[Evolution] Trouble with Gmail
Hi, I've just installed Evolution and set Gmail up. When Evo starts up, the inbox is refreshed as it should be. But when the program is open, the inbox is not being refreshed. Moreover, after clicking Send & Receive, the operation fails with Error while Pinging IMAP server imap.googlemail.com. Error performing NOOP: I/O operation timed out How can I fix it? -- Marcin ___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list

You don't give enough information, such your Evo version (Help->About) and whether you followed Google's recommendations for IMAP (see https://support.google.com/mail/troubleshooter/1668960?hl=en#ts=1665018,1665144) Also, have you set Receiving Options (under Edit->Preferences->) to check mail periodically? poc ___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list

Re: [Evolution] Trouble with Gmail
I'm using Evo 3.10.4-0ubuntu2 The settings are the same as recommended by Google. I set the period to 5 minutes. Besides, which of the two should I use to get a live update of the e-mail: quick resync or listen for server change notifications? -- Marcin 2015-05-07 17:27 GMT+02:00 Patrick O'Callaghan : > On Thu, 2015-05-07 at 14:30 +0200, Marcin M. wrote: > > Hi, > > > > I've just installed Evolution and set Gmail up. I use both, but they are optional. That shouldn't affect the functionality. That said, Google is known for throttling clients that put too much load on their servers, so I keep my refresh interval to 20 minutes. I also limit the number of simultaneous connections to 2 and don't check for new messages automatically. All this is just guesswork but it seems to make the system a bit more responsive. I note that the error message you're getting mentions imap.googlemail.com. Pinging that server from the Shell gets no response. The server I use is imap.gmail.com, and it does respond to pings from the Shell. Maybe that's why you get the error. poc ___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list
