300 Million Downloads of Apache OpenOffice®

With great pleasure we have seen that Apache OpenOffice® was downloaded
more than 300 million times from 2011 until now, October 24th. Here
included are more than 200 million downloads of all releases in the
4.1.x branch. This was reached with our partner SourceForge.net.

Of course there are some other ways like alternative servers hosted by
Apache itself. So, actually we don't know these numbers but it is for
sure that we are already a lot above the 300 million downloads line. And
when we include also the copies on CDs and DVDs then we can add another
big number on top.

Currently we are very busy with baking our next release: Apache
OpenOffice 4.1.8. Nevertheless, it is worth taking a few minutes to
celebrate this milestone.

For some detailed statistics please see the blog post at:

Status on Migration of OpenOffice.org from the Apache CMS

2020-11-02 Thread Dave Fisher
Hi -

I am in the process of migrating content from SVN to Git.

Staging is getting interesting @ https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org

I migrated documentation and ran into a problem with a 330 MB file:
content/documentation/conceptualguide/conceptualguideOOo3_audiobook_0-1alpha.zip

Github only allows files up to 100 MB. I will not migrate this file. I got
around the problem by erasing history. If anyone cares then perhaps I can find
a workaround, but I would rather not.

Github: https://github.com/apache/openoffice-org

Gitbox: https://gitbox.apache.org/repos/asf?p=openoffice-org.git;a=summary

Take a look, but let me finish migrating content before making changes through
GitHub.

READMEs are not yet finalized.

Regards,
Dave

Re: 4.2.x and macOS 10.7

2020-11-02 Thread Jim Jagielski
We still need to force 10.7 as the MIN SDK, and so far, even the macOS10.15.sdk
supports that; There's some low hanging fruit that also needs to be fixed, but
in general we're pretty good.

I think it depends on the configure options. Either of this will cause
the gconf library to end up in the core01 package:
  --enable-gconf --enable-gnome-vfs --enable-lockdown
  --enable-gconf --enable-gio

i think --enable-gconf and --enable-gnome-vfs are defaulted to on in
AOO418, but --enable-lockdown is not. I haven't looked at the official
build script to see what options are set there.
