Next Plan for AOO 4.0 Testing

2013-05-03 Thread Shenfeng Liu
Hi, all,
I just want to update on our next plan for AOO 4.0 Testing. Since sidebar
FVT already finished, we are currently preparing for a full regression
which will cover the following areas:
(1) Basic Function Verification
(2) MS Interoperability Test
(3) 2nd phase of sidebar testing
(4) Defect verification

So following works are on going:
- Yi Xuan and Yu Zhen are inputting test cases in Testlink.
- Yu Zhen and I are working on are test guidance for the Full Regression
Test, and plan to publish it on our planning wiki for reference.
- Then we wait for the next snapshot build from Juergen which contains the
most recent fixes.

I saw many people joined and volunteered for QA work. I will keep a list
and contact you all when the Regression Testing is kicked off. Thanks very
much for your supporting to AOO QA work!

objects may be best. Possibilities for this:

 (1) Gallery
 (2) Panel which offers to start DrawObject construction, like in the

We have a panel for (1), but the context switch would need to change
the TabBar (instead of reacting on context switch and changing the
 panels dependent of content).

We have no panel for (2), but it may be not too difficult to crreate
one. Wouldn't it be nice to have/show that panel for other apps, too?
It could show the draw object creators as ToolBars with useful groups,
but some of this vertically, thus offering a much more direct
selection which object creation to start than the current Draw toolbar
 offers...

Maybe too much for 4.0, but...

I've just updated the Building Guide accordingly:

Thanks!

The only thing that has to be changed is configure.in, where there is
a suggestion for the download (line 132 where the --with-epm-url
option is defined).
But copying it to apache extras would probably be better.
Any volunteers to make the necessary changes?

Done [1]. I also added an alternative location [2] that seems to be more
generic. It also has the matching MD5.

[2] http://epm.sourcearchive.com/downloads/3.7-1/epm_3.7.orig.tar.gz

Both proposed changes make sense too, of course. In general, we should
consolidate build dependencies (libraries, dictionaries) on as few
servers as possible, to avoid problems like this one.

+1
We already have [3] as backup to upstream locations for the category-B

Sorry for the late feedback.
Thanks for your input.

As far as I can see the spin box control do not have an implementation
for an Undo stack. Currently, it remembers the value before the first
editing took place and on Undo this value is restored. There are no
intermediate steps possible, now - if my knowledge about this control is
correct.

Thus, if we really want to have such an Undo stack in our spin box
controls we should focus on it for one of our next releases.

Best regards, Oliver.

Re: #122115 Base: Record mixup/repetition when loading chunks from SQL-DB

2013-05-03 Thread Jean-Louis 'Hans' Fuchs

Hello

We were able to isolate the problem further. It happend in "paging" in
the Database (Base) application. Connections to SQL-type DBs will
mixup/repeat records when loading the next chunk and the scrolling up.
It's not only a display problem. The data then is acutally there and
further actions will act upon these records.

https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=122115

Our strategy at the moment: Find somebody who worked on this part of
AOO and ask him for help. Is someone willing to help us or knows who to
ask?

Best,
Jean-Louis Fuchs

[Sidebar] Win / Linux: layout difference of the color picker?

2013-05-03 Thread Hagar Delest

Hi,

I face a display glitch on the AOO dev build, see this bug report:
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=122198

Armin kindly proposed a workaround (thanks!) but I'm wondering if there isn't
some difference of behavior between Windows and GNU/Linux (it works fine by
default on the Win version from Armin).

Could someone with AOO 4 under GNU/Linux check if the color picker (for font
color for example) gives the same display when called from the main toolbar and
from the sidebar? On my system row,col are inverted.

Hi Rob,

it's great that you keep our download counter up-to-date.

Because it's showing the numbers an a few webpages, IMHO it makes sense

centralize the core number, so that only one location has to be updated
and
no every webpage for itself.

I could give you this little present. ;-)

The thought has entered my mind. But I haven't come up with a great
solution so far.

The "master" value is whatever is in the 3rd column of the last row of
this data file:

http://www.openoffice.org/stats/aoo34-downloads.txt

We'd need to extract that, divide by 1 million and truncate to get a
value like "47".

Yes, but this would be the master solution. I hadn't this in mind but more a
intermediate solution like caching the number in one file and all respective
webpages showing this.

Would this be acceptable? To get this out of "aoo34-downloads.txt" is one
step further I don't know how to do it yet.

It doesn't simple very simple to me. If it was just text in on
the page, then making that dynamic is easy. But the interaction with
Facebook is trickier.

For example, look at this OpenGraph metadata from the the download/index.html:

Do we reallly need to state an exact number here?

IMHO it is sufficiant to state that we have "... millions over millions
trusted downloads ..." or a similar text without numbers.

Marcus

This is in the, so Javascript is not running yet. And, it is
fetched by Facebook for creating posts when someone shares, and I
doubt they are interpreting Javascript.

So I like the idea of simplifying this, but I think it would need to
be done servers-side.

-Rob

Ideally ideally the aoo34-downloads.txt would also be updated
automatically based on calling the SourceForge REST API.

Sure ;-)

Re: Results from AOO 4.0 Logo Poll

2013-05-03 Thread Rob Weir
I've updated the report to include links to the comments received for
the top scoring logos.

You can find links at the end of the report:

http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/

Or here:

http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/34.txt
http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/36.txt
http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/5.txt

http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/13.txt
http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/31.txt

Next steps? As far as the survey goes, I think I'm done. We have a
heap of data. I tried to make some sense of it. But it now is for
the designers to take all this feedback and create one or more revised
designs. Of the top scoring logos, two were from Kevin Grignon, one
from Samer Mansour, two from Michael Acevedo and one from someone I
haven't seen on the mailing list, but whose entry on the wiki was from
"Chris R."

Maybe it makes sense in the next round to aim for one design per
designer? If so, we can probably narrow it down to 3 or 4 choices,
which we can either poll users again for, or just have a vote of
project participants.

There isn't much time yet, so could I suggest we aim for having the
revisions done for next Friday, May 10th? Aim for 400 pixels wide,
PNG with white or transparent background.

Regards,

-Rob

recent screenshot, but his commit was revision 1478676 while the latest
SNAPSHOT tag seems set to r1478430 and thus earlier than that).

XHTML filter extensions

2013-05-03 Thread H. Louafi
Hello,

Recently and as part of my doctoral research project, I have extended
the OpenOffice
XHTML export filter by fixing numerous bugs and adding new features, such
as adding the possibility to export images and shapes (line, circle,..)
into traditional Web pages.

In addition, I added the possibility to export images and text using a
scaling parameter and quality factor (for JPEG images). In the future,
these extensions can help people using OpenOffice documents via their
web-enabled mobile devices (by mean of Web browsers).

Now, I need you help to incorporate these extensions into OpenOffice and
give the community a better experience with the XHTML filter. Actually, I
don't khow what the process is. Thanks!

Best Regards,
Habib

Re: Results from AOO 4.0 Logo Poll

2013-05-03 Thread Alphonso Whitfield III
I can set up a page to compile the voting stats etc. If I had been able to
participate more actively earlier I could had provided one for the larger logo
voting and assessment.

I can have it ready by 10 pm EDT USA if you like Rob? Please advise.

You are the ringleader of this effort please provide some guidance and I can
knock it out.

I've updated the report to include links to the comments received for
the top scoring logos.

You can find links at the end of the report:

http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/

Or here:

http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/34.txt
http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/36.txt
http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/5.txt
http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/28.txt
http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/12.txt
http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/13.txt
http://survey.openoffice.org/reports/aoo40-logo-poll/31.txt

Regards,

-Rob

Problems, with suggested fixes, & questions

2013-05-03 Thread Dr YaLeah
Problems:

1)In an OpenOffice text document that has information lined up in columns
(such as a price list or menu):   When changing the size of the font the size
of "tabs" and "spaces" does not remain consistant, which makes the columns no
longer line up as before. About 1/3 of the entries will have to have the tabs
&/or spaces edited to bring them back into alignment. This is very time
consuming and should be unnessary. Tabs & spaces need to be one constant size,
never variable, within each font size. Being able to lock the position of a
column (not as a table) would also work.

2)In an OpenOffice spreadsheet:   Within a cell it is common to want to
split wrap-around text at the the author's point of preference (such as with an
address). The placement of multiple "spaces" to push the text into position is
time consuming, sloppy, and unpredictable at best. Then, if the size of the
cell or the font changes, the entire document has to be searched to repair the
unwanted auto-adjustments. Please provide a way to use commands like "enter"
and "tab" inside the cells.

3)When pasting information copied from any internet source into an
OpenOffice text document, OpenOffice will consistantly crash at least 20% of
the time. Worse, I've experienced days when it was 98% of the time. The method
I've used is to "block" the desired information on the website, "control + C"
to copy, then "control + V" to paste the information into my OpenOffice
document. Photos cause the most trouble but text is in no way immune.

Questions:

1)In an OpenOffice spreadsheet:     I don't want to have to reorganize an
entire spreadsheet to accomodate a single unusual entry so is there a way to
split one cell into multiple cells?    I'd like the choice of vertical,
horizontal, or multiple splits and also need to be able to adjust the size of
the resultant cells.

2)In an OpenOffice text document  please tell me how to switch between
"manual" and "auto-placement" of outline numbering. Also, how do I set "manual"
as my default?
