Re: [Orgmode] Underlines and strike-through lines in column view
Fixed, thanks. - Carsten On Apr 30, 2008, at 11:25 PM, Wanrong Lin wrote: Hi, Carsten, I just tried org-mode version 6.02b, which seems to have the fix included. Glad those "line noises" disappeared. However, there seems to be some new (compared with 6.02) problems now: 1. Before the fix (6.02), faces of headings in org files are preserved in the column view. In 6.02b, text in column view is all in the same face. Can we restore the 6.02 behavior? 2. Customization for org-column face does not work right. Even though I only customized the "background" property of org-column face and hence expect the font stays the same as my default font (a bold font), but the font changes to regular (no bold text). Funny thing is, the sample text showed in the face customization window is in the correct font, but the actual font in the org file (column view) is not. Also even after I forced the "Weight" to be "bold", that still did not work. My org-column face is as following: Family: unspecified Width: unspecified Height: unspecified Weight: unspecified Slant: unspecified Foreground: unspecified Background: gray80 Underline: unspecified Overline: unspecified Strike-through: unspecified Box: unspecified Inverse: unspecified Stipple: unspecified Font or fontset: nil Inherit: unspecified Thanks a lot if you can take a look of it. I have seen this for quite sometime, maybe since I began to use the column view 3 or 4 months ago. Are there any special meanings for those lines or they are just noise? I am now using Emacs 22.2 (on windows) and org-6.02. Thank you. This happens because each column is an overlay over a one character in the line below, and it seems that the properties of the underlying faces are still coming through. Column one has the properties of character one in the line, column two that of character two, etc. Fixed now, I think. Why in the world would you be using a strike-through face? There is nothing more ugly in the world of typography than strike-through faces, and web sites that use it immediately get onto the black list of my parental control program :-) - Carsten ___ Emacs-orgmode mailing list Remember: use `Reply All' to send replies to the list. [Orgmode] Re: Info about Emacs on EEE PC

Did you encounters some difficulties ? How > did you resolve them ? Overall, I don't have any real issues with the eee pc and Emacs. I have quite large hands though I don't have 'fat fingers', so I don't have any real problems with the small keyboard. Emacs with it's keychords is perfectly usable with few problems with the Ctrl and Alt (Meta) keys. My main problem with the eee pc is that the pipe '|' character is hard to type with it requiring you to press both shift and a function key to type it. This is only really an issue in the command shell though. And I suspect it'd be very easy to rebind this character to another key, though I haven't yet got around to it. Xandaros is an acceptable distro on the eeepc, as everything works, and I've not yet installed a more capable distro such as eeebuntu though I am considering doing this, as the eeepc isn't really suited to installing lots of new software. This said it is possible to install new software by editing some config files and pointing xandros at the debian repositories. This works, but can be dangerous. Installing Emacs in this way works fine though. There's more info on this at http://www.eeeuser.com/ I find the eeepc with org-mode to be a great combination for note taking. > I planned to buy an eee pc, but perhaps could wait until the eee 900 > arrival. I've not really looked at the eee 900, but as far as I know it uses the same keyboard and form factor, just with a bigger screen and more storage. The eeepc could certainly use a bigger screen, but it's perfectly adequate for web browsing and Emacs. Though in my opinion the eeepc isn't really suited as a real software development environment. The eee 900 might be worth the extra money for the bigger screen. > I'm sure that this kind of feedbacks will interest a lot of Emacs user and > potentially eee user. Yes it might, I've forwarded this to the org-mode mailing list in case others might be interested. -- Rick Moynihan [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://sourcesmouth.co.uk/blog/ ___ Emacs-orgmode mailing list Remember: use `Reply All' to send replies to the list. [Orgmode] freemind.el can't to convert from FreeMind.mm to OrgMode.org?
Hello! I'm using GNU Emacs 22.1.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.8.20) on Debian Etch. I can't to convert a freemind.mm to orgmode.org with M-x freemind-to-org-mode I get a message in minibuffer: 'Wrong type argument: stringp, nil' Are there a way how to solve this problem? Any advices will be appreciated! -- Regards, Paul Csanyi http://www.freewebs.com/csanyi-pal/index.htm ___ Emacs-orgmode mailing list Remember: use `Reply All' to send replies to the list. I have installed kubuntu which works very well once you have tweaked it. I found that I managed break Xandros too easily by installing stuff from Debian. You can have the best of both worlds since you can boot from an SD card, thus being able to keep the default Xandros and have an alternative OS easily accessible. I think the 900 will probably be be even better. The resolution on the eee is a bit cramped for reading many web pages, Ian, ___ Emacs-orgmode mailing list Remember: use `Reply All' to send replies to the list.
