Introduction & question about contributing source code?

2014-08-23 Thread Hung Mark
Hello there,

I started to subscribe these list since May. I began by asking question on
API list, volunteer translation on l10n and doc, than finally, I start to
investigate annoying issues I encountered. I come from Taiwan and am
interested about issues specific to traditional Chinese.

I tried to submit issues I've found (
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=125400 ),
also attached the patch I've made, not knowing if I've did it right. I
think you are busy releasing new version these days. Now that I know how to
build and debug now, I may be able to help more.

However it seems that wiki page for contributor is outdated:
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Contributing_Patches

( it suggest to use hg to make patch, and domain developer list marked
outdated, URL to IRT & IIT links are invalid now.

What is the correct procedure to propose a patch for defect ( or
enhancement) ?
Please advice.

Sincerely.

So we should be done with this too.

6. additional blog entry

I copied your announcement mail to
https://blogs.apache.org/OOo/entry/announcing_apache_openoffice_4_1
since at least we should announce releases on our official blog.

I also updated the selected blog posts on the homepage accordingly.

8. what else?

We need a much better planning. We are still fixing issues due to a
release that simply lacked coordination. This will always happen, but
again if we committed to following something like
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Release+Planning+Template
(even in a simplified form) it would be easier to avoid forgetting steps.

The core developers are quite busy. I had a quick look at your patch and it
seems fine, but I am not a specialist in that part of the code so I cannot
apply the patch.

If you have a wiki account go ahead and update, otherwise ask for a wiki
accoun.

Either through BZ (as you have done) followed by a mail on this list or by
simply mailing the patch here.

If its a patch for a known BZ issue, of course it should be attached to
that issue.

Lookiing forward to see more patches from you.

It is not permanently down, but indeed I edited the page to say it's
currently offline. You can find a whole thread about it on this list,
that moved to private conversations. So far, we haven't been able to get
it transferred to Apache (which would be a good option) but it is still

Confirmed, but actually it's enough to click on "Message list" to see
messages. The archives are not under our control. I opened
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-8234 for Infra to check and
you may follow that one. It's also possible that Infra concludes that
this is some obscure bug of the underlying software, in which case you
should report the issue to mbox-dev at httpd.apache.org (the dev list

Re: problem with current (August) mail archive for users

2014-08-23 Thread Mathias Röllig

Hello Andrea!

If I open the August archive for openoffice-users mailing list I get no
messages in threaded view.
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/openoffice-users/201408.mbox/browser

Confirmed, but actually it's enough to click on "Message list" to see
messages. The archives are not under our control. I opened
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-8234 for Infra to check and
you may follow that one. It's also possible that Infra concludes that
this is some obscure bug of the underlying software, in which case you
should report the issue to mbox-dev at httpd.apache.org (the dev list
for that project).

Thank you!
It seems something like this(?):
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=52247
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=55981

This is really bad indeed. The green download area is completely
missing. It happened back in June on several localized sites. Marcus
fixed it site-wide, but for a quick easy fix you should apply this patch
(this is for the Italian site but will work for sr-latn too):

As I know, the download page is Javascript generated, I made a copy of
english page to that directory.

Just translate (again) file msg_prop_l10n_sh.js and then it will be
functional I think. Then rename index_new.html to index.html.

Note that the flyer must be corrected: there is no "Fundacion", it

Also a personal recommendation: we don't have a policy for it but
usually on the first slide I clarify immediately that I am not speaking
on behalf of the project (and the same holds for other committers who
give presentations). It helps a lot in avoiding any confusion and being
free to express personal opinions.

That said... do you need any giveaways? The last items we printed were
button pins, and Kay took care of it. You can find all relevant messages

ask for them in time.

It is not permanently down, but indeed I edited the page to say it's
currently offline. You can find a whole thread about it on this list,
that moved to private conversations. So far, we haven't been able to

When we use Internet Explorer 9 on Vista Home Premium to open

[Patch]multibyte chracter decoding issue when importing RTF document

2014-08-23 Thread Hung Mark
The issue has been submitted to Bugzilla
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=125495

When importing a RTF file with Chinese numbering created by MSO, the
numbering suffix were changed to strange characters ( like B, i ), as
attached image file.

After following the code trace on gdb, I saw that encoding of parserstate
return to default in the middle, so that multibyte string were treated as
ANSI strings.

Because codepage encoding options like \ansicp950 appears later than the
first bracket '{', the first parsing state has been pushed into the stack
before correct encoding were set. Later when it was popped, the encoding of
later state were affected and become the default even if \ansicp950 already
appears, in consequence it affect multibyte string conversion for text
token.

The fix is to call setEncoding instead of setSrcEncoding when seeing
encoding related control word.

Updated code will overwrite the encoding of the state on top of the frame.
Since setEncoding is there without anybody calling it, I wonder if it is
typo of original author.
The patch has been verified to work in my environment.

In theory , all multibyte chracter encoded documents were affected.

Please help to review & merge if possible.
