Connecting lines problem
I'm trying to create a simple diagram, which will probably be my sole effort in the field. I've created an object joined by a vertical line to a horizontal line beneath it. Beneath the horizontal line are five more objects, each of which I want to connect to the horizontal line by a vertical line. My problem is that the connection points available to me on the horizontal line and on some of the objects beneath it mean that any line between them will not be straight up and down, but at an angle. The point's a small one, but I'd like my connecting lines all to be straight up and down. Is there a way to manipulate the connection points on the horizontal line and the objects so that they're on my grid lines or, at least, will produce straight up and down connecting lines? -- To see papers written by me on, among other things, literary allusions in Australian reasons for judgment, start here: http://ssrn.com/author=1164057 To see photos taken by me of, among other things, Sydney now (as well as comparative photos taken by others of Sydney then), start here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/23623...@n03/sets/72157604225021655/ -- ___ dia-list mailing list dia-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/dia-list FAQ at http://live.gnome.org/Dia/Faq Main page at http://live.gnome.org/Dia

Try zigzagline or right-click on the line and in popupmenu choose "Add connection point" 2010/6/23 lesl...@ozemail.com.au > I'm trying to create a simple diagram, which will probably be my sole > effort in > the field. > > I've created an object joined by a vertical line to a horizontal line > beneath it. > Beneath the horizontal line are five more objects, each of which I want to > connect to the horizontal line by a vertical line. > > My problem is that the connection points available to me on the horizontal > line > and on some of the objects beneath it mean that any line between them will > not be > straight up and down, but at an angle. > > The point's a small one, but I'd like my connecting lines all to be > straight up > and down. > > Is there a way to manipulate the connection points on the horizontal line > and the > objects so that they're on my grid lines or, at least, will produce > straight up > and down connecting lines? > -- > To see papers written by me on, among other things, literary allusions in > Australian reasons for judgment, start here: > http://ssrn.com/author=1164057 > > To see photos taken by me of, among other things, Sydney now (as well as > comparative photos taken by others of Sydney then), start here: > http://www.flickr.com/photos/23623...@n03/sets/72157604225021655/ > -- > > > > ___ > dia-list mailing list > dia-list@gnome.org > http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/dia-list > FAQ at http://live.gnome.org/Dia/Faq > Main page at http://live.gnome.org/Dia > > ___ dia-list mailing list dia-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/dia-list FAQ at http://live.gnome.org/Dia/Faq Main page at http://live.gnome.org/Dia

I may have this wrong, but it SEEMS to me that using "Add connection point" on my horizontal line automatically divides the line into a number of parts of equal length one greater than the number of parts into which it was formerly divided. It doesn't allow me to choose a particular point on my line to which to add a connection point.
