[Evolution] Force openning attachemnts in specific application
Hello, it's my first time I'm writing on mailing list, so i hope i'm doing it right and not breaking any conventions. I'm trying to remove unwanted applications from a list of available applications in "Open with" attachment menu. Obviously, removing all of *.desktop files in not an option. I wasn't able to find any solution online or nothing interesting in dot files. Maybe, someone was struggling with a similar problem. I'll be grateful for any advice.___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list

Do you think some of them are there in error? Or you just want to make the list shorter? I do not think you can make the list shorter other than by removing corresponding .desktop files (which would hide the application from everywhere), or by modifying the .desktop file and limit what content types/MIME types it can handle (which is: a) wrong; b) an application update will restore the intended values by the application developers). Somehow, the message summary doesn't correspond to the message body, thus maybe I misunderstood your query. AFAIK this isn't an Evolution issue. It depends on the desktop environment (presumably Gnome), so it would be better to ask on a Gnome forum. poc ___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list

I'll quote from the Evolution 3.36 user help (it's not in 3.34): The options available for an attachment vary depending on the type of attachment and the applications that are installed on your system. Your desktop environment's MIME database defines which applications can be used to open a specific file format. To see the list of registered applications for a MIME type, use gio mime Example: gio mime "application/pdf" Cheers, andre -- Andre Klapper | ak...@gmx.net https://blogs.gnome.org/aklapper/ ___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list

The "Open with" list comes up with whatever files are in some directory where I was working in another window, things like C source code files, nothing connected with any *.desktop file. (I have evol. 3.28.5, didn't report this because it is sporadic.) To original poster: are you seeing actual apps on your "Open with", or files that are not even executable? Hi, that's weird. Evolution relies on glib's GIO API to get the list of available applications. Unless there's a bug in the Evolution code, I'd expect to see the list consistent. [Evolution] Problem with calendar
Evolution 2.23.6. My main calendar, jeff.nee...@gmail.com, won't sync. This is really important. It has my medical appointments, etc. Any thoughts?
