Wow, those are some nice improvements there. Transparency and
transformations both are highly useful. I look forward to seeing it live.

svg export with svg embedded

2013-01-15 Thread vwf
Hello,

I use dia successfully for several projects. Recently I stumbled over a
problem:

For a new project I have some shapes that consist of a .shape- and a
.svg-file: the .shape file contains connectors and size, and the shape
itself is in the .svg-file.

When I export my diagram as a svg-file, the included .svg's are not
included but linked using xlink:href. This makes the exports sometimes
useless and sometimes difficult to use because the exported file is
incomplete. Would it be possible to change this behaviour and make the
exported svg complete?

Thanks for all the good work!

custom shapes, OK ... custom connectors?

2013-01-15 Thread Williams, Paul C
Greetings,

I'm working on a project where it would be useful to create custom connectors
(e.g. an Arc that has visible text and hidden metadata attributes). I see in
the documentation some mention of creating custom shapes, but nowhere about
custom connectors...

Is it possible to create custom connectors?

Paul,

I don't think there is a distinction between shapes and connectors. And
there are only custom shapes.

Good luck,

Mike

I don't see a reason, why you keep your shape in a separate file.
Dia's not doing anything wrong, it follow your original logic.
If you want it to behave differently, change your base logic first. I.e.
include shape visual into the shape file.

Does the description in the sheet file need to be unique?

2013-01-15 Thread tpkyteroo luebeck
If the description in the sheet file needs to be unique for each shape
file, then maybe an update to the online tutorial can say this. That might
be one of the reasons why I kept getting "more then one object with same
name error!.

Does the description in the sheet file need to be unique? For example:
Not Unique (and wrong?):

  cucurbita

  cucurbita

Unique (correct?):

  cucurbita 1

  cucurbita 2

Lastly, I didn't realize that .shape files are editedable in Jedit. If I
would have known that, I would have found the link that was too specific.
LOL I should know better because I do try to edit all files in Jedit except
png and jpg.

Thanks!
