[Evolution] Unable to print from Evolution

2020-02-16 Thread Paul
3.34.3 (by Flathub.org) Mint Cinnamon 19.3

When I try to print an email I get the following options
Print to file
Print to LPR
My printer is not shown which is an HP OfficejetPro 8600
In Firefox and other apps my printer is shown and works fine except for
scanning
Any ideas?
I'm a new Linux user

Thanks

Yes: Don't use Flatpak if you don't want a sandboxed application. :)

Flatpak versions run in a sandbox that's isolated from the rest of the
system. You need to install the supported Evolution package from your
distro's software manager.

I am not aware of such functionality in any e-mail client.

There are certainly ways to 'rig' such a function [strip and process
attachments] but not within a traditional e-mail client.

Re: [Evolution] Unable to print from Evolution

2020-02-16 Thread Paul
Thank you for your reply, I chose flatpack as I had read it would be
the most up to-date version.
Am I right in thinking that I just uninstall Evo from the Flatpack
section of the software manager and then head into the supported
section and install and lose the accounts that are setup?
Or can I install the supported version whilst leaving the Flatpack one
intact? I'm guessing this option may cause a lot of issues.

Thanks

[Please don't top-post in replies]

I've never used the flatpak version of Evolution. However I'd guess
it's highly likely that account and configuration information would be
preserved, as this is stored in your home directory and not as part of
the Evolution installation itself.

If you send a PDF file to the system print command ('lpr') it will
process it correctly. Printing a file from Evolution should be no
different.
