@ustcweizhou the issue we found is due to delay in buffered stdout, where
sometimes the getdomr answer may not have the 'hash' after the delimiter '&'.
This is a very specific case which normally could not be reproduced. We saw
this issue in a production environment and Abhi recently found the issue in a
Trillian environment.

Maybe it would make sense to check the value of `lastIp` being something
instead of just checking if it's not null? It works the way it is, but perhaps
checking specifically for a value like `"true"` would make sense. Would prevent
someone from updating code later to send `"false"` for whatever reason and then
causing something unexpected. Relying on not null as a truth value is a bit
obtuse in my opinion.

While the test_snapshot is already fixed, in fact we just merged the fix in

midonet-client and Guava dependency conflict

2017-03-09 Thread Jeff Hair
Hi,

I'm deploying 4.9.2.0 (not the vanilla version, but rather an upgraded
version of our fork) on Tomcat 8. Management server startup fails with the
following error:

java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError: Found interface
com.google.common.base.Equivalence, but class was expected

I've traced this down to the OutOfBandServiceManagerImpl. More
specifically, when it tries to build the hostAlertCache using Guava's
CacheBuilder. Deep in Guava, it's calling an "identity()" method on the
Equivalence class. All of the Guava classes are coming from guava-19.0
except for com/google/common/base/Equivalence.class. The Equivalence class
is being loaded from the midonet jar for some reason, and that version does
not have the method needed. Thus, the error.

This is because Tomcat apparently does not load jars in alphabetical order
anymore, starting with version 8. An open ticket for them to fix this is
here: https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=57129

It could be possible to "fix" this by using a custom ClassLoader to force
Tomcat to load things alphabetically (testing that right now--and not
really succeeding), but the proper fix is to have the midonet client not be
packaging guava with itself. Does anyone know why this is?

Unit testing with (database) encryption enabled

2017-03-09 Thread Friðvin Logi Oddbjörnsson
Hello all,

I’ve encountered a couple of issues when running CloudStack’s unit tests
after adding the following to cloudstack/utils/conf/db.properties:

db.cloud.encryption.type=env
db.cloud.encrypt.secret=secret

and setting environment variable CLOUD_SECRET_KEY with a non-empty value.

Unit test UriUtilsTest.getUpdateUri has the following check:
// there is password param but still no request for encryption,
should
// be unchanged
Assert.assertEquals("http://localhost/foo/bar?password=1234";,
UriUtils
.getUpdateUri("http://localhost/foo/bar?password=1234";,
false));

However, looking at the implementation of UriUtils.getUpdateUri(String url,
boolean encrypt), when parameter encrypt is specified as false, a parameter
with name “password” will have its value decrypted! This means that, when
encryption is actually enabled, this check will fail because “1234” is not
an encrypted value (the value will actually be replaced by “null”).

Should UriUtils.getUpdateUri(String url, boolean encrypt) really be
decrypting the value of “password” parameter and, if so, shouldn’t it check
whether the decryption returned null? (in which case, it would leave the
original value)

As for the other issue I encountered, unit test
EncryptionSecretKeyCheckerTest.testKeyFileDoesNotExists failing, just
mentioning here that this unit test fails when encryption is enabled.
Unlike the UriUtilsTest issue, the cause for this fail is straightforward
(the test simply assumes that encryption isn’t enabled) and I’ve already
fixed the unit test locally so that it works properly regardless of whether
encryption is enabled or not.

P.s. running the unit tests simply by executing `mvn -Pdeveloper -Dnoredist
-Dsimulator -Djna.nosys=true clean install`

Re: midonet-client and Guava dependency conflict

2017-03-09 Thread Jeff Hair
After doing some more digging, I have confirmed the following:

   - The midonet plugin is using the Maven Shade plugin to put a bunch of
   dependencies into itself.
   - The plugin hosted in this repository was last updated in 2013.
   - Most importantly: removing all the guava stuff out of the midonet

I have not had any success in applying
https://github.com/openwide-java/tomcat-classloader-ordered to get Tomcat
to load its jars in alphabetical order, for whatever reason. I tried
putting the Loader in various context definition locations, but it refuses
to work. Any ideas?

Dear PMCs,

I'm happy to announce that the ASF has made it onto the list of
accepted organizations for
Google Summer of Code 2017! [1,2]

It is now time for mentors to sign up, so please pass this email on to
your community and
podlings. If you aren’t already subscribed to
ment...@community.apache.org you should do so now else
you might miss important information.

Mentor signup requires two steps: mentor signup in Google's system [3]
and PMC acknowledgement.

If you want to mentor a project in this year's SoC you will have to

1. Be an Apache committer.
2. Request an acknowledgement from the PMC for which you want to
mentor projects. Use the below
template and *do not forget to copy ment...@community.apache.org*. We
will use the email adress you
indicate to send the invite to be a mentor for Apache.

PMCs, read carefully please.

We request that each mentor is acknowledged by a PMC member. This is
to ensure the mentor is in good
standing with the community. When you receive a request for
acknowledgement, please ACK it and cc
ment...@community.apache.org

Lastly, it is not yet too late to record your ideas in Jira (see my
previous emails for details).
Students will now begin to explore ideas so if you haven’t already
done so, record your ideas
immediately!

Cheers,

Uli

to load its jars in alphabetical order, for whatever reason. I tried
putting the Loader in various context definition locations, but it refuses
to work. Any ideas?

Re: :[VOTE] Apache Cloudstack 4.10.0.0

Thanks Mike!
You are right, issue is related to storage tags, as they were stored in
storage_pool_details before and it is querying that table for matching
tags, instead of storage_pool_tags. As now storage tags are stored in
storage_pool_tags, tags do not match and deployment fails. I'm working on
it.

Daan, before removing anything, I think we should check if there are people

If we have to lay a burdon of fixing before release on people that
don't use it, i would say no. You use it, you maintain it. I am happy
to charge money to whoever wants to not maintain what they use.

[GitHub] cloudstack issue #669: Made the adding new keyboard language support easier

@anshul1886 you asked to show you how it can be done.
I opened a PR https://github.com/anshul1886/cloudstack-1/pull/1 for the
branch you are using in this PR. Can you take a look?

OVM (not implemented) and XenServer has a different flow of execution (I
would like to check that later)
So, what do you think of a code like the one I showed you?

@DaanHoogland could you also take a look at the proposal?

I think administrators/operators are familiar with those notations

Agree with you, but I think a nice talk with people using it to ask for
help might be a good idea.

Sometimes they are not aware of these situations.

Re: Import Ova with multiple Disks

2017-03-09 Thread Will Stevens
Not sure it helps, but I wrote a Python script which takes an OVA with
multiple disks and splits them and creates one OVA per disk. I wrote this
while building a migration tool from regular VMware to an ACS controlled
VMware so I could upload the first disk as a template and the rest as data
volumes.

I really need to get around to open sourcing that tool...

Let me know if that would be helpful for you.

Re: midonet-client and Guava dependency conflict

2017-03-09 Thread Will Stevens
We have had similar conversations many times recently. Unfortunately we
have no way to track IF people are using different plugins, so it makes it
really hard to know if people will expect it to be there if they upgrade...

If anyone has ideas for how we can potentially find a way to track that, we
should probably start a thread around that.

Hey Lucas,
What version is that feature expected to be in? Is there a PR open for

@abhinandanprateek thanks for your work.

Could you please append the Jira issue CLOUDSTACK-4757 with the PR title
(https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-4757).

For instance _CLOUDSTACK-4757: Support OVA files with multiple disks for
templates_.

Re: Import Ova with multiple Disks

2017-03-09 Thread Lucas Berri Cristofolini
Hey Will,

There is a PR open for it at https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/pull/1989
to be merged into version 4.9, though it looks like a pretty significant
amount of work and by the time it's ready I imagine we might be looking
into 4.10.

Not my PR, but seems that disks do get implemented as data volumes.

Unless I missed something and this PR does not address the same issue at

Not sure it helps, but I wrote a Python script which takes an OVA with
multiple disks and splits them and creates one OVA per disk. I wrote this
while building a migration tool from regular VMware to an ACS controlled
VMware so I could upload the first disk as a template and the rest as data
volumes.

I really need to get around to open sourcing that tool...

Let me know if that would be helpful for you.

Hello,
Today the schedule [1] was posted for CCC in Miami. We have a great line
up of talks, as well as training and a hackathon scheduled. We are
expecting a large turnout to this event, so it will be a great opportunity
to network and interact with the community.

Register [2] before Sunday (March 12th) and save $200.

If you would like to sponsor this event, there are still sponsorship
opportunities [3]. We will be doing special promotion of our CCC sponsors
before and throughout the conference. The earlier you sponsor the more
visibility you will get.

Speaking of which, I would like to give a big shoutout to ShapeBlue [4] who

Just to set some realistic expectations (as the previous 4.9 release
manager) so no one is caught off guard here.

The 4.9 release branch is an Las branch, so new features should not be
getting merged into that branch.

The 4.10 branch is currently between RC1 and RC2, so I doubt we will see it
merged in before RC2 as it is not a blocker.

I would not expect this feature to be released in a stable branch for a
couple months (unless I missed something).

That's my two cents. I could be wrong, but I'd I were you I would not
expect this feature in the short term.

I recall a thread discussing some call home functionalities a long time

how that thread ended?

The use o ACS plugin could be something trackable by a call home feature.
