[SailfishDevel] Next SailfishOS community meeting: 31-March @ 14:30 UTC (Chair needed)

2016-03-30 Thread Carol Chen
Hi everyone!

Finally we see some activities, thanks to all who responded on
https://together.jolla.com/question/54157/sailfishos-open-source-collaboration-meeting-planning/

We can have the meeting tomorrow (Thurs, 31/3) if someone can chair the
meeting. From this week onwards I have a recurring work meeting on
Thursdays at 10am EDT (14:00 UTC) so I won't be able to make it for most of
the community meetings, nor chair them.

Here's the tentative agenda for tomorrow's meeting:

Date: 31 March 2016
Time: 14:30 UTC, for your local time: http://bit.ly/1RK22M3
(note recent daylight savings / summer time changes)
Duration: 60 minutes
Chair: ??
Location: #mer-meeting on Freenode IRC

Those without an IRC client can access it here:
http://webchat.freenode.net?channels=mer-meeting

Current proposed topics:
* Intro (5 min)
* Paid app situation - ApB (5 mins)
* Platform Development documentation - ArmsOfSorrow (5 min)
* Future of Jolla in the professional environment - Aliasbody (30 min)
* General discussions - everyone (10 min)
* Wrap up and next meeting (5 min)

Please familiarize yourself with the topics before the meeting, as well
as the common Meetbot commands https://wiki.debian.org/MeetBot (it's
used for meeting management and logging)

Thanks and best regards,
  Carol.

2016-03-30 Thread Oliver Schmidt
I just added another topic (the one from schmittlauch) but I'm not sure
whether the internet access in German trains is good enough to take part in
the meeting (cybette may know).
Will my topic be covered too, despite being late with proposing it?

Regards, Oliver

Hi Oliver,

Your topic can be covered but it'll be hard to talk about it if you're
not there. If you don't make it, can you recommend someone who can make
your point in your absence?

Cheers,

Steph

2016-03-30 Thread Carol Chen
I used cellular data instead of the train wifi while in Germany, and it
worked well except when going underground/through tunnels, so depends on
your journey :)

One option is to extend the "general discussions" and you can ask questions
that were not included in the agenda in time. Andy Branson mentioned in the
Jolla telegram group that he'll be asking about any plans to move to Qt5.6.

In general please remember to add topics 2 days before meeting days, i.e.
by Tuesday if meetings are on Thursdays, so that the chairs can put
together the agenda in the invitations without having to change things last
minute.

Thanks,
 Carol.

[SailfishDevel] LED Notification

2016-03-30 Thread george b
Hi

I am working on a port of the textsecure App from the Ubuntu Phone.
Basic Text messaging is working between my jolla and an android phones
Signal App.

Now I want to implement notifications on new incoming messages. I can't
figure out how to do this. I read something about the use of D-Bus for
this. There is also a qml binding [1]. The example only leads to a simple
text on the messages screen. No real Notification is triggered.

Can someone point me in the right direction on this issue?

Bye
Georg

Re: [SailfishDevel] LED Notification

2016-03-30 Thread Matthew Vogt
Hi Georg.

There's three ways to emit notifications: via D-Bus, using the QML binding, and
using the C++ library underlying the QML library. The last one is in the
nemonotifications-qt5 library, the interface is described here:
https://sailfishos.org/develop/docs/nemo-qml-plugin-notifications/libnemonotifications-notification.html/

You can see an example of the C++ library version in use here:
https://git.merproject.org/mer-core/fingerterm/blob/master/util.cpp#L235

If you need more assistance, please indicate which interface you're using and
describe the problem you're having.

Thanks,
Matt

For extra pro led configuration for notification events you can check
this repo: https://github.com/CODeRUS/sailfish-led-config
using these configs you can change led color for your notifications in
realtime
