HI

I think you have a good and valuable idea, however I also you should attack
the problem from a design point first, because if you made a water tight
design, you can later add 10 target systems without touching the main code.

Your extension call for a broker/agent class theorem, with a master-agent
carrying the extension connection, and an agent for each target, and if you
do your job real well also a test agent allowing you/us to test the main
chunk without the complexity of a target system.

Bear in mind this would need to be an extended broker/agent, because the
extension will surely have UI connection.

So I would like to recommend think more in generic terms, like how can I
make it easy to add 10 target systems without changing the main bulk of
your code.

You have read a number of suggestions on how to start, I would like to
propose an alternative. Try to build a dummy extension, that test the
perfomance of the connection, that will give valuable experience, and could
be interesting for us all to know.

Ps. I am a C++ programmer, but have not built extensions.

Hi
I had a quick look at some of the configuration, and I fear if we follow
your suggestion, we will all get 2 mails. a dev mail and a personal mail.

Problem is that the mailer should do a sort uniq on the sender list before
sending but it does not. Or check if the original sender is part of the
maillist, which it also doesnt do.

Hi, i have question about programming extension and integration this

integrate in gui e.g. OpenOffise Base? Give me may be some links to

2013-04-14 Thread Rajath Shashidhara
Hello,

In continuation to my previous mails:

I found that OpenOffice already has support for csv, xls, xlsx and other
formats of tables. So use of other external python modules wouldn't be
necessary(I suggested the use of python-excel and csv python modules in my
previous mails). Now I realize that this import wizard is to convert it to
native OpenOffice database format(OpenOffice Base format).

Also about the bug fixing:
I found this bug on bugzilla:
Page count increases if a graphic file is inserted.(Bug 121546)

I tested the problem on OpenOffice and found that there is a problem with
positioning of the objects in the writer component. Once an image is
inserted it adds 4 blank pages in the document. So to solve the problem we
should make a patch which checks the number of blank pages added after
insertion of object/image and re-positioning of other objects in the
document and remove them from the document. Please help in finding the
right source files in which object positioning happens. I will be able to
fix this bug by controlling the number of white spaces added to fit the
object into the document. Please help!!!

Not reproducible by Regina, nor with my build from current trunk. That
build bot's builds are indeed screwed up. May be we should coordinate

OK, I just asked some friends to test the builds from the build bot on
other systems to confirm that it's a problem from the build bot and not

Jan is right on this one. Depending on what we use to access email, we can
only guess what the situation is, and review the "original" message before
giving a reply appropriate to the situation. Some e-mail readers are better
at giving "hints" about this than others.

We don't get that many moderated emails to this list. But it does take a
little bit of effort to deal with them.

Did you add it to the code in http://ooo.pastebin.ca/2357487?

Usually, in a client application, you access a document by loading it:
http://www.openoffice.org/api/docs/common/ref/com/sun/star/frame/XComponentLoader.html#loadComponentFromURL
loadComponentFromURL() returns a ::com::sun::star::lang::XComponent.
In that pastebin code, this is:

Reference < XComponent > xcomponent = rComponentLoader->loadComponentFromURL(
OUString::createFromAscii("private:factory/sdraw"),
OUString(RTL_CONSTASCII_USTRINGPARAM( "_blank" )),
0,
Sequence< ::com::sun::star::beans::PropertyValue>());

In the code in my attachment, as I wasn't going to use this
css::lang::XComponent interface, I queried for the
css::drawing::XDrawPagesSupplier directly, no need for an intermediate,
unused, variable. See code attached in this mail for a more complete
sample (you may want to translate the Java example in the SDK to C++ in
order to get used to Draw/Impress API).

the bug is that too many blank pages are inserted in this case. The fix is to
analyze why this happened and prevent it. It is better to find and fix the root
cause instead of fixing the result of obvious broken code.

This means try to find the related code, build the code with debug info and
step through the code to see what's going wrong. I know this is not easy
because the code base is huge and complex. But keep in mind that you play with
code of an enterprise ready office suite. Grown and developed over years and
often code areas are developed by different people with different knowledge.
Code get old and you find bad code and good code. Often you will find out that
it can be improved and can be made better. Feel free to submit patches to
improve code and that fix problems.

Opengrok helps a lot to search and find specific function in the big code base.
And the good thing is you will become more and more familiar with the code over
time.

We all cook with water only, so don't be shy :-)

[DEVTOOLS] update Netbeans plugin for setting toolbar name in Addons.xcu for AOO 4

2013-04-14 Thread Carl Marcum

Hi all,

I am working on updating the Netbeans plugin for setting toolbar name in
Addons.xcu for AOO 4.
This is required for AOO changes documented in bug 121577 and I created
bug 122055 to track this change.

Since the change will be incompatible with AOO 3.4, I tagged a 3.0.2
version and created a 3.0 branch so trunk will be AOO 4 only.

Best regards,
Carl

I agree now and with my upcoming 3layer removal there will be some work to do
in the plugin. It mainly that places of jars, tools, libs have changed.

Hi juergen, thanks. I'm sure I'll be able to understand it when I see the
code. I understand that my patch is going to affect the whole software.
I'll definitely take care that it will solve the problem of the existing
code rather than writing lines of code to delete the extra pages.

I leave this for you, as homework; it is simply an algorithm, nothing
specific to OO API nor C++, you could even find the algorithm using
python.

What I'm not sure is how generic this can be: will a RTL
language use the "Color N" pattern, or "N Color"? And some locales may
not use the Western-Arabic numerals used with the Latin script,
wikipedia shows http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Arabic_numerals and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_numerals

I would like to also tag current version as 3.0.1 at the same time.

Trunk would become version 4.0 to maintain major version number the same
as AOO.

If there are no objections to the above proposal within 72-hours then I
will invoke Lazy Consensus and proceed to implement the above proposal.

You can if course create a branch but I don't see the demand for it.
You can continue the development towards 4.0 on trunk. I don't see
many activity here and a branch is not really necessary from my pov.

I agree. we can always create a branch based on a revision number
later if needed.

I thought about it more and since the next changes will be incompatible
with AOO 3.4 I tagged a 3.0.2 version and created a 3.0 branch to make
it easier if someone needs to make changes for 3.4 compatible plugins.

I agree now and with my upcoming 3layer removal there will be some work to do

Is this something that will be implemented in AOO 4 release?

How come it is a 3.0 branch ?? that sounds old to me, shouldnt it be
3.4.1x branch ?

I do agree with the principle in having a branch. We have however to make
it clear to developers, that when using that branch their code will not
avalible with 4.0.

Hello ,
I'm new to open-source development. I would like to find out in which part
of the source code text wrapping around the image happens when a new image
is inserted. This would greatly help me resolve this bug(121546) and
personally It would help me in learning how to find the right part of the
source code corresponding to functionalities. I'm sorry for repeatedly
asking for your help. I want to definitely fix this bug. Please help me
with this. Also is there an approach that I need to follow generally to
find out which part of code could correspond to a functionality that I'm
searching? I searched for insert graphic/text wrap and followed a chain of
hyperlinks and was not able to exactly figure out where this whole part of
text wrapping happens. Please help me!!!

Re: "Easy hack" for website

2013-04-14 Thread Michal Hriň

Hi Rob,

I started work on this bug 122003, because I'm not familiar with
Subversion,

I need little help.

I'd like to create a "big patch" as mentioned in bug description but I
don't know how

to do it through svn.

- I made "svn co ..." for downloading whole ooo-site
- I'm edited some files and some I removed

and what is the next step ?
"svn diff something" ?

Michal Hriň

I just entered a BZ issue :

https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=122003

"Missing tag on many webpages"

If there are any new volunteers looking for how to get started, this is
one
easy way that does not require any programming. We need someone to
review

a bunch of HTML pages and add titles to them. It should help these pages
be listed more appropriately in Google, Bing and other search engines.

There are 874 pages missing titles, so this is something where we can
divide up the work as well.

Hi all,

I would like to branch NB integration plugin for 3.0 and start
modifying
trunk for AOO 4.0 compatibility.

I would like to also tag current version as 3.0.1 at the same time.

Trunk would become version 4.0 to maintain major version number the
same
as AOO.

If there are no objections to the above proposal within 72-hours then
I
will invoke Lazy Consensus and proceed to implement the above
proposal.

You can if course create a branch but I don't see the demand for it.
You can continue the development towards 4.0 on trunk. I don't see
many activity here and a branch is not really necessary from my pov.

Best regards,

I agree. we can always create a branch based on a revision number
later if needed.

I thought about it more and since the next changes will be incompatible
with AOO 3.4 I tagged a 3.0.2 version and created a 3.0 branch to make
it easier if someone needs to make changes for 3.4 compatible plugins.

I agree now and with my upcoming 3layer removal there will be some work
to do in the plugin. It mainly that places of jars, tools, libs have
changed.

Juergen

Is this something that will be implemented in AOO 4 release?

How come it is a 3.0 branch ?? that sounds old to me, shouldnt it be
3.4.1x branch ?

The Netbeans plugin versions didn't historically coincide with the OOo
version numbers (that I know of).

When the code came to Apache it was version 2.0.7 and I tagged that
version and started work to make it run on Netbeans 6.9 which was
Netbeans 7.0 api changes. That's when I changed it to 3.0. Some
additional localization work took it to 3.0.2.

I'm not sure what the best solution to version numbering other than to
do a major number change when it's not compatible with AOO or NB and
keep a compatibility table somewhere.

I do agree with the principle in having a branch. We have however to make
it clear to developers, that when using that branch their code will not
avalible with 4.0.

I agree, that's why I hope everyone continues to do work on trunk and we
only merge changes if needed for some reason. But we have a well
established break point.

Carl

Be sure to do this from the root of the ooo-site directory.

You can then zip this and attach it to the BZ issue. I'll then review and

configure still seems to want libwpd-0.8 unless we change this.

Also, getting configure to work correctly with your system require correct
pkg-config set up for all your libraries -- a big issue with my setup.

Did yuo add it to the code in http://ooo.pastebin.ca/2357487?
No, I didn't. I added it in my main code.

Thank you for that you told me in the above mail. I get it, but I got this
error because I didn't add the correct name of object, in your code it is
called xDoc, I just had to change xcomponent to xDoc. It was a problem of
inheritance.

Re: Conversation: Pick A Logo

Hello All,

Sorry, i haven't had cycles to work on this.

Please consider these votes a selection of direction as final adjustments will
need to be made to the graphics and text.

It appears there is interest in a flat treatment. Other than that, palette,
fonts and relation ship to app icons and other graphics is still open.

Sorry to open a can of worms, but design is not linear, is not well suited for
polls. Rather, select a direction, say flat, then open a quick iteration to
explore flat. Incremental decisions will allow us to refine. It is not all or
nothing. Also, consider the synergy which is possible by combining elements
from different designs.

If we pursue flat, let's explore some modifications to the pages (gulls). In my

Also, we should see the proposals with drop shadows as key OS apply one. The
