[Evolution] pasting multiple emails into evolution contact list

2006-06-22 Thread coverup c
Hi there,

I need to set up a contact list using a list of emails
in plain text. Is there a way to import it to the
evolution contact list editor, instead of cutting and
pasting email addresses one by one?

Thanks

There is no such version of Evolution, the latest from the 2.4 cycle
is 2.4.2.1.

Could anyone explain why it's virtually impossible to install Evolution-2.6

Hi,
Maybe you made Evolution go offline.
Please check the menu under File, and make sure you are running

because your distro is ancient and gnome development also means "new
dependencies" on many other have-to-be-updated libraries on your system?

well, *i* would expect your distributor to provide updated packages for

blame your distributor that he should provide packages. thanks.

my two cents.

make sure that you have installed gnome-icon-theme and
hicolor-icon-theme. also make sure that gnome-settings-daemon is
running.

So far as I can tell, RHEL 4 is a recent release and should support
Evolution 2.6. But hey, I'm a Gentoo guy - what would I know about it?

As for the icons missing, I have found that there is something I needed
called the hicolor-icon-theme. But I have no idea where you find that
sort of thing for RHEL.

Anyhow, here is the dependency list for Evolution. These are Gentoo
dependencies, but they should give you a good idea of what is required.
My money is on your Gnome Version being too low.

As for blaming Evolution - all I can tell you is that it is flawless on
my system so it may be a Distro issue.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the question, I think that the SEARCH
FOLDERS will work for you.

I created a new search folder called "test folder" that shows all emails
in two of my IMAP inboxes. It gives me a virtual folder in every sense
of the phrase. If that's what you're after, then here's how I did it.

Edit the properties of the new Search Folder (test folder)...

Settings:
Search name: test folder
include threads: all related
Find items: If all criteria are met

Search Criteria:
Add a single search criteria and set it to "MATCH ALL"

Search Folder Sources:
choose "specific folders only"
Added two of my inbox folders (both from imap sources)

Please note that on FC5 evolution has a dependency on dbus and hal, with
the apparent reason to make evolution go offline when all network
adapters are down, as signalled by NetworkManager...

RHEL4 is a bit over a year old (ignore the subsequent updates - they are
fixes only, not upgrades), and is based on the same timeframe as Fedora
3 (so basically stuff fully released at least 18 months ago).

Its therefore Gnome 2.8, not 2.14

RHEL5 may well have Evolution 2.6.

Backporting bleeding edge to stable series is frankly a world of pain
and just a god way of getting the fun and instability of something like
Fedora, with the pain of doing your own backports, and the costs of an
Enterprise system (which won't be supported due to the mass of packages
you have replaced).

Nigel.

Yep, I think you hit the nail on the head Nigel. If you want the
newest-biggest-fastest, then you should use a distro that works that
way. If you want support and stability and ease-of-use, then RHEL might
be the way to go - just use what it comes with and wait for the
"official" version of Evolution to become available.

[Evolution] Exchange: Now support for Outlook Tasks in evolution-brutus

2006-06-22 Thread Jules Colding
Hi,

evolution-brutus 1.1.1 is now available. evolution-brutus supports all
Exchange servers from version 5.5 onwards.

This new release adds read-only Tasks support to evolution-brutus. Write
support for calendar and tasks objects has been put out a few days as it
was convenient to implement Tasks right away.

Currently supported meta-features:

   1) Exchange mail account - Feature complete (unless someone asks
  for more...)

   2) Exchange Calendar - Read-only

   3) Exchange Tasks - Read-only

You do not have to do anything to enable the Exchange Tasks account, all
is done automatically for you. There is one exception to this - The
Evolution components does not start up in the same order each time. So
the task component might already be up and running by the time that the
Exchange Tasks account is configured/created, thus missing the new
Exchange Tasks account. The way to fix this is:

1) Start Evolution and view your Exchange (Brutus) mailbox.

2) Open the calendar and see if you can spot the Brutus delivered
Exchange Tasks account. If not just re-start Evolution and all should be
fine when it comes up again.

The automatic creation of the Exchange Tasks account can be disabled in
the mail account configuration.

You will be prompted by gnome-keyring to allow evolution-data-server to
access your Exchange password. Accept this. The password dialog might be
hidden behind the Evolution window. Please check for this situation if
you are not asked for a password by evolution-brutus.

evolution-brutus 1.1.1 is requiring a Brutus 0.9.26 server somewhere on
the net but will otherwise connect to Exchange using MAPI as would
Outlook.
