Just tried this in my VM and it is opening very quickly. I don't see anything in the attached syslog that would indicate this is an issue with the indicator. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1646517] Re: In unity8-session snap on Core 16, no battery icon is shown
I think we need to do a bit more here to really make this right. The reason the indicator isn't showing in the top panel normally in this case, is because your VM doesn't have a battery. So not showing a battery icon on a system without a battery, is totally expected. However, it is still being run, and due to the indicators drop-down panel design of Unity 8, normally accessible, despite it not being particularly useful for certain systems. Even more fun is that the "Battery" panel in System Settings is already being hidden, but clicking on "Battery settings..." in the indicator will open it anyway. We need some way to hide certain indicators from the drop-down as well as from the panel. ** Also affects: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-power in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1646517 Title: In unity8-session snap on Core 16, no battery icon is shown Status in Canonical System Image: New Status in indicator-power package in Ubuntu: New Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I was testing the unity8-session in a Core 16 VM, and I noticed that indicator-power wasn't showing an icon in the top panel. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1482551] Re: "External" app setting -> System Settings -> Back doesn't return to "External" app
OK. I'm going to remove the indicators from this as it really doesn't make sense there. When you open a settings panel or app from the indicators, the indicator itself is closed. It would be very weird if when that app was closed, the indicator automatically opened back up again. An appropriate action in system-settings though when a panel is opened via the URL directly, rather than from within the app itself, is to just exit when the user presses the back button, assuming the system-settings app was not already running (which complicates things). ** No longer affects: ubuntu-system-settings ** No longer affects: indicator-sound (Ubuntu) ** No longer affects: indicator-messages (Ubuntu) ** No longer affects: indicator-network (Ubuntu) ** No longer affects: indicator-power (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-power in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1482551 Title: "External" app setting -> System Settings -> Back doesn't return to "External" app Status in Ubuntu Clock App: New Status in Ubuntu UX: Triaged Status in dialer-app package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in ubuntu-system-settings package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: From settings in telephony suite, when tap return button, it goes back to system settings instead of phone/one of the telephony suite Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Ubuntu Clock Application 2. Click Gear button on top right corner 3. Click "Change time and date" 4. "Time & Date" System settings is revealed Current 4. On top left corner, the "Back" button is displayed. Pressing it return to General System settings. Expected: 4. On top left corner, the "Close" button is displayed. Pressing it close system-settings application and return to Ubuntu-Clock-Application. Proposal: When the ubuntu-system-settings application is executed from external application, then instead of "Back" button, System-settings should display "Close" button.
