I meant to say was it either gives the kernel panic or the OS freezes before it can give it. It doesn't sometimes boot. I could test w2k in MPS mode by attaching a DVD drive and seeing if that works. I'll do it if I don't feel lazy. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 284353] [patch] Remind about additional mode_t argument for open(2).
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=284353 --- Comment #3 from Konstantin Belousov --- The current form of the function prototype, with ellipses, is better then the fixed-args call prototype because typical arch has different ABI for vararg vs. fixed args. Since the system header provides the vararg prototype, current man page synopsis is the right thing to do. We can try to add additional specific invocation example for O_CREAT, but my feeling is that it is best to be done in the suggested dedicated paragraph for the flag. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=284353 --- Comment #2 from Artem Bunichev --- Well, separate description for it will be good too, thank you, I will add it. However, I'm also thinking maybe there is a way to put this invocation form (with mode_t argument) in the synopsis section? I discovered that mode_t argument used to be mentioned in there in early versions of FreeBSD. The last version I found it in is FreeBSD 2.2.7-RELEASE (https://man.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=open&apropos=0&sektion=2&manpath=FreeBSD+2.2.7-RELEASE&arch=default&format=html), but then it disappeared. Was there a reason for that? So maybe return it? And then a "reminder" I'm talking about will be present (it'll be even better because it will be in the very top of the page) and then we can remove extra information that I initially suggested from section of short flag descriptions and instead of that add a separate one below. What do you think? If it's OK, I'll do the changes and send a patch. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
