I know that's not the optimal place to raise this, but I think there are
many Right-to-Left bugs on MAC, which aren't fixed since version 4.0, and
new ones introduced in 4.1.1 (I'm busy; sorry bugzilla).

In my despair, I consider to purchase Apple's iWork suite, and end my
suffering. That's to demonstrate how critical these bugs are; I already
posted some of them, in the issues site.

Reporting broken download link

2014-11-04 Thread Ken Lucas
When I click on any of the three drop-down boxes the text is not visible, so I
do not know what I'm selecting. I have tried accessing the download page from
windows XP and windows 7, using both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome
browsers. I get the same result no matter which one I use.

I was able to download the application by selecting download full installation.
It seems like the default value are for windows.

Too bad that you don't tell us what you real problem is. ;-)
Because from the provided data I don't see a problem or error.

Thats interesting. When browsing to the download webpage I can see all
data. Unfortunately, I don't know a solution for this problem - except
that deleting cookies for Apache webpages and deleting the browser cache
could help.

The website analyzes the data that the browser sends when visiting the
webpage. As you are using Windows and (maybe) English US, this data is
pre-selected (also the most recent version), so that the both download
links are always working.

It may be that the OP's display options (theme, choice of fonts and colours)
make the text invisible.
@Ken: for information, what Windows theme etc are you using?

How did it go? Thank you for attending so many events in Europe. If you
wish to share some details by e-mail (or of course in a blog post, but I
won't nag everybody too much with the need to use our blog more often),
please do.

This is really a lousy answer. Do you really think that I did not retry? Is

CWiki account whitelisted too. The account you will mostly use for
contributing to the documentation is your MWiki account, which has just
been created as per your request to the doc list.

I suggest that you start by reviewing our current effort:
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/UserGuide
You will find a lot of pages to fix and complete. Please take a look and
then come back to the doc list with some ideas on what you would fix or
extend (many pages are yet to be written).

The quality of a local internet connection is beyond OpenOffice's control; many
modern internet browsers can be made to resume a broken download. This article
covers the subject
