You can choose to browse the LDAP address book in Preferences of the book, on the second tab, since 2.24. The other issue, new category not shown in the rule editor even after restart, there is quite old bug for that here: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=332629 I thought the sync of the 'Show' menu is already done, as is supposed to be by changes in bug http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=316390 which is included in 2.24. But I do not know what's your version yet. If it doesn't work for you in 2.24, please refer to the above bug. Thanks. With respect to custom expression, I'm not sure at the moment, probably something like (contains "category_list" "MYCATEGORY") you can use also 'is' instead of 'contains'. There is also a 'not' with syntax (not EXP) where EXP is the same as above (with brackets). Milan, I have Evolution 2.22.3.1 if a version update is available where can I find it for linux and Windows clients. Maybe that will fix the ldap browse and advanced search rule editor issue (new category not showing in list). Also, is there a guide for writing expressions for Evo advanced searches? [Evolution] I am unable to Expunge my inbox.
Hello, I am new to the list but I am having problems expunging my Inbox. Evolution 2.24.1 (Fedora 10) The expunge reaches 55% and then dies with a message: "Mail file and summary are out of sync even after a sync." (From memory; Actual message might be slightly different.) My Inbox file is 487M. I have tried removing the summary file and letting evolution re-create it. But evolution has not been able to create a complete summary file. Any ideas on how to work around this problem? [Evolution] cvs import/export
Hi all, I'm new to that mailing list so please don't blame me if I do not follow any written or unwritten rules here, but point them to me in you reply. I want to point your attention to a fact which I think is a bug in evolution: I use version 2.22.3.1 in ubuntu 08.04 with locale utf-8 setting. If I export my addressbook with the cmd-line tool evolution-addressbook-export to csv and try to re-import it with the gui-tool in evolution all German Umlaute (äüöß) where messed up. The second point where I would like to help to improve the situation is the export and import of csv-files in evolution. I would like to export all available informations in the evolution contact databases. So I would like to have more columns for im- and export. Are there any activities from somebody at this point, or has a newer version some improvements at this point? I hope you do not get the impression I want to be impolite. I would like to help and search for some people working on that topic or whom I can sent the patches, if I have to do it on my own. Hope to get some answers. Re: [Evolution] I am unable to Expunge my inbox.
Hello Patrick, The Inbox file is local. My /tmp directory is on my root partition. I have 20 GB free on root. FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/md1 29G 8.1G 20G 30% / .. so things should be good there. I had some problems upgrading from Evolution 2.22 -> 2.24 (FC9 -> FC10). Every time Evolution tried to build the sqlite summary file it died trying to allocate 8GB of memory! So maybe my Inbox file has grown too large? Is a 487MB mail file too large for Evolution? To work around the conversion problem I followed some advice I found on the Ubuntu forums. The Ubuntu post advised that to avoid the mandatory conversion of the summary files, I should mislead Evolution to believe that 2.24 was already active on my account by changing some gnome registry keys. I did this and was able to start Evolution, it can read my mail file, etc. However I can't expunge my Inbox file. I was hoping someone on the list had discovered a work around for a similar problem. That sounds like it could be the culprit. Fooling Evo into not reindexing on conversion sounds like a really bad idea, given that the index system has completely changed with 2.24. In your place I would try to back out those changes and start again. At least revert the registry stuff (with gnome-conf turned off of course). Re: [Evolution] I am unable to Expunge my inbox.
Believe me, I tried to make the conversion process work. I tried it three times. Each time the conversion failed saying it failed to allocate 8 GB of memory. My lowly 4 GB laptop was not adequate for this conversion process. Of course I was able to bring Evolution to a workable state by passing the conversion process. By the way I need Evolution to do my day to day work. So not having Evolution available for a long period of time is NOT an option. I am open to suggestions on how to make my Inbox successfully convert its summary to the new sqlite format. Any ideas? Anyone? Any ideas? Anyone? Failing the above, perhaps splitting the Inbox into manageable subfolders would help. Could be tricky though, given the problem with expunging. You might need to copy the whole thing to a set of folders, then manually delete the Inbox file from the filesystem (after shutting down Evo of course) and hope Evo will recreate it when it starts up. Ugly. In any case, this looks to me like a bug. It's not reasonable for Evo to fail to index (or expunge) on a 4GB machine.
