Avast? Last I heard they did antivirus software for Windows. Might have changed business focus since I last heard years ago but a quick look on their website shows they still offer the AV. [DNG] PHP 8.1 depends on systemd?
Hello, Trying to upgrade to PHP 8.1, I found out it now depends on systemd or systemd-tmpfiles (no package available). https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/php8.1-fpm Is it a choice made on Debian side or is PHP now really depending on systemd? Re: [DNG] PHP 8.1 depends on systemd?
Looking on my main web box (running deb sid w/ sysvinit), I see that I have a dummy systemd-tmpfiles there: :; apt show systemd-tmpfiles Package: systemd-tmpfiles Version: 1.0 Status: install ok installed Priority: optional Section: misc Maintainer: Your Name Installed-Size: 9,216 B Provides: systemd-tmpfiles Homepage: httpgo.away Download-Size: unknown APT-Manual-Installed: yes APT-Sources: /var/lib/dpkg/status Description: make php work so this is not new on deb's side; old enough in fact that i do not recall having to do that. I have several home-made no-backgrounding daemons running, and > those wouldn't be possible with finit. I don't see the point, learn to write good deamons. It seems the need to use theese process monitors has sprung up from the availability of shitty deamons. In my view, when a deamon dies by any other cause than from your will then it shall die so hard that it causes a major headacke and the shitty programmer should be publicly flogged as a reminder and example to other programmers -- well not really, but you get my point. Most deamons I have run, they just run, they don't need a process monitor except me.
