Heads-up: python-sphinx-issues 4.1.0 coming to Rawhide and F41

2024-08-19 Thread Elliott Sales de Andrade
In one week, I will update `python-sphinx-issues` to 4.1.0. Based on
upstream changelog, the only breaking change is:

- Remove ``__version__``, ``__author__``, and ``__license__`` attributes.
Use ``importlib.metadata`` to read this metadata instead.

I ran a test build on copr and see no issues with dependencies, listed below:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/qulogic/sphinx-issues-4/packages/

- python-jinja2
- python-marshmallow
- python-netaddr
- python-pynamodb
- python-pynetdicom

Maintainers of affected packages should have received this message directly.

Mutual misunderstanding, I guess ;-)

What I meant was the following: Say we have two mock configs A and B
which are "the same" (one links to the other), such as:

- fedora-rawhide and fedora-42 (as of now)
- epel-7 and centos+epel-7 (now in eol)

Then local builds would use one buildroot for both A and B. OTOH, if
copr offers A and B, then this would create 2 chroots and different
builds.

I (mis?)-understood your suggestion as having both A and B in copr in
such cases. My suggestion was to offer, say, A only (not B) in copr and
have "this is the same as B" as a description.

Looking at current state, we have for example:
- mock core config: rhel+epel-9 (but no epel-9)
- copr: epel-9 with description "Builds are done against RHEL + EPEL."
  (but no rhel+epel)

So, if A="rhel+epel-9" and B="epel", we have A in mock core config (but
not B) and B in copr with description "same as A". I guess it's almost
what I suggest (with a mock config link from B to A missing).

Note that the status quo is different for centos-stream-9:
- mock core config: centos-stream-9, centos-stream+epel-9,
centos-stream+epel-next-9
- copr: centos-stream-9, centos-stream+epel-next-9

Cheers
Michael

Re: poppler soname bump in Rawhide

2024-08-19 Thread Marek Kasik

Hi,

I've fixed this issue and rebuilt Inkscape.

Unfortunately, I have issues with some other packages due to the
unannounced soname bump of re2. qt5-qtwebengine needs to be rebuilt due
to that but it fails. I watch the
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/qt5-qtwebengine/pull-request/18#request_diff
and I'm trying to fix the issue with undefined references.

inkscape, sadly, uses the unstable API and fails:

I'll dig further unless someone else has seen this before.

Both std::string::starts_with() and std::string::ends_with() were added in
C++20, so if this header is being included in a build using an older C++
standard, these two functions won't be defined by the string header.

Hi,

I've prepared rebase of poppler to 24.08.0, which was released last

week, in the side tag "f41-build-side-93673". I'm asking you to build
your dependent packages in it and I will merge it to the main buildroot
at Monday (12th of August) just before the branching.

There are several API changes and soname bump of the base library

libpoppler.so.* and also some changes in CPP frontend which needed bump
of libpoppler-cpp.so.* too.

Packages which need to be rebuilt:

boomaga
calligra
deepin-file-manager
docparser
efl
extractpdfmark
gambas3
gdal
gdcm
inkscape
kf5-kitinerary
kitinerary
libcupsfilters
libreoffice
pdf2djvu
pdfgrep
R-pdftools
scribus

If your package still uses the unstable API (headers from

poppler-devel), could you consider to change it to use a stable API in
the future (glib, qt5, C++)? It would mean less work for you and I would
be able to disable the unstable API.

Regards

Marek

Hey All

Fedora 41 GNOME 47 Test Day is happening[0] from 2024-08-19 through
2024-08-22.
This is when we test the new features and version bumps of
all the GNOME core apps and desktops.
This time, we have some new changes coming along and we would
appreciate as much testing as possible.

Self Introduction: Michael Berry

2024-08-19 Thread Michael Berry
Hi! I don't have much of a resume but I am a long time
user/enthusiast/activist of FOSS, and I recently filed a review request on
an open source project I have been working on, a user friendly, robust
btrfs backup program developed with Python. Here is the link
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2305930
I have always hoped that after using open source software I would someday
be able to give back or contribute to a great community like Fedora in some
meaningful way. I am a middle aged enthusiastic computer programming geek
with some spare time.
