[Evolution] Evolution Pauses
Evo 2.0.1 on box-stock SuSE 9.2, configured to get mail from an IMAP server (no local copies of mail on the server). Periodically, Evo will appear to be "hung" in that it will be totally unresponsive to any keyboard/mouse input, although the system as a whole is fine. After some time, Evo comes back and all is well. I noticed that when Evo is "hung", it displays a notice at the bottom that it is trying to ping the IMAP server. When that notice goes away, Evo works fine. Questions: Why does Evo need to ping the IMAP server, and can I configure it not to do so? The firewall in front of the IMAP server blocks pings, so Evo isn't getting what it wants but seems none the worse for it (aside from the "hang" while it is waiting for the ping response that never comes). [Evolution] Hot sync
I am using a Kyocera 7135 Palm Pilot phone with my Mandriva 2006 workstation (Evolution 2.4.1 with KDE 3.4 working with my Exchange 2003 mailbox). I have configured the Pilot settings and can see where /home/user/MyPilot has all of the handheld files backed up. The computer recognizes the device and it connects and syncs during a Hot Sync operation. The problem is that the calendar and contacts list never update. I used to use this device on my windows computer before switching to linux so I have a week or so old calendar and contacts list. I have tried both synchronize and copy to palm as options and nothing works. Has anyone seen this before? I would appreciate any assistance you could offer. [Evolution] Evolution hangs when receiving invitation
I just got Evo 2.4.1 working with the exchange connector. Now, when I receive an invitation to a meeting, Evolution hangs. This behavior is reproducible, and the only way to recover from the problem is to use Outlook Web Access to delete the message. I'm running KDE 5.10 on Kubuntu. A stack trace follows. Let me know how to help diagnose the problem. Re: [Evolution] Exchange calendar and exchange contacts
Sushma Thanks for your response. Yes, I mean the contacts and calendar items stored locally on my computer. Regarding my questions about calendars, after playing around a bit more with Evolution and Outlook, I decided I will just have one calendar (namely, the calendar stored on the exchange server) and one contact list (again, stored on the exchange server). That way no synchronization issues will occur. I will transfer the contacts by one of the methods you suggested. The "Pinging IMAP server " message you get in Evolution is actually not a PING (RFC 2925). but a NOOP request to the server, just to keep the connection alive. There was an issue in 2.0.x versions of Evolution where it used to lock up when sending a NOOP to the server, This has been fixed in the later releases. Upgrading should solve this issue. Re: [Evolution] can I import kmail date into evolution?

In which case, you can File->Import each of those files into Evo. If not (and even if does, but you want to use the "approved method"), kmail might have a way to convert folders to mbox format. -- - Ron Johnson, Jr. Jefferson, LA USA Remember when environmental doom-and-gloomers said that it would take 10 years to put out the 750 post-GW1 oil fires?
