Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users. ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1420889 Title: Desktop fails to load after login (displays tiled backgrounds) Status in unity package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Was originally running 14.04-desktop in a VmWare Fusion v5-Pro guest. Ran fine for quite a while. A certain update a few months ago introduced an issue where I could no longer log in graphically. The guest console would present a normal login after boot, but attempting to log in causes the screen to display a tiled background and a failure to present any UI components. Ssh access remains accessible, so it seems to be purely a graphical desktop problem. Anyway, I have since tried many things, including ensuring I had the latest updates, reinstalling unity, upgrading to 14.10, and upgrading Fusion to v7-Pro. The result is exactly the same. I will attach a screenshot. To be fair, I do not know for sure this is a unity bug. But it is my best guess. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1421559] Re: Should be able to silence alarm using power button
Adding ubuntu-ux to get design opinion. Perhaps we could also add a settings option in the clock app to allow the user to decide if he would like to dismiss/snooze the alarm on pressing the power button. ** Changed in: ubuntu-clock-app Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: ubuntu-clock-app Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: ubuntu-clock-app Milestone: None => ota-2 ** Also affects: ubuntu-ux Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-datetime in Ubuntu. Set alarm 2. Let alarm go off, but do not turn it off immediately—do not touch the phone surface, wait until the screen goes black 3. Try to disable alarm What happens: You need to turn on screen, press "OK" on alarm What should have happened: I should be able to silence the alarm using the power button—like on iOS. Rationale: I set two alarms on weekdays, one at 07:07 and one at 09:07. When I wake up at 07:07 and go to school, the 09:07 alarm goes off during class. Removing the phone from my pocket, swiping, unlocking and dismissing the alarm, always takes about 3-4 rings. Related to bug 1340329. I encountered a problem which I consider to be a flaw in the UX of Unity. I hope this report will be useful to you. After activating Ubuntu One I began to see the "default keyring was not unlocked on login" popup. I can only presume it was caused by Ubuntu One, since the popup in no way indicates exactly which process is requesting access to the keyring. Since Ubuntu One (or whatever app it was) is also incredibly annoying and keeps re-popping it up if I click Cancel, I managed to notice a problem with Unity while the popup was there. The popup dramatically steals focus from the entire system. In the dash I am unable to type, I was barely able to open it - it opens only in the period of time that the popup is not there. Also, Synapse global shortcut doesn't work (Ctrl+Space), and Guake terminal can be opened (F12) but I was unable to type any commands into it. I think no popup should be allowed to be so agressive in grabbing the input from the user. I'm not sure if this belongs under Unity, I apologise if this is the wrong place to report it. Best regards! [Dx-packages] [Bug 1081239] Re: Popup steals focus from dash
[Expired for Unity because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: unity Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1081239 Title: Popup steals focus from dash Status in Unity: Expired Status in unity package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Greetings!
