Travel assistance for GUADEC 2014
The GNOME Foundation can offer travel sponsorship to individuals who want to attend GUADEC and need financial assistance. We are happy to announce that the Travel Committee is ready to receive applications for sponsorships to attend to GUADEC 2014. Application deadline: 2014-05-31. Please send in your applications now, do not wait until the deadline. The instructions are detailed at https://wiki.gnome.org/Travel Please read them carefully. Some additional comments: * Any information you send to the Travel Committee will be private. * Asking for sponsorship *does not* guarantee that you will be sponsored. * A good application with good information will be processed faster. * If you are offered help with accommodation, the Travel Committee will book your accommodation. You should state that you need accommodation, and leave the cost blank. * Always choose the most economical option whenever possible. People who need travel sponsorship should look for the best price (i.e. through a service like kayak.com). If the Travel Committee finds a cheaper price, that will be the price considered during the evaluation. * No personal emails. Keep travel-committee CCed on all of your replies. Neglecting to do this will delay your application. * There are direct flights to Strasbourg available, including through budget airlines. Other close airports are Frankfurt (Germany), Charles de Gaulle (Paris) and Baden-Baden (Germany). * If you are a Foundation member, you should mention it in your application. Preference will be given to Foundation members. * If your abstract was accepted to be presented at GUADEC, you should mention it in your application. Preference will be given to people giving presentations at GUADEC. * If you are in the Google Summer of Code program or Outreach Program for Women (as student or mentor) you must mention it in your application. Preference will be given to GSoC or OPW interns and mentors. OPW and GSoC students usually get a percentage of their GUADEC expenses covered by their sponsoring organisation. * The Travel committee should confirm that we have received your application within 2-3 days. After that, we will process them together. So please do not panic (and have any butterflies in your stomach) if we take some time to respond with the status. Regardless of whether your application is accepted or rejected, you will always receive a response. You can find us in the #travel channel at irc.gnome.org. ___ foundation-list mailing list foundation-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/foundation-list
Mass Reboot: Monday 19th of May, 21.00 - 22.00 CET
Hi, we'll be performing a mass reboot of all our machines this upcoming monday to apply all the kernel and security updates. All the services will be affected for a few minutes until the machines reboot, please stay tuned for more updates from the Sysadmin Team and most of all keep an eye at [1], we'll make sure to update it as things move forward. We'll also take the time during the reboots to switch our current storage away from our current main NFS node to the brand new GlusterFS nodes. This should not affect the reboots planned downtime. Have an awesome day and thanks for your attention! Quoted instructions state people announce on foundation-announce. Instructions don't say to CC foundation-list, but to implicitly discuss candidates on foundation-list@gnome.org. Somehow. Does that mean we cross fingers that people find out how to set "Reply-To" in their mail clients? Looking at candidacy announcements so far, I see: foundation-announce: Tobi, Oliver, Jeff, Karen, Andrea. foundation-list: Tobi, Oliver, Jeff, Karen, Emily, Sriram, Anish. I guess instructions are not really working out as expected. andre -- Andre Klapper | ak...@gmx.net http://blogs.gnome.org/aklapper/ ___ foundation-list mailing list foundation-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/foundation-list

First of all I'm happy to have been accepted, thank you! I suppose it is time to introduce myself. Previously I have been contributing here and there but I'm mainly known for my efforts on the GNOME 3.12 release video. You can definitely expect more of those in the future. I try to keep status of what I'm doing on this page: https://wiki.gnome.org/BastianIls%C3%B8 I also try to document my thoughts through this blog: http://blogs.gnome.org/bastian/ This is if you want to put a face on me (credits to Jakub Steiner for the picture): https://flic.kr/p/mU5VCq Outside GNOME I study Medialogy in Denmark where we do all sort of fun stuff like interaction design, programming, graphics, electronics and a/v production. Somehow. > Does that mean we cross fingers that people find out how to set > "Reply-To" in their mail clients? Understanding what the 'Reply-to' field is for is not required in this case, anyone who is willing to ask a question should just create a new email making sure the 'To' field is populated with foundation-list@gnome.orgaccordingly. In the case a question is meant against a specific candidacy just removing the current 'To' field from foundation-annou...@gnome.org to foundation-list@gnome.org should be enough. I'll make sure to add the 'Reply-to' header myself next time, it slipped out of my head when I sent the announcement out. > Looking at candidacy announcements so far, I see: > foundation-announce: Tobi, Oliver, Jeff, Karen, Andrea. > foundation-list: Tobi, Oliver, Jeff, Karen, Emily, Sriram, Anish. Although instructions are clear about where candidacies should be sent to (that is foundation-announce@g.o + CC on elections@g.o, the latter (as per my follow-up at [1]) is not really needed but won't create any harm. (for the next elections we will just require candidacies to be sent to foundation-annou...@gnome.org with eventual follow-ups and questions to be sent to foundation-list@gnome.org) That said the GNOME Foundation Elections and Membership Committee will make sure to "parse" the proposed candidacies on both lists, we do suggest Emily and Sriram to send a copy of their candidacy to foundation-announce as well as a future reference.
