Heads up: dcmtk soname bump coming to F42 + rawhide (v3.6.9)

2025-02-19 Thread Ankur Sinha
Hi all,

I'm working on updating dcmtk to version 3.6.9 in rawhide:

https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/dcmtk/pull-request/10
https://github.com/DCMTK/dcmtk/releases/tag/DCMTK-3.6.9

This includes a soname bump and the following dependencies need to be
re-built (maintainers cc'd):

- InsightToolkit
- OpenImageIO
- ctk
- gdcm

I've run an impact check in COPR and they all build fine with the new
version (ctk needed a patch):

https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/ankursinha/dcmtk-3.6.9/monitor/

I maintain InsightToolkit, ctk, and gdcm, so I can rebuild those.

OpenImageIO maintainers: I can use my proven-packager access to bump and
rebuild it too if that's OK with you.

RE: Packaging Radeon ProRender addon for Blender

2025-02-19 Thread Rix, Tom via devel
[AMD Official Use Only - AMD Internal Distribution Only]

Thanks, I will take a look.
This would seem to conflict with using hiprt for raytracing, I was thinking we
would be integrating hiprt into blender 4.4+

Here is the spec file of Radeon ProRender addon for Blender 3D:
https://download.copr.fedorainfracloud.org/results/@designsuite/blender/fedora-rawhide-x86_64/08665473-python-blender-radeon-prorender-addon/python-blender-radeon-prorender-addon.spec

I am unable to follow the COPR link to the package, can you send them to me
directly ?
I am more familiar with ROCm than the rendering side of AMD products but would
like to help.

Hello team,

I stumble in Radeon ProRender engine [1] and attempt to package it following
the python guideline:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/designsuite/blender/build/8665473/

It seems an alternative to both Blender Cycles engine (has issue for AMD GCN
architecture with newer ROCm release) and Lux Render supporting all videocards
hardware. Could someone give a point how
to properly packaging it please as addon for Blender?

Thank you.

Closing the loop here, after a `git gc` on the server side repo we
were able to retry that branch request, and it succeeded.

Next time please do file a releng ticket so we can take care of it sooner.

Representing the CoreOS edition, we're trying to figure out if there is
anything we need to do for
this change. Do we need to include any rpms like hwcaps-loader? or would that
dep be brought in by
packages taking advantage of this functionality?

Guidelines for packaging icons for other themes?

2025-02-19 Thread Orion Poplawski

While poking at f3d 3.0.0 I see that it installs:

/usr/share/icons/HighContrast/scalable/apps/f3d.svg

How are we supposed to handle this? require highcontrast-icon-theme?

Thanks.

Re: Packaging Radeon ProRender addon for Blender

2025-02-19 Thread Luya Tshimbalanga
It may be worthwhile a trial considering that some users still runs on
GCN architecture. Maybe there is a mechanism to detect hiprt for Radeon
Prorender.

Thanks, I will take a look.

This would seem to conflict with using hiprt for raytracing, I was
thinking we would be integrating hiprt into blender 4.4+

Here is the spec file of Radeon ProRender addon for Blender 3D:

I am unable to follow the COPR link to the package, can you send
them to me directly ?

I am more familiar with ROCm than the rendering side of AMD
products but would like to help.

Hello team,

I stumble in Radeon ProRender engine [1] and attempt to package it
following the python guideline:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/designsuite/blender/build/8665473/

It seems an alternative to both Blender Cycles engine (has issue
for AMD GCN architecture with newer ROCm release) and Lux Render
supporting all videocards hardware. Could someone give a point how
to properly packaging it please as addon for Blender?

Thank you.

I would handle that as a general case:

 1) either require highcontrast-icon-theme
 2) or co-own /usr/share/icons/HighContrast(/scalable(/apps))
