[Dx-packages] [Bug 1373255] [NEW] Bluetooth indicator is shown twice in the upper panel

2014-09-24 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes

Bluetooth indicator is shown two times in the panel. After disabling
bluetooth in System -> Settings, there is still one indicator being

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1366642] Re: Resume laptop sometimes shows no lock screen, sometimes lock screen with no text input.

2014-09-24 Thread NoBugs!
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1311316 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311316

Fixed a week ago? I don't think so, I'm still seeing the case where
sometimes it comes up with lock screen, sometimes it doesn't have a lock
screen, and just lets you work. So, I don't think this is just a
duplicate of that other bug.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1359249] Re: Launching PAVUControl works from Xubuntu, but not from Xfce

2014-09-24 Thread Monsta
Ok, I've tested it myself in the same "other" Xfce session.

monsta@xubuntu:~$ echo $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP
XFCE
monsta@xubuntu:~$ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION
xfce

So it's clear that the condition in indicator-application source code should be
changed.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1373345] [NEW] Clicking on windows and continuingly pressing menu key on keyboard opens infinite windows and locks all keyboard/mouse clicks

2014-09-24 Thread fma

pressed too many times and many alignment windows opened on top of right

Problem is to be that webbrowser is being re-launched by upstart, but
AppMan wasn't expecting that and so rejects the newly starting app
instance.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1310316] Re: Text scaling factor changing unexpectedly

I believe this is a duplicate of bug #1332947 (which has a fix in
progress). Please check if the Large Text setting is enabled under
Universal Access in the System Settings and confirm if that's the case.

Bug description:
I have a MacBook pro with a Retina display. I have set the "Scale for
menu and title bars" setting (into Settings > Displays) to 1.5 to
make the UI looks good on my screen. That works very well. But
sometimes, usually after logging, all the fonts of the UI become much
  bigger.

When that happen I open unity tweat tool and notice that the text
scaling factor changed to 2.25. If I reset it to 1 the all the fonts
  go back to normal.

The problem does not happen all the time. I would say it happen one
time out of three logging. It may also happen when installing
applications from the software center. I have yet to find a procedure
to reproduce it all the times.

  Text scaling factor changing unexpectedly

Status in Unity:

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1364999] Re: Blocked password prompt in Unity lock screen

2014-09-24 Thread Andri Yngvason
I'm using two screens and I've found that usually this blocks on one
screen first, and if I move the mouse to the other screen, it's not
blocked on that screen. But if I move the mouse between the screens
again it blocks. Both screens will be blocked after I lock the screen
after the "one screen blocked" situation.

I've also figured out that, when I notice this happening on the one
screen, I can log in on the other and, using xkill, kill the top bar
(status bar?) and that will keep this from happening next time.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1241972] Re: Drag and drop from Dash to Desktop doesn't work

2014-09-24 Thread Christian U.
Oh no, messed up my comment. Here's the working version.

Workaround for basic users:

In a terminal, type:

sudo chmod +x /usr/share/applications/*
ln -s /usr/share/applications ~/Applications

Then one can go to his home folder, than "Applications", then drag ones
favourite application icons to the desktop. When done, one can delete
"Applications".

I am using a video recorded on the device and then copied to the SD card
under Videos folder using MTP.

  2) Reboot device. This is needed due to bug 1358750:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-scope-video-
  remote/+bug/1358750

  3) Navigate to Videos scope
  4) Try to play video

  EXPECTED RESULT:
The video thumbnail should be displayed and it should be possible to play the
video.

  ACTUAL RESULT:
The video thumbnail is displayed (although sometimes the default thumbnail is
shown), but when you try to play the video nothing happens at all.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1371590] Re: Global menu bar snatches defeat from the jaws of victory, à la Windows 95 Start button

2014-09-24 Thread Michael Doube
Thanks for looking at this. It's 100% consistent for me, on two very
different devices, so I'm surprised that everyone else is having such
trouble reproducing it.

Perhaps the cursors are the problem, and the pointer is more pointy than
expected, after the upgrade?

I wanted to attach screenshots but I see now the cursor is excluded from
the capture, unlike previous versions. It's literally a one pixel row
difference in position that hides the menu bar items. It almost looks as
though the cursor point itself is extending beyond the top limit of the
monitor (i.e. into negative y values).

Global menu bar snatches defeat from the jaws of victory, à la Windows
  95 Start button

Status in Unity:

Bug description:
There is a really old usability bug relating to mouse accuracy, which
Ubuntu 14.04 has rediscovered in its global menu.

Basically, it's super easy to move your pointer fast and hard to the
extreme edge and corners of the screen, so you can hit targets placed
there quickly. But the global menu only activates if the cursor is a
pixel or two from the top of the screen. This is a massive usability
  bug.

The example from the 90s (yes, 20 years ago) is that Win 95's start
button was offset from the bottom left corner by a couple of pixels.
That made it hard for people to hit, and if they'd only put it flush
with the bottom left it would have been way way easier to click. Hence
"snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" - e.g. in this post from
  2000 http://www.joelonsoftware.com/uibook/chapters/fog63.html

Hopefully this is an easy fix: extend the mouseover activation area
for the global menu to the top of the screen. Right to the top zeroth
  row of pixels. Please?

I suppose this could be seen as a matter of design opinion but, in my
opinion, it's incredibly ugly. To reproduce, launch a whole bunch

near the right edge. Then switch to workspace 1, and observe the
massive black blob on the left of the screen. This really doesn't
make a whole lot of sense visually, and it's pretty ugly, IMO.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1373695] [NEW] Not resizable windows can be moved by dragging them on every edge

2014-09-24 Thread Treviño
Public bug reported:

1. Open a non resizable window such as Calculator or Unity Control Center
2. Move the mouse to the edge of the window, outside the window itself
but in the area that is close at least 10 px.
3. Press the mouse and start to drag

Expected behavior:
4. nothing happens

Actual behavior
5. the hand cursor is shown and window can be dragged around
As side effect, if LIMs are enabled, moving the mouse over a window edge makes
the menus to show.

  1. Open a non resizable window such as Calculator or Unity Control Center
  2. Move the mouse to the edge of the window, outside the window itself
but in the area that is close at least 10 px.
  3. Press the mouse and start to drag

  Expected behavior:
  4. nothing happens

  Actual behavior
  5. the hand cursor is shown and window can be dragged around
As side effect, if LIMs are enabled, moving the mouse over a window edge
makes the menus to show.

Bug description:
From the My Photos scope, clicking on a picture does not correctly
open it in the gallery-app. The problem is that any apps/scopes that

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1310316] Re: Text scaling factor changing unexpectedly

2014-09-24 Thread Alex Armstrong
There may be more than issue here. But the suggestion that the Large
Text option is causeing the issue seems promising for my case. The
option gets flipped on when I change the fonts, e.g. via ubuntu-tweak or
dconf and presumably is at the cause of the exponential increase in font
size.

  Text scaling factor changing unexpectedly

Status in Unity:
  Confirmed
