The backup file created within Evo tars up all the requisite files plus information on the configuration - then the restore process just untars the file and leaves Evo to upgrade what's necessary when it restarts. The file structure where Evo keeps all the data and account info changes over time to take account of efficiency and improvements. When a new version of Evo runs and it detects an old style file structure, the first thing it does is to upgrade all the files and directories to the new format(s). It is that upgrade process I'm talking about, not the upgrade of the Evolution application. If you do a large jump in versions, the upgrade process must go through multiple procedures to get the data files to the most recent formats. Some of those conversions are more monumental than others. I occasionally get this too. I use Evolution with IMAP on various devices (Desktop,Laptop). I like having all my sent messages "stored" via IMAP... so regardless of device, I can see what I have sent. The problem seems to happen when there is a poor network connection - so Evolution instead stores the outbound message locally. Coincidently, my outbound Submission is on the same server that hosts IMAP... (possible workaround?) It would be cool if when this happens, the message could be later synchronised into my INBOX/Sent folder when comms are better. [Evolution] Some HTML messages cause evolution to take all resources
RE: Evolution 3.10.4 running under Ubuntu 14.04 on DELL Vostro 3500 with 8 GM RAM Increasingly, evolution is taking over my PC when it encounters messages written in HTML These are business-related messages that cannot be ignored. This morning, I have had message take all available RAM and all of a 6.6 GB swap file. This causes PC to lock up or become useless for minutes at a time while evolution does its thing. These are not "new" types of messages, but one similar to those I was receiving a few weeks ago. I hope someone can explain what is happening. Why not just have it as a local Maildir account rather than getting
Courier involved in it?
Anyway, presumably the setup of having all the mail folders appearing to
hang off INBOX is a Courier config thing and is just presentational
rather than reflecting the structure of the folders on the disk.

Can you see from the logs if the error is generated by Evo or is it
passed back to Evo by Courier? It strikes me that some thread may be
having problems writing - the problem is finding what: is it Courier
writing to the disk or Evo writing to IMAP.

I'm using POP, but I never upgraded by such huge steps as 2.28.3 to 3.10.4. I can't find any logs for courier or the imap daemon anywhere. The issue
is still intermittent. Of 5 test posts to myself 2 saved to the right
sent folder the other 3 showed the error. Stopping the imap daemon of
course kills the connection.
