[Dx-packages] [Bug 1302885] [NEW] Media keyboard shortcuts not working

2014-10-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I can map the Volume Control keys in Keyboard Shortcuts e.g. Volume
up/down to Volume up/down, but when I press the Volume keys on the
keyboard nothing happens.

I have noticed the same problem with other keys on my Logitech Internet 350
keyboard with Tools, Mail, and HomePage.
They can all be mapped with Keyboard Shortcuts, but nothing happens afterwards
when the keyboard key is pressed.

All these keyboard settings worked fine in older versions of Ubuntu.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 970038] Re: Launcher do not want to appear

2014-10-02 Thread Nikita
I can reproduce it 90% of the times using the attached html file in both Chrome
and Firefox (just one pre tag with enough text to show the horizontal
scrollbar).
In my case, scrolling it to the right and all the way back to the left, so that
the mouse pointer is in the panel's area, cause unity panel to fail to reveal.

As I also found out, it doesn't have to be a web browser - text editor
like GEdit will result in the same behavior, when a line is long enough
to reveal the horizontal scrollbar.

I move the pointer lo left, but just the margin of screen gets darker

I have to repeat moving pointer right - left many times (sometimes 4x,

A recent change in the interest of security removed access to the

This was an accentual change based on a misunderstanding

There had been a plan to support media playback control via the sound
indicator. Without this the user must unlock the phone in order to
simply pause the music or change songs, etc.

  Desired resolution:

  - Revert the change that caused this issue

  - Add a switch to System Settings to enable security conscious user to
switch off Launcher and Greeter access while the phone is locked.
This setting should *always* be off by default.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1358340] Re: [Indicators] Complete greeter profiles

2014-10-02 Thread Ted Gould
So we're basically looking at it as three levels:

1) Everything on lock screen. You like that, dont' care.
2) Reduced data, stuff is there, but it shouldn't be a really egregious leak or
control things.
3) No Indicators

Basically the "MessagesWelcomeScreen" toggles between the first two.
Then the no indicators setting will turn on 3 or not. So for those who
are very worried about security they can turn off indicators entirely.
For those who'd like them to be a bit more restricted but still
available we can reduce the data set. And for those who live on a desert
island by themselves they have the full monty option as well.

A recent change in the interest of security removed access to the
indicators when the phone is locked and the greeter is showing.

Bug description:
  [Impact]
When scaling is set to a value different to 1.0 and the user performs a dash
search and right clicks a result, the Preview is always rendered with scale
factor 1.0.

  [Test case]
  1. From Unity Control Center -> Displays -> Change the monitor scaling to
somewhat
different from 1.0 (might be both bigger and smaller, your choice).
  2. Open the dash, [search something], right click over a result
  3. The preview items should respect the previously set monitor scaling

  [Regression potential]
This is a big change that involved lots of changes in the unity dash code,
although we
didn't notice any regression due to this change. At the contrary we improved
a lot the old code we worked on. Although it's still possible that some
component of the dash previews might be hidden/distorted or not shown as it
used to be.

scaling is set to value ranging from 0.5 to 1.38. They stop working for

[Dx-packages] [Bug 987220] Re: [Dell Inspiron 1720] System does not power off reliably when "Shut Down" chosen from GUI

2014-10-02 Thread netikras
Affects Linux Mint Petra as well. I'm on Samsung NF-210.

Issuing 'init 6' seems to kill processes and hung at blank screen. This
actually has started quite a while ago.. >1 year ago. Then I used to
notice this problem when hibernating with 's2disk' or 's2both' after
using computer for a while (never occurred on a fresh boot). It used to
fail to poweroff (although succeeded to dump the image) then too, but I
decided it's simply because there are too many applications open and
there's simply not enough of swap memory to store the image, or
something like that... However a few weeks ago 'init 6' started to fail
as well as simple shutdown...

Dunno if this could be related, but samsung-tools started to fail in re-
enable wifi after waking up the OS from SLEEP (s2ram).

2014-10-02 Thread netikras
umm just forgot to mention.. When it turned into zombie (almost
dead) after attempt to hibernate I had to poweroff it manually with the
button. After powering it on again fresh OS used to boot instead of the
hibernated image (although uswsusp claimed image is saved at 100%). So I
believe it's OS preventing computer from powering-off...

A recent change in the interest of security removed access to the
indicators when the phone is locked and the greeter is showing.

Status in Sound Menu:

Status in “indicator-sound” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
By design the indicator-sound is only storing/restoring the master
  volume, not handing sink-port specifics.

Meanwhile we have pulse also storing/restoring the per sink-port
values once the daemon is started, but it gets reset again once
indicator-sound is started with the system-wide value stored by the
  indicator.

This is a problem with ubuntu touch specifically, because of the following
use case scenario:
  - Set speaker volume to 90 % using the indicator
  - Connect wired headset, set volume to 10%
  - Disconnect wired headset, volume will change to 90% automatically (because
of pulse)
  - Reboot with the wired headset connected

After boot the volume will be 90% instead of 10%.

  : "If you connect or
pair headphones or a headset, or any audio output device except a
secondary display, the primary output should change to that device."

  : "Whenever audio is
playing, both the indicator and the volume slider should show the
volume of the primary sound output. Whenever audio is not playing,
they should show the ringer volume."

This is definitely a unity8 bug. We don't raise the app in the
indicator, and in fact we don't even close the menu. We pass the signal
back, and then it raises itself.

I'm not sure it should reset the balance to center. Shouldn't it recall the last
balance setting and try to preserve that? FWIW, the system settings also
functions a little weirdly -- if you try to click and drag the volume control
around in the system settings, it starts jumping around like it wants to reduce
its volume instead of following your cursor. Scrolling seems to work as expected
in the system settings though.

Bug description:
After closing the toolbox window (by clicking the close button) and
reopening it from the menu "window" -> "new toolbox", the toolbox
reappears, but I cannot see the window handlers (close button, drag
handle). I've attached a screen shot to show what goes wrong.

The toolbox opens as a very high 1 column toolbox, therefore it takes
up all the vertical space and the window handler is hidden at the top
  end of the screen.
