How to draw a line from a circle to itself
I'm using Dia 0.96.1 on 'Windows to create state transition diagrams. There may very well be a sheet of objects that would help me but I'm just using circles for states and lines and arcs for transitions. The problem I'm running into is when a state reenters itself on some event. If I try to use an arc, I end up with a teardrop shape attached to and in front of the center of the circle. If I use a Bezier line, it's hard to get it the shape I want. What I'm really looking for is 270 degrees of a circle touching the edge of the circle I use for the state and with an arrow on one end. How can I do that? ___ dia-list mailing list dia-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/dia-list FAQ at http://live.gnome.org/Dia/Faq Main page at http://live.gnome.org/Dia

I noticed that a single line will have this capability, but Did you try the following: * Use a small dot symbol (e.g. the Circle from the "Assorted" sheet). * Connect your lines to that dot, resize until it has the same size as the line thickness. * Move around as required Regards, Steffen ___ dia-list mailing list dia-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/dia-list FAQ at http://live.gnome.org/Dia/Faq Main page at http://live.gnome.org/Dia
Changing/Setting end_arrow from python
--- Begin Message --- Hello I need to set the end_arrow type of a 'Standard - Arc' object from a python script. How do I create the Arrow instance required? I have been looking through the python docs, example scripts, and the code but haven't found what I am looking for. I have been able to change color properties by assigning strings (eg. o.properties['fill_colour']='red') but haven't found the code which enables this. Trying to change the Arrow type directly doesn't work. Any ideas? I use the electric (or circuit, I forget) connector. On Tue, Mar 3, 2009 at 1:28 PM, Steffen Macke wrote: > Hi, > > > situation they would complain about. Re: Dear Dia developers. Zigzagline not sufficiant
Thanks for your quick replys. I suppose the hacks you proposed are great suggestions, but I was looking for something a little cleaner, and resizing circles all day wasn't what I had in mind. Also, lining up dotted lines with the circuit connectors doesn't allow for ease of lengthening/shortening my lines without overlapping. At any rate, I was more or less looking for a fix from the developer standpoint as I can see that this isn't something I should be worrying about at the presentation level. If you could just point me in the right direction, I would be more than willing to provide the source patch to the proper line tools. Thanks again.
