I have a slightly different link, which works too:

javascript:location.href='remember://'+location.href+'::remember::'+escape(document.title)+'::remember::'+escape(window.getSelection())

On the subject of org-annotation-helper, the code has this comment about

While I was trying to make this work, using a slightly earlier version,
I found that the %a would work if I had an active region selected at the
time. Before I could find out how to make a region active, or stop it
being needed, I found the new version of the code, and now I use
%:region. But it would be interesting to know why org-mode tests for
there being an active region; it seems to do it quite a lot. You need an
active region to convert a table with C-c |, for instance. Carsten, is
there any reason why it works this way?

If I use C-space to place the mark at the beginning of the table, and
move point to the end, then the region covers the table, and I would
expect C-c | to operate on the region. Instead, it ignores the region
and asks what size table to make. If I highlight a region using the
mouse, then it works.

[Orgmode] org-export-sweave

2008-09-01 Thread Austin Frank
Hello!

Sweave is a preprocessing step that can be applied to LaTeX files that
contain code written in the S or R programming languages. Sweave allows
authors to embed their statistical analyses in body of their LaTeX
articles, enabling what I find to be a very nice style of literate
programming. It seems to me like org currently has all of the
functionality needed to be a top-notch Sweave authoring environment, but
I can't get the pieces to work correctly together. So this is both a
feature request and a request for implementation advice.

I'm hoping that it will be possible to add an option for exporting
Sweave blocks from org mode. A Sweave block in LaTeX looks like

  % NB: options are comma separated, spaces are optional
  \begin{Scode}{opt1=foo, opt2=bar,opt3=baz}
  a <- 3
  a
  \end{Scode}

Right now I can easily get this exported using

  #+LATEX: \begin{Scode}{opt1=foo, opt2=bar,opt3=baz}
  a <- 3
  a
  #+LATEX: \end{Scode}

But I would also like to be able to use the native editing mode for
writing the code, as happens in #+BEGIN_SRC blocks. I can't currently
get a combination of #+BEGIN_SRC and #+LATEX blocks to work.

Would it be possible to have something like

  #+BEGIN_SWEAVE: language opt1=foo, opt2=bar, opt3=baz
  a <- 3
  a
  #+END_SWEAVE

where the code inside the SWEAVE block is edited in the appropriate
major mode for the language argument? An actual use, then, would look
like

  #+BEGIN_SWEAVE:  r fig=TRUE, echo=FALSE,keep.source=TRUE
  x <- runif(100, 0, 100)
  y <- runif(100, 0, 100)
  plot(x ~ y)
  #+END_SWEAVE

C-c ' inside the block would call out to r-mode from the package ESS.
LaTeX export would result in

  \begin{Scode}{fig=TRUE, echo=FALSE,keep.source=TRUE}
  x <- runif(100, 0, 100)
  y <- runif(100, 0, 100)
  plot(x ~ y)
  \end{Scode}

The file output by export to LaTeX should have the extension .Rtex. The
author can then run Sweave on the file to generate a .tex file, and then
the normal LaTeX compilation process continues.

I've started trying to put this together myself, but haven't gotten very
far. Some of the existing behavior for exporting source code relies on
prefixing the code inside the block with a ':' at the beginning of the
line, which then results in a verbatim environment in LaTeX. I can't
figure out how to override this selectively for Sweave blocks, while
retaining the major-mode switching with C-c '.

Thanks for any implementations tips or (even better!) working
implementations ;)

/au

[Orgmode] Automatic scanning of folder structure and generating links

2008-09-01 Thread Antano Solar John
Hi,
I am curious if it is possible to have org scan a directory and reflect
its structure as links within a org file.
For example:
If I have a directory like
Documents/References
Documents/Material
Documents/Material/Course Details
Documents/Material/Projects

I would like to add a hook to org mode that will call some function that
will modify a section I have marked within the org file to scan
Documents to look like the following
* [[file:~/Documents/References/][References]]
* [[file:~/Documents/Material/][Material]]
** [[file:~/Documents/Material/Course Details][Material]]
** [[file:~/Documents/Material/Projects][Material]]

I know I can use dired mode. But I have a feeling this in org mode will
make it more accessible.

Thanks in advance

Following Carstens post about using

(org-remember nil ?w)

to get the weblink template up with no prompting, and then using refile,
org-mode has taken on an entirely new position in my daily life - even
higher and more important!

my current template is:

  ("Weblink" ?w "* %^{Title|%:description} %^g\n
  :PROPERTIES: \n  :Entered: %U\n  :END: \n  - title:
  %:title\n  - link: %:link\n  - Quote:\n%:region\n  -
  End Quote\n\n  %?\n" "weblinks.org" "WebLinks" )

since I wanted to see the physical http link in order to launch firefox
using a hot key I have (return default for me is w3m).

I have no idea what the best method would be for cycling through

being re-generated upon export to latex/html), however I don't know of
any commands for cycling through tables. I've been thinking of
defining a [[plot:]] type link which may make this easier. Also, I
may be able to copy an answer from the exporting code. If anyone has
any ideas I'd love to hear them.

To call a function at each table, you can use org-table-map-tables,
defined in org.el.
