This bug was fixed in the package appmenu-qt5 -

---
appmenu-qt5 (0.3.0+17.04.20161124.2-0ubuntu1) zesty; urgency=medium

  * AppMenuPlatformSystemTrayIcon: reset app usertime on activation to
ensure compiz will raise it (LP: #627195)
  * AppMenuPlatformMenuBar: Don't initialize X11 related functions in
other environments (LP: #1606246)
  * IconCache: get the proper theme path based on the fact we're using a

Snaps that use the app indicator area via Qt can't display their icon

  Steps to reproduce and screenshot:
  https://github.com/nuttyartist/notes/pull/77

  Some research:

  - Uses http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qsystemtrayicon.html
  - The indicator icon is created under /tmp under a randomly generated
directory name

  didrocks mentions also:

  1. The application says "this is my menu, and here is my icon at that
address", the address being /tmp/blablabla
  2. appindicator receives the bus messages
  3. and says "let's have a look at this icon at that address"
  4. BUT! /tmp in the snap is different form system /tmp

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1639233] Re: date&time setting takes much time to open from indicator-datetime

2016-12-05 Thread Rodney Dawes
Just tried this in my VM and it is opening very quickly. I don't see
anything in the attached syslog that would indicate this is an issue
with the indicator. The logs that would be helpful should be under
~/.cache/upstart/ here. There should be a log for the system-settings
app itself, and any logging from the indicator should I think be in its
own log as well, or maybe in unity8-dash.log there.

  Dear all,

Would it be possible for the indicator-datetime and its "Add Event..."

California provides some added functionality over the default Calendar

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1646517] Re: In unity8-session snap on Core 16, no battery icon is shown

2016-12-05 Thread Rodney Dawes
I think we need to do a bit more here to really make this right. The
reason the indicator isn't showing in the top panel normally in this
case, is because your VM doesn't have a battery. So not showing a
battery icon on a system without a battery, is totally expected.

However, it is still being run, and due to the indicators drop-down
panel design of Unity 8, normally accessible, despite it not being
particularly useful for certain systems.

Even more fun is that the "Battery" panel in System Settings is already
being hidden, but clicking on "Battery settings..." in the indicator
will open it anyway.

We need some way to hide certain indicators from the drop-down as well
as from the panel.

Bug description:
I was testing the unity8-session in a Core 16 VM, and I noticed that
indicator-power wasn't showing an icon in the top panel.

When I opened the indicator menu, indicator-power seemed to be filling
out its menu correctly, so it is running. It just didn't give an icon
that u8 knew about (or we aren't bundling the right icons into the
snap?). But I bet that the indicator is giving back an absolute path
  that points outside the snap.

Bug description:
On my BQ E5 running OTA 11 I do realize for some time now sudden akku
drainages, see attached screenshots.
At least on one occassion lately I did find out that this happened when I was
taking some photos.
For the first couple of photos I did had the normal shutter sound. After a
few photos the shutter went silent and the akku started to loose power.
After Rebooting the phone the drainage usually stops occasionally it happens
again.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1482551] Re: "External" app setting -> System Settings -> Back doesn't return to "External" app

2016-12-05 Thread Rodney Dawes
OK. I'm going to remove the indicators from this as it really doesn't
make sense there. When you open a settings panel or app from the
indicators, the indicator itself is closed. It would be very weird if
when that app was closed, the indicator automatically opened back up
again.

An appropriate action in system-settings though when a panel is opened
via the URL directly, rather than from within the app itself, is to just
exit when the user presses the back button, assuming the system-settings
app was not already running (which complicates things).
