It is on a phone. I did it from system-settings/Language & Text.

You cannot do that on the phone.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1244558] [NEW] Multiple applications showing controls in the sound indicator

2013-10-25 Thread Jonathan Meek
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. From default Saucy, install Banshee.
2. Run Banshee.
3. Quit Banshee.

What is Expected:
4. Banshee should remain in the sound menu, but as a single line executable
item like in Raring.

What happens:
4. Both Banshee and Rhythmbox (the app set as the default) show sound controls,
creating an unnecessarily longer menu.

Not sure if this is a design choice, but it seems bordering on
frivolous.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1199877] Re: unity-panel-service memory leak and 100% CPU usage

2013-10-25 Thread Steve Pearce
I'm also experiencing this bug. A temporary workaround (similar to the
recommendations above) has been to remove the global app menu support
for certain critical applications but using bash aliases.

For example, in .bashrc I have the following set up for gimp:

alias gimpfix='UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 gimp'

Launching gimpfix from a terminal will then put the menu back on the
gimp window temporarily.

why it was totally pegging out a CPU.

I'm not sure if this adds any context, but I was using a LibreOffice
spreadsheet and I could not insert a table because the menu had lost
it's mind, and then I observed the overly loaded CPU a very short
  while after that.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1227920] Re: after suspend/resume, the Unity HUD is always open when I unlock the screen

2013-10-25 Thread Derwin McGeary
I was affected by this bug (Suspend-Resume-EnterPassword resulted in HUD
displaying). I enabled proposed, upgraded this morning (package version
3.8.5-0ubuntu11.1 amd64 is now installed). Suspend and resume now
results in the desired screen with no HUD. I haven't noticed any
regressions yet. Thanks!

Traveling at a conference, so I'm doing a lot of suspending and

resume and unlock the desktop, the Unity dash is open. This does not
happen if I lock my screen using the "lock screen" hotkey, and does
not happen if my screen is locked by a lid close event; only when the

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1244556] [NEW] Sound Indicator icon doesn't update

2013-10-25 Thread Jonathan Meek
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to Saucy, the icon in the menubar doesn't update based
on the sound level

Repro steps:
1. change sound levels

What is expected:
2. Sound icon should change based on volume level

What happens:
2. Icon remains at same level it was at at log in.

Anecdotally, changing volume and then logging in and out will refresh
the icon. Muting also doesn't update the icon.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1203888] Re: appindicator ignores menu entries after having sent the menu to the indicator

2013-10-25 Thread Alessandro Falappa
This API change/bug seems to affect all indicators that change their
menus after creating and showing them for the first time.

The feedindicator (https://code.google.com/p/feedindicator/) is also
made unusable by this issue.

I think it's a problem in python-appindicator or even in glib.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1244237] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 Unity desktop background smears when dragging windows

2013-10-25 Thread Mark Andrew Wheadon
I booted my PC this morning and I didn't have the problem! Of course I
didn't leave it like that but decided to fiddle with it. So, I went into
CCSM and re-enabled 'Animations' and 'Fading Windows' and the problem
re-emerged. I logged out and in again, but still have the problem.

Title:
Ubuntu 13.04 Unity desktop background smears when dragging windows

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
In the last week I have found that my desktop background is not
refreshed when I drag windows across the screen. This also happens
when windows are minimised or closed. It is especially noticeable when
compiz animations are used as the window shrink/blur remains on areas
of the screen where only the background shows. It has been reported on
AskUbuntu with the title of 'Unity desktop "smears" (doesn't refresh)
and shows no wallpaper' and one contributor says it doesn't happen
with Cinnamon (though their post was deleted as not being an answer,
as was mine). My wallpaper does not show either, even after I changed
  it, and it used to.

My hardware it AMD A10-5700 with 7660D graphics on Ubuntu 13.04 with
latest updates. I am using the fglrx-updates driver.

Others (on AskUbuntu) tried different graphics drivers but it didn't
help. I have not tried with 13.10.

  Screen shot attached.

  Thanks.

Title:
  XResources didn't handle #define well

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I recently copied some Solarized XResources into my ~/.Xresources
file. I tested with usual xrdb -merge while testing until I was happy.
Several days later I rebooted into the April 1 packages and had some
  error messages:

$ urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base0', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base02', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_red', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_green', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_yellow', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_blue', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_magenta', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_cyan', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base2', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base03', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_orange', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base01', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base00', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base0', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_violet', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base1', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base3', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base1', using pink instead.

To reproduce, you can add just the following lines to your ~/.Xresources:

  #define S_base0 #839496
  URxvt*foreground: S_base0

Restart Unity. Start a urxvt and watch the standard error of the
terminal you used to start urxvt. Note the horrible pink.

Run xrdb -merge ~/.Xresources and then start another urxvt. Note no
  errors and no horrible pink.

Somehow, the Unity-started mechanism for reading the Xresources didn't
properly handle the #define statements. Perhaps Unity accidentally
used the -nocpp option to xrdb?

[Dx-packages] [Bug 793450] Re: Calendar applet does not show today's date

2013-10-25 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Just reproduced this on 13.04. I doubt this was ever fixed.

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: gnome-panel
+ Ubuntu 11.04
+ indicator-datetime 0.3.1-0ubuntu1, Ubuntu 11.10
+ indicator-datetime 0.3.94-0ubuntu2, Ubuntu 12.04
+ Ubuntu 12.10
+ indicator-datetime 12.10.3daily13.03.26-0ubuntu1, Ubuntu 13.04
+ Ubuntu 13.10

- The calendar applet (the one visible after clicking the clock) is slow
- to update its date field. Only after hiding it once, and showing it
- again will it update the date.
-
- Steps to reproduce:
  1) Log in
  2) Run a session for a day or two
  3) Open the calendar applet by clicking the clock. Although the date in the
text field is correct, the graphic calendar still shows the date at which you
either originally logged in, or clicked the calendar before.
  4) Hide it, and show it once more. The calendar now shows the correct date.

The conflicting visual data can be very confusing if you only summon the
calendar to find out what day it is. (I don't get much sunlight.)
-
- Using gnome-panel-1:2.32.1-0ubuntu6.5 on Natty.

   Status: Fix Released => Confirmed

** Changed in: indicator-datetime (Ubuntu)

  1) Log in
  2) Run a session for a day or two
  3) Open the calendar applet by clicking the clock. Although the date in the
text field is correct, the graphic calendar still shows the date at which you
either originally logged in, or clicked the calendar before.
  4) Hide it, and show it once more. The calendar now shows the correct date.

The conflicting visual data can be very confusing if you only summon
the calendar to find out what day it is. (I don't get much sunlight.)

The most common port on a public network is just 80 (http port)

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1242307] Re: Doesn't report NTP connection problems

2013-10-25 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Thanks for the report, Audiger. Ubuntu uses the standard NTP
 for its time
checking. As mentioned both there and in
, NTP uses
UDP on port 123. If a public network blocks this port, the public
network is misconfigured.

That isn't the fault of indicator-datetime at all. But System Settings,
and *possibly* indicator-datetime, could display that problem and
currently don't.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1199877] Re: unity-panel-service memory leak and 100% CPU usage

2013-10-25 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
I upgraded to 13.10 in time of Final Beta release and I observed a much
higher use of RAM compared to 13.04. This is very bad to the point that
my SWAP which is 4 GB (6 GB of DDR2 RAM) becomes filled sometimes and is
always used in more than 2 GB after couple hours.

I've noticed that unity-panel-service uses large portions of RAM in one
case it was 1 GB but also I'm observing today unity-sope-home using 390
MB. Also running the command mentioned earlier:

watch -n 0,5 ps -o rss= `pgrep unity-panel`

I see that the value goes up and up and it doesn't stop. Also when
looking at terminal opened with this and using the menus of programs and
indicators the numbers start to rise up like crazy and they don't go
down.

Bug description:
  Steps to Reproduce:
Open Torchlight (may also happen with other games)
In the settings, activate Fullscreen mode
During gameplay, press and hold Alt to show items on the ground
  Release Alt
Quickly tap Alt (do not hold it)

  What should happen:
  Item labels are displayed briefly

  What actually happens:
The desktop is displayed with the HUD for Tochlight open

When playing a game in fullscreen mode, (specifically Torchlight in
this case, installed through the Software Centre), I tapped Alt as
this is a control used by the game (See attached screencast for more
details). However, Unity picked up the keystroke and thought I wanted
to open the HUD, minimizing the game and dropping me to the desktop.

I then had to swich the game to windowed mode and back to fullscreen
  to carry on playing.

This obviously shouldn't happen - if a user is playing a game in
fullscreen, keystrokes that may represent game commands should be
ignored by the desktop shell/window manager.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1163129] Re: XResources didn't handle #define well

2013-10-25 Thread Stephen M. Webb
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1244578 ***

We don't usually open new bugs for the same problem, but in this case
the new bug is properly targeted and the cause is better described.

lightdm-session runs xrdb with -nocpp option

  #define S_base0 #839496

Tapping Alt should not open HUD in fullscreen games

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1244366] Re: no easy way to disable screensaver on 12.04 without installing additional tools

2013-10-25 Thread matteo sisti sette
Even after uninstalling gnome-screensaver, the screen still turns off!!!
(or blanks to black, can't tell).

THIS IS DAMN ANNOYING.

How many layers of screen-saving are necessary? Must they be hidden to
normal users so one has to google around and figure out awkward commands
to write in a terminal until one manages to disable all existing damn
screensavers?

For god's sake!

Title:
no easy way to disable screensaver on 12.04 without installing
  additional tools

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I think this got fixed in some later version, but 12.04 is supposed to
be LTS, right? So unless I misunderstand the meaning of the S in the
acronym, the fix needs to be made available to 12.04 via updates.

  Here's the issue:
have a fresh install of 12.04. After a given time of inactivity, the screen
turns off; then screen locks when you wake it up, it asks for the password.

  I've done BOTH these:
  - System Settings > Brightness and Lock >
* Turn off screen when inactive for: Never
* Lock: off
* Lock screen after: screen turns off (this should be irrelevant given
"Lock: off"; actually, this should be greyed out. Fail.)
* I've deselected the checkbox "ask for password when waking from suspend"
(btw, why is this here?? These settings are supposed to be about screen
locking, not suspend, so either this option description is misleading or this
is in the wrong place and should be in Settings > Power wher the option whether
to suspend is. What a chaos!)

  - System Settings > Power (btw, it's stupid that this and the above are
separate. I think this got fixed too in more recent versions. Why the hell
don't these fix get backported to the current LTS version? Anyway)
* Suspend when inactive for: Never

Yet, screen STILL TURNS OFF after some time of inactivity. The only thing
that has changed is that it doesn't ask me for the password now (I guess it
doesn't lock screen any more). But it still turns off screen.

There are a number of answers on AskUbuntu suggesting to install
configuration tools that will allow you to disable the turning off of
screen, but it's simply RIDICULOUS that (a) there are two separate
settings for the same thing and (b) you need to install extra packages
just tu disable such a basic trivial system setting.

About the scenario described above (see comment #6):

When I check the state with loginctl (see comment #5):

$ loginctl list-users

There are no users listed, but those that had logged in before still
have a triangle before their name on the login screen indicating they
are still logged in (even though they have logged out now).

[Dx-packages] [Bug 764424] Re: Launcher - dropping a file on a launcher app icon should open that file in the app

2013-10-25 Thread korst
The highlighting of doesn't work well for folders. Nautilus is the only
app I've seen lighting up when draggging a folder to the launcher, but I
also expect apps like audacious to light up. Audacious.desktop has
"MimeType=inode/directory;" in it, so it sould highlight. Easytag is a
another app that doesn't light up (even if I add
MimeType=inode/directory; to its .desktop)

Another DnD bug happens when you drag a file or folder from nautilus to
the launcher, but drop it outside the launcher. the launcher will then
stay in its highlighted state till you open and close the dash.

  happen.

Also at the moment many Launcher icons do not highlight when the user
starts dragging, even if the application supports opening the file
  type being dragged.

For example, if the user starts dragging a text file firefox and
libreoffice writer should illuminate in addition to gedit.

Another example is dragging a tarball; thunderbird should illuminate
and if the tarball is dropped on the thunderbird icon it should open a
new message with it as an attachment.

UPDATE : Compiz screws up the handling when a drop happens at about the same
time as the scale timeout goes off. It doesn't freeze so much as grab the mouse
forever.

  -
  Desired resolution:

  - create a new desktop key that details all file types that can be
imported into an application. See Robert Carr's comments #1 and #4 for
  details.

  - For the following applications, ensure the information about which
file types can be opened by a drag and drop operation is updated:
LibreOffice, Thunderbird, Chormium, Firefox, Gedit, Image viewer,
Shotwell, GIMP, Transmission, Terminal, Brasero Disk Burner, Archive
  Manager, Evolution, Rhythembox, VLC

Unable to access indicators from HUD

Status in Unity HUD:

Status in “hud” package in Ubuntu:
  Opinion

Bug description:
In Ubuntu 12.10 I was able to use HUD to access Messaging menu and Gwibber's
"Update Status" option there, making status updates to Twitter easy and fast.
I could also use HUD to change my status in Empathy from Available to Busy
and vice-versa.

In Ubuntu 13.04 Beta HUD no longer finds the "Update Status" option when
typing "Update Status" or "Update"
Also writing "Available" "Away" or "Busy" no longer gives any results.

Other indicators however are accessible and I can use HUD to Suspend
my computer or to view Skype status or Ubuntu one indicator options.

  Repeating:
  1. Press alt key to start HUD
  2. Write "Update status" or "Available"

  What was expected:
HUD should have shown options ether from Gwibber to Update Status or Empathy
to change status to Available both available from the messaging indicator.

  What happened:
  HUD didn't find any results.

  Notes:
  I have Ubuntu 13.04 Beta 64bit upgraded from Ubuntu 12.10 64bits and I'm
using proprietary fglrx drivers.

Metrics for preview actions (buttons in previews) are not collected
and sent to the Smart Scopes Server. While this was initially designed
and meant this way (only result activation and preview requests are
included in the metrics), it became a problem since Unity was changed
to display previews by default, and only activate items on double
click - the metrics are now not very useful, since they mostly just
show preview requests and few activations.

This needs to be fixed by counting any preview action as activation
for metrics purposes. This is crucial for improving relevancy and
  accuracy of Smart Scopes results.

Title:
no easy way to disable screensaver on 12.04 without installing
  additional tools

Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:

* Turn off screen when inactive for: Never
* Lock: off
* Lock screen after: screen turns off (this should be irrelevant given
"Lock: off"; actually, this should be greyed out.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1240595] Re: [regression] Unity launcher is gone after fullscreen windows are resized!

2013-10-25 Thread Christopher Townsend
I've narrowed this down to http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~unity-
team/unity/trunk/revision/3515 being the offending commit. I'm not sure
I understand why the developer changed QueueDraw() to NeedSoftRedraw(),
but if I change it to QueueDraw() again, then this issue goes away. I
will have to chat with the developer to understand his rationale and
figure out a proper fix.

Bug description:
using ubuntu touch image 82 i see the session init consume about 10MB per
minute as long as the screen is on with Mir.
running the same session with surfaceflinger only consumes 1MB per minute.

in both cases the system starts to swap heavily at some point, making
  the UI unresponsive.

http://paste.ubuntu.com/6196223/ has the top output of a Mir session
after 30min, the UI just got completely unresponsive when this
  snapshot was taken.

http://paste.ubuntu.com/6196332/ is the top output of a surfaceflinger
session where the screen was off for about 10min

apparently the leak only occurs while the screen is on, it seems to be
permanently there but in the case of surfaceflinger it hits less hard.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1244680] [NEW] Clock freezes after changing timezone

2013-10-25 Thread Steve Magoun
Public bug reported:

The time in the datetime indicator freezes when you change the timezone.

To reproduce:
1) Note the current time in the datetime indicator
2) Change the system timezone, such as by clicking a different timezone in the
datetime indicator menu or changing timezone in the date/time system settings
app

Expected results:
The clock in the datetime indicator updates to show the current time in the new
timezone. The clock continues to function normally, updating the minutes/hours
as time progresses

Actual results:
The clock in the datetime indicator freezes. It does not update to the new
timezone and no longer updates the minutes/hours - it stays frozen at the time
it displayed when you updated the timezone.

The system time is not affected; running 'date' from a terminal displays
the correct time. The menu in the datetime indicator will display the
correct time. It's just the clock in the panel that is broken.

This is 100% reproducible on my system.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1244370] Re: Sound indicator dosen't work properly

2013-10-25 Thread Lars Uebernickel
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1213907 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1213907

Thanks for reporting this. The sound menu was specified like this by
design[1] but never behaved according to that spec until 13.10. The spec
has since been changed to not show controls for all players anymore.

There's more detail on bug #1213907.

  Sound Indicator icon doesn't update

Status in “indicator-sound” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Since upgrading to Saucy, the icon in the menubar doesn't update based
  on the sound level

  Repro steps:
  1. change sound levels

  What is expected:
  2. Sound icon should change based on volume level

  What happens:
  2. Icon remains at same level it was at at log in.

Anecdotally, changing volume and then logging in and out will refresh
the icon. Muting also doesn't update the icon.

I don't know what you mean by "message #69" but if you're talking about
the work-around described here:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/360806/volume-indicator-issue-after-
xubuntu-13-10-upgrade

then yes, I have it working on 3 systems.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1244680] Re: Clock freezes after changing timezone

Title:
  Clock freezes after changing timezone

Status in “indicator-datetime” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The time in the datetime indicator freezes when you change the
  timezone.

  To reproduce:
  1) Note the current time in the datetime indicator
  2) Change the system timezone, such as by clicking a different timezone in
the datetime indicator menu or changing timezone in the date/time system
settings app

  Expected results:
The clock in the datetime indicator updates to show the current time in the
new timezone. The clock continues to function normally, updating the
minutes/hours as time progresses

  Actual results:
The clock in the datetime indicator freezes. It does not update to the new
timezone and no longer updates the minutes/hours - it stays frozen at the time
it displayed when you updated the timezone.

The system time is not affected; running 'date' from a terminal
displays the correct time. The menu in the datetime indicator will
display the correct time. It's just the clock in the panel that is
  broken.

This is 100% reproducible on my system.

Bug description:
When clicking on the date/time, the dropdown window contains the
year/month/day I visited there previously. Since altering the month or
year doesn't change the day, often today's day number is highlighted.
This, along with today's date being shown at the top, very easily
leads to the misbelief that the current month's calendar is being
shown, which is not necessarily the case. It's terribly misleading.

(In the mean time, I understand that keeping the year/month during
closure and reopening of the dropdown might be considered a feature
  useful for many people.)

Furthermore, there's no option to jump to today, I have to manually
walk to the current year and month.

My suggestion is a "Today" button, with clearly distinguisable
disabled state if it's already today's month being shown.

Especially annoying since if a user opens it to see the date, then does
so on the next day... it will show the same date as before (i.e. the
date of the previous day). I can only get it to reset by logging out or

Status in LibUnity:

Status in “libunity” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
The unity.deps file (required for Vala compilation) includes gee-1.0
as a dependency. However, libgee is not used by the vapi and
  therefore should not be included.

To quote from the Vala upstream bindings guide (from
https://live.gnome.org/Vala/UpstreamGuide )
"The only other file that should be distributed is a deps file, which lists
pkg-config names of any dependencies exposed in the public API."

In other words, if there are no libgee symbols in the API, libgee
shouldn't be included in the deps file. It's quite possible some of
the other libraries aren't needed for the API as well, I haven't
  checked.

This is a problem for us as it means we can't link against both
libunity and libgee 0.8, since libunity's deps file causes Vala to
pull in symbols for libgee 0.6, which causes the compiler to error out
  with a symbol conflict.

$ urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base0', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base02', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_red', using pink instead.

urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base1', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base3', using pink instead.
urxvt: unable to parse color 'S_base1', using pink instead.

To reproduce, you can add just the following lines to your ~/.Xresources:

  #define S_base0 #839496

You have to purge blueman (sudo apt-get purge blueman), then install the
debian tree blueman for it to work. I just grabbed the deb from here:
http://packages.debian.org/stable/x11/blueman. Also make sure to not
update it.

New apps on the launcher have no shortcut key until something is being
  closed

Status in Unity:
  Fix Released
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in “unity” source package in Precise:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: unity

For certain applications, such as evince and gedit, if they are the
last application on the launcher, they do not have a shortcut key
associated with them (such as Super+0, Super+1, etc). This affects
both the display and the input: the shortcut will not show if you hold
down Super, nor will it work if you press it.

The steps to reproduce this are quite specific, but I can always reproduce it
on multiple machines. The conditions required to trigger this bug appear to be:
  - The app is in a certain set, which I haven't yet determined, but it
includes evince and gedit.
  - The app is in the last position on the launcher (not including the
workspaces, apps, files and trash).
  - No other apps have been closed since this app was opened.
Obviously this is to be expected if there are more than 10 apps on the
launcher, but this happens with less than 10.

Therefore, example steps to reproduce are:
  1. Ensure there are less than 9 icons open on the launcher.
  2. Open Evince.
  3. Do not open or close anything else.
  4. Hold down Super. Notice that the Evince icon has not been assigned a
number.
  5. Press Super+n where n is the number you were expecting Evince to be
assigned. Notice that it does not do anything.

The fact that evince was doing it led me to bug #768900 (possibly
caused by NoDisplay=True), but that doesn't explain gedit.

A workaround is to open and close something small like Calculator
  after opening Evince or Gedit.

I would attach a screenshot but PrintScreen doesn't work while Super
is held down. Is there any way to do this?

  Notes:
  I have Ubuntu 13.04 Beta 64bit upgraded from Ubuntu 12.10 64bits and I'm
using proprietary fglrx drivers.

Title:
Unity/Mir causes Motif dialog window shrunk

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 13.10 64bit version.

Nedit is a text editor based on Motif and I have used it for many year
on various systems (Redhat *, OpenSuSe *, Ubuntu 9.10 ~13.10) and
  never have any problem.

However, after I ugraded my OS from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10, I noticed
some wierd things related with the Find/Replace dialog window of
Nedit. For example, if I press "ctrl+F" (shortcut for Finding string
in file.), the dialog appears normal. However, as I use the finding
function more and more, the dialog window appears in a smaller and
  smaller size.

So for me it seems something wrong in the current version of Unity and
  Mir.

You can find Nedit in Ubuntu's Software Center.

If you need any information, please let me know.

  Thank you.

  JF
