Re: Want to find more contributors for your Apache project?

2016-11-30 Thread Jordan Zimmerman
Anyone having success with helpwanted.apache.org? I’ve gotten a dozen
or so responses (for Apache Curator). Not one of them has even
bothered to subscribe to the email list. I always thank them for their
interest and point them at the bug DB, etc. and then - nothing. I’m
afraid this is attracting folks looking for a quick bump for the CVs
:(

2016-11-30 Thread Rich Bowen
Well, like I said, the instructions are in the links. Did you have any
particular questions about the process?

Thanks.
My bad. Will start working on it soon.

Re: ASF Stand for FOSDEM 2017

Hi Everyone

A quick update - the application for an ASF stand at FOSDEM 2017 has
been accepted. I actually applied for two tables like we had at FOSDEM
earlier this year but they have been oversubscribed so had to reduce it
only one.

I plan to be at FOSDEM, but as of today I don't have a clear idea of
what my responsibilities will be. Depends on many things that are still
in flight. However, I'm available leading up to FOSDEM to help in
whatever capacity you need.

Thanks very much for the offer. If anything comes up I'll let you know.

I'd like to do a feathercast with you (or
with someone?) about our presence at FOSDEM - why, where, when, and so
on. Are you up for this? Should take less than a half hour of your time.

Yes - why not! Next week is better for me so let's catch up offline and
arrange a time and date.

Also, be sure to explicitly loop Sally in on this - or at least send
something to press@ - so that she can get in on the fun.

Ok - will do.

Thanks
Sharan

Hi Sharan,

The FOSDEM stands team is glad to be able to inform you that your request
for a stand for The Apache Software Foundation has been accepted.
There will be one table reserved for you.

We have received almost twice as many proposals as we could accept.
In order to be able to accept more projects, we have reduced most
requests for multiple tables to only one table.

You will receive further information about what's expected of you
closer to the event date.

Looking forward to seeing you at FOSDEM 2017!

Best regards,

Johan van Selst

Re: My keynote from Apache Big Data on Hortonworks internal Apache training

2016-11-30 Thread Alan Gates
I added my slides to the page and committed them. When I get to the publish
site step it tells me I don’t have permission. I checked and my changes did
get committed into SVN, so I assume someone with permission just needs to
republish the site.

Alan.
