Re: read visio drawing in a word document
I think you will have to have a copy of visio in order to see the visio diagram that is included in a MS Word document. ..Brian On Thu, 11 Jun 2009, PoWah Wong wrote: Date: Thu, 11 Jun 2009 09:10:34 -0700 (PDT) From: PoWah Wong Reply-To: discussions about usage and development of dia To: dia-list@gnome.org Subject: read visio drawing in a word document Someone email me a visio drawing which is included in a word document. Re: New shapes in Dia
Hi Peter, NewShape.dia references an object that is not part of the Dia distribution. Thus it does not open correctly. for me. > However, the new shapes just show just the main element of the shape > correctly while the other grafic elements are reduced to outlines (thin > blue lines) instead of the image created.. It makes no difference if the > elements were grouped or ungrouped before export. "other grafic elements" - did you embed bitmap images in your shape (i.e. did you use the Image object)? I cannot recommend embedding images as you have to be very careful about getting the references right. The following workaround might help you: Instead of wrapping your images into shapes, consider to distribute the images themselves. Re: adding a line result in a line without an arrow
Hi PoWah, If you start DIA you will get several distinct windows. One of them has the name 'Dia' and the version you are using. In that window you see at the bottom your arrow. There you can define what kind of arrow you would like to have - or just a straight line - if that is what you wish. Re: read visio drawing in a word document
If Brian is correct, then you may wish to try taking a screen image of the visio diagram, this can be placed in Dia and you can edit over top of it. MS Word also has image annotation capability in the picture editor.
